This really was a very special sit; great people, lovely animals and a wonderful property which is full of character and steeped in history. Alison and Robbie treated us to a delicious, home-cooked meal on the evening before their departure and we felt instantly relaxed in their company (thanks, both!). We thoroughly enjoyed looking after the sheep (who, surprisingly, would eat treats out of our hands), the chickens (who were fun to watch and provided us with yummy eggs, daily - especially the 'lucky' blue ones!), and the cats (Pudding is a darling cuddle-kitty, Flash quickly warmed to us and chatted away whilst enjoying back strokes and head bumps, but Beetle decided to remain elusive and would only eat in the barn, sadly). The dogs went on holiday with their pet parents so we only met them briefly but they are simply gorgeous, happy little souls. This is a sit we'd happily return to.
Inon and Naama were welcoming and generous hosts, and they explained everything clearly before they left. Their place is full of greenery, and the small but well-planted garden is lovely to sit out in. The cats were easy to look after - Freddie is laid back and friendly (I got a boisterous head-rub on the second day), and Juke is a real character with his vocal conversations. Mitzki was very wary of me, but warmed to me by the second day, offering a gentle nose touch. There's lots to do in the area - a lovely riverside park and walk along the River Crane within 5 minutes stroll, nice pubs and restaurants. Thanks for a great stay.
Great people, great dogs and great location for a sit. Tom & Lindee really good / thoughtful people, and Shasta & Tenaya fun to be around — great as hiking buddies as they always stay with an ears distance and are fun to interact with on your adventures. Great hosts, great dogs and perfect location with beautiful hiking trails starting just across the street and only 5-10 minute drive from Tahoe City make this a great all around sit!
Jeff and Leah are great hosts. The communication was easy and straightforward. Their house was very clean, and they made sure we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Their house is beautiful, btw! The bathroom (w/ a bathtub) makes you feel like you're in a spa. And the fireplace in the bedroom is a real treat! But the highlight of this sit was Kaya. She is a special dog! Very smart and sweet, she will melt your heart. She is easy on walks and a perfect cuddle buddy. She likes to be where you are and loves when you join her to play in the backyard! The walks in the neighborhood are enchanting with the beautiful flowers blowing off the trees and sprouting from every lawn. Oh, and you can grab some oranges and lemons from the myriad of trees that line the streets!!! We 100% recommend this sit. And would be happy to sit for them again!
Alison left very good instructions/documentation so there was no confusion, and was very easy to contact while she was out of the country. The apartment is in a fantastic area of Chicago, has lots of space and modern amenities, and plenty of good light. It was a great place to spend 2 weeks. As for Wally and Hilde, they are like the Odd Couple (Wally=laid back, Hilde=spark plug), but they get along so well and are world-class snugglers. They were a joy to be around and I already miss their wagging tails. Overall, highly enjoyed this housesit and highly recommend it.
Donyale was quick, communicative and hospitable :) I took care of Zipper and Biscuit who are soo cute and also so easy to care for - they were great company for me. Their home is clean, cozy and eclectic with lots of charm and personality. Not to mention all the plants - it’s a green oasis! You have everything you need literally steps away including the Q train. Really lovely sit!
