This is the best daycare in Berkeley. The staff is always so friendly and accommodating. My husband and I work long shifts and we are at ease knowing that Lola has a place to hang out. Thank you Barkmont!

We love Barkmont and so does our little pup! Barkmont staff are incredibly responsive, communicative and flexible when we've experienced emergencies. Big bonus to their location is it's proximity to Berkeley Animal Hospital (right across the street), freeway and street parking for quick drop off and pick up.

Our large chocolate lab spent some quality time at Barkmont. We loved it there. The staff are THE friendlies, love their guests, and are so communicative. Our last time at the Barkmont, our lab was just there for the day this time around. He, unfortunately, was too excited/anxious (and admittedly nearing the end of his life) and his heart and lungs couldn't take the excitement. The staff cared for him in the best way possible while he was a bit in distress and they kept us in the know of his status throughout the day. They told us what their plan of action was until we got there and kindly asked if we wanted anything done differently. The Barkmont and its loving staff....ya can't beat it. Thank you Barkmont for showing Jaxon a good time (several times) and caring for him with so much love while he was in distress. We love you!

Friendly service and great care for your dog or dogs. I really enjoyed the helped from Liliana. Her service was great and she quickly got my dog in the day care the next day safe and sound. Price is good and they offer many different services for your pet. Overall great dog day care!

Update 4/30/24... I was called to fly to Beverly Hills first thing in the morning. I called after hours to set up boarding for Willie and was approved immediately. Shout out to Amanda and Kirk for their steadiness in accomodaring Willie when I travel on business. Another plus, is he has a best friend that's on the same boarding schedule, named Charlie. Every time I drop him off he is super excited to run into the FUN room to play with him, and all the staff talk about how their friendship is so cute. I recommend The Barkmont to everyone I know who has a pet. Forget about wag, rover, and all the other places, Barkmont is the best boarding facility in the bay, hands down. Update 11/23/22... I had a late notice work schedule change on 11/22/22 and needed a place for my dog to stay overnight. With Thanksgiving around the corner, The Barkmont was full and had no available reservations. Shout out to Kirk for making an exception and boarding Willie for me. I picked him up moments ago and he was all wags; I could tell he had an amazing visit at his hoke away from home. 5 stars all the way. I had to get my middle aged dog neutered and spent a week before his surgery looking for a dog sitter or pet hotel to watch him while I was at work. I work 70 hrs per week and couldn't find anyone who could commit that type of time, and furthermore had the ability to take care of a dog post surgery. I tried Rover, Wag, and various dog hotels... set up multiple meet and greets and wasn't happy with the customer service, vibe, ability, availability etc... Finally, the day before Willie's surgery, I found The Barkmont. I called to inquire, and was given an email address for Kirk, the owner. He responded late that night. He genuinely cared about my dogs situation, and put alot of energy into finding a pet sitter to come to my house, but wasn't able to find one. He offered to set me up with a special space onsite, with reliable staff to watch, walk, give meds, and care for my special little guy Willie. Furthermore, this place operates 24/7, amd allowed me to pick up and drop off any time day or night. I noticed Willie was happy every time I picked him up. The greetings I received when I came inside were always pleasant from every staff member, and sensed that everyone who works at The Barkmont feels a special connection with animals... they treated Willie like a member of their pack, and I am forever grateful for the experience they offered. Willie will be allowed to take his cone off tomorrow after his post surgery checkup, and I am excited to make regular reservations in the future so he can play with the happy dogs that stay at the luxurious Barkmont Hotel, Spa, and Day Care on a regular basis when I am at work amd out of town. Big props to Dre, Kirk, Amanda, and the rest of the staff for running the most reputable and capable dog hotel in the bay area. From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU ❤️ 💙 💜 💖 💗 💘

The Barkmont is very accommodating and professional. Never been turned down for same day reservations. I love the employees there. My dog Gou Gou definitely loves them. Can’t wait to get out of the car.

We truly consider the Barkmont part of our dogs family. I am so thankful to have a group we can trust when we go out of town to take care of our dog. She always runs right into the door when we drop her off and comes home exhausted from all the fun she has. They are very communicative about policy changes and we respect their choices they make to keep our dog safe. With the increase in kennel cough this winter we were nervous boarding her but they assured us they were consulting with vets and made decisions to protect our pup. We really like that we can see the dogs playing during the day on the webcam and that they also seem to make good decisions about when to put them in quiet time to nap. Our dog does often come home smelly from all the playing, but we've just started adding on a bath to her reservation and she comes home smelling fresh and ready for a long nap. When we have had issues where our travel plans are delayed they are very accommodating and kind and let us pick up later than we expected to. It's just so much less stress knowing we have this understanding group of amazing people taking care of our dog when we are gone. Truly love the Barkmont and so thankful we found them.

My dog Astor LOVES the Barkmont! I began bringing her there at just 4 months old for both daycare and over-night boarding. The facilities are clean and well-maintained. The staff pays close attention during playtime to ensure the safety of all pets. I also love the doggy webcam :) They also have bathing on-site, so after a stay, I get to pick up my Astor tired & clean. Rates are affordable compared to other Bay Area options, and the service is unbeatable!

Jeremy managed to get us set up with a great dog walker at very short notice. We are working with Eric--he's gregarious and clearly into dogs and his job. We interviewed him with our dog and were immediately at ease. We have an ever changing schedule and Jeremy and Eric have been able to accommodate that with no problems. THANK YOU Red Rover!

Our dog has been getting walks from Red Rover for almost 4 years. We have also boarded her with them. We couldn't be happier with their services and customer service. Riley loves her walks and comes back a happy and tired dog. I really don't know how we would function without them.

I’m so glad to have found trustworthy, honest, friendly & truly caring walkers to take care of Ned. As a first-time rescue owner, Ned was adopted and lived with two other dogs for two years. I recently moved to the area on my own with this sweet dog and as an anxious dog parent, I do worry about him without his dog mates. Dave is amazing with Ned and goes beyond his dog walking service. Once on a very hot day in Oakland, Dave ensured Ned did not overheat and turned on the fan for him. Including checking on his water bowl. This was not our first dog walker - I had a few before who did not have the same level of professionalism and general care for my Ned. I am so grateful for Jeremy and Dave.

They're some of the most exceptional and trustworthy dog walkers we've had. Warren will wait up by the window for Kristen or Michael to come every morning - tail waggin a million miles an hour and whimpering from excitement. It makes me happy to see Warren get to play out on the trails, learn new skills, and socialize with his pals every day. Finding a trustworthy and professional dog walker is not easy. Vanessa is pure gold. She has been walking my sweet husky-pit mix Margaux since she was a year old and forged an incredible bond not only with my pup, but with our whole family. Every weekday she reliably arrives at our home, Rory runs to greet her, and off they goes with a pack of 5-7 dogs on a beautiful East Bay trail. A few hours later Rory comes home happy and tired. Molly and her team at Doggy Lama are the best! Our dog Toby always returns from his off-leash walks with Jordan having had lots of fun with his pack buds and tuckered out. It’s been a huge relief to know Toby is getting the exercise and stimulation he needs, especially during the work week when we can’t provide that for him to this level. This team is also amazing at communication, from day-of logistics to general awareness of seasonal considerations on the trail.

Everyone at Doggy Lama has been so good to my pup, Rosie, since I adopted her over a year ago. Rosie has arthritis so Dorothy takes her to the park to sniff about at her own pace or just lay in the sun. It's clear that she loves her time with Dorothy because she always comes home with a huge smile on her face! Kendrae is super communicative and responsive around scheduling, too. Kasper and I we both LOVE Doggy Lama; obviously for different reasons - Kasper loves the walks, treats and keeping his brain working while practicing recall on every walk. I love it that the Doggy Lama team is super reliable and feels like extended family. After I broke my foot they were able to immediately schedule Kasper for walks every day so I was able to rest. Dog Social Club is amazing. The staff is very friendly, adaptable and flexible. Most recently we’ve had our two dogs stay there, and both had the times of their lives. It’s great that they have play structures, pools, and additional services you can add for your pups. Our two boys have very different personalities, one loves dogs and is shy with people, the other loves people and is shy with dogs. Both came out of their shells and loved being a part of the pack. It’s been the only place that we’ve boarded them where we had full peace of mind during our own vacation (and where it seems like they are on vacation too!). Thank you DSC!!

The Dog Social Club (DSC) is by far the best dog daycare facility in town! All the staff members genuinely love dogs & they care about all the doggie members in their facility. The communication amongst staff members is also amazing! Any instructions provided to one staff member are shared amongst all the staff members, so my dog is cared for very well while being at the facility. I am totally worry-free while my dog is under their care. They are an extension of my home care for my pet. So, it is with upmost gratitude that I would like to thank DSC for the excellent service that they provide. I am especially thankful to Susy for assessing & admitting my love one!!

Really lucky we got our dog in here. They are a very thoughtful and dedicated team. They are very conscious of her herding play style and have found her a good group. The small size group seems more conducive to active participation in play and not just anxious pacing she does with other places. We’ve already noticed more social behaviors when taking her to the local dog park. The additional services are also very reasonably priced.

My pup, Púca, has been going here for almost half a year and she loves it! We looked around for a while before trying a daycare, heard great things about DSC and have bought the super affordable 20-pack for $750 a couple of times. Their daycare hours are longer than average, drop off is available anytime from 6:30am-12pm, and pickup is available until 7:30pm. All of the staff know her by name and she always comes home tired & happy!

Without hesitation I recommend Oakland Pet Care to take care of your furry loved ones. Our dog has thrived on their daily pack walks. As a young high energy dog, our pup has greatly benefited from OPC's talented walkers who have helped him build confidence, gain positive social skills, and get some of that energy out. Going on pack walks is the highlight of our dogs day!

My dogs favorite part of the day is her hike with Olivia. We're working from home but it's really nice to have the dog gone for 2-2.5 hours and she comes back super happy and tired. Plus she's learned some new tricks and is much better off leash with us. She also lost some weight

I am so pleased with Happy Hound dog boarding services. My mixed breed, fixed pup has been boarded at this facility for 3 to 5 nights at a time since I rescued him in August 2023. I love the staff! So many kind, friendly, competent people. Buddy loves his extended family! He is always so excited to meet and hang out with new friends, and full of energy and happy when we reunite. The rules are very clear, and easy to follow. We appreciate the care given to placing Buddy in the most appropriate hangout group. Love the report cards, photos, and the live Webcam. I value feeling secure about my Bud when I have to be away , and the location makes it so easy to access.

I meant to add some comments to my review that I just posted but I hit the return button too soon! I wanted to say that today I brought Boo Boo, our new dog in for an evaluation and was so impressed with not only the facility, but the staff. All the dogs there were busy and having fun and I will definitely be bringing Boo Boo here when we leave daycare or boarding. Another Happy customer for Happy Hound!

Amazing facility and super friendly and welcoming staff. My dog has moderate to severe separation anxiety, and after just two days of daycare now LOVES going to Happy Hound. The first day, she barked and jumped at the door awhile, and the second day she relaxed and even made a friend! The webcams are such a thoughtful and fun addition to the experience so that the humans can see how much fun their dogs are having. I am so grateful for the attentive staff who assured me and my husband that our fur baby would do well and thrive at daycare. So happy we found this incredible place!

Our pups Cy and Luna love going to Happy Hound for doggy daycare and boarding. The staff are superb and we couldn’t ask for a better team to care for our beloved dogs. We’ve used their training program for both dogs and it is worth every penny spent.

It was very easy to find information online and also call to ensure I understood the requirements and timeline. Once I was able to book the assessment, Sabrina greeted us and was very sweet to my dog! It was our first time ever at a daycare so my dog was very hyped. Sabrina gave me a tour and facilities were very clean and all dogs seemed very happy to be there. Personally love that you can watch the dog spaces live on their website.

Absolutely love Happy Hound! I’ve used them for daycare, boarding, training and grooming. No matter the service, dogs LOVE going there - they get so so excited when we pull in the parking lot. And I love how tired and happy they are when I pick them up :-) highly recommend!

This spot has always been great for our pooch and their updated facility has plenty of safe, clean space for our 12y/o big guy with two ACL repairs. This was our first time leaving him more than a few days. I was apprehensive leaving him for a week and a half but they were awesome about letting us hold the dates without stress and when he lost a couple pounds within the first few days (apparently very common even if they’re eating well since he’s so accustomed to lazy days and less stimulation) they notified us (via text which was awesome) and asked if they should make any adjustments to his feeding. They even allowed us to ship his normal food there via Amazon to up his portions a bit instead of pressuring us into buying their toppers which would have also been a fair option. Really impressed with this place and their prices are totally reasonable for the great work they do for our fuzzy family members.

Cleopatra our Great Dane spent 3 weeks at Happy Hound for training. She was treated very well and came home in excellent health and spirits. The training is effective and she behaves better now.

My furbaby, myself and my hubby LOVE this place. It became my dog's second home. They have been a homesaver! We rescued a puppy this May, and then suddenly..stay at home dogdad needed to go on a business trip. Happy Hound welcomed our puppy with welcome arms. She made fast friends and is so happy to go there. She gets lots of exercise, stimulation, and safe play time. They have an excellent user friendly client portal that allows you to book boarding, daycare, spa treatments, training and more! We currently are doing a 14 day dream doggie training program. Her graduation is Sunday and we have lovedthe experience so far. We get regular pics, vids, and updates. She looks extremely happy and focused. We were able to get so much done around the house while she was out, and have the comfort of mind knowing that she's in expert loving hands! Would absolutely 💯% recommend this place. My neighbors all know of it and are jealous that we got in! It's a local legend. Best of all.. she knocks out.. sleeping so soundly when she comes back home!

Happy Hound took great care of Piero! They were flexible with my schedule when I needed to drop him off a little early, and coordinated with a local vet to make sure he could get his Canine Flu shot in time for his grooming appointment. His haircut looks beautiful!

I highly recommend Travlers Pet Care. They have been walking my dog, Rocky, for the past few years, and the experience has been great. Rocky is an elderly pup and Travlers has been good at ensuring he gets the exercise and attention he needs. Rocky always returns from his walks happy and well-exercised.. They genuinely care about Rocky's well-being. If you're looking for someone trustworthy and dedicated to taking great care of your furry friend, Travlers is the a great choice!

What would we do without Travelers Pet Care!! My girlfriend and I have a10 year old dog with separation anxiety and a chronic illness that requires regular medication. Marisa and Dominique have been top notch in their professionalism and communication, able to accommodate giving his medications. They give us the peace of mind to be able to leave town. Their website/app allows for quick communication and storage of all of the great photos that they take. Attached is one of the great photos they took of Ranger... Like how did they get him to pose like that!!! One of the true gems of the East Bay!

Marisa is reliable and professional. As a new dog owner, I had a lot of nerves. I never have any doubts when my dog is in the care of Marisa’s team. The best part, my dog is IN LOVE with her dog Walker and can’t wait to leave me and go on her walk!!!

We contracted with Travelers Pet Care to administer our sick cat's complex schedule of medications while we were out of town for over a week. Our cat has lymphoma and is on a variety of medicines (some injected, some in pill form as well as subcutaneous fluids) with varying frequency (some daily, some every other day, some three days a week.) We were very anxious about leaving our cat Posey, particularly when she needed care from someone who knew how to administer her medications. We needn't have worried! Dominique came over in advance to go over the spreadsheet of medications we had prepared and to get to know Posey in advance. We scheduled extra time during the first few visits so that they would have more time to bond. We also met with Marisa just before we left and developed equal confidence in her. While we were gone, we would receive daily updates on how things were going with Posey along with a picture so we could gauge her condition for ourselves. We could see that during the course of the week, Posey became more and more comfortable with them and more affectionate. On days when Posey didn't need much in the way of medication, they would stay and give her company for the remaining amount of time scheduled for the visit. When we returned home, it was immediately evident that Posey had benefited from their care. She wasn't anxious about our absence (though happy to see us) and even seems to have gained a little bit of weight. Her comfort level was high because there was no interruption in her medical regimen. I cannot recommend Travelers Pet Care more highly, particularly if you have a pet with special needs. Their fees are very reasonable relative to the care our pet received and the peace of mind they afforded us made it possible to leave Posey in their care in confidence. We are so grateful to them! I highly recommend their services and we will most definitely use them again.

Dominique and Marisa were instrumental in guiding us as first time dog owners. Our “pandemic puppy" was able to socialize and learn to walk off the leash with them. Our dog looks forward to every time they come by to pick him up. We are lucky to have this 5-star service in the East Bay.

I have never had such experience with a pet sitter as professional, thorough, reliable and most importantly as caring the way Marissa and Dominique are. From the meet and greet, they made me feel confident to hire them. The way they would ask questions about your pet making sure their needs are met. They would give me updates everyday on what's going on and and how my pup is doing which gave me peace of mind. I enjoyed my vacation not worrying about what is going on with my dog. Marisa has been the cat sitter for my fur babies since May this year. I'm grateful to have found her and Travelers Pet Care. She has been very reliable and she takes good care of my fur babies. There was one time that my senior cat was really sick while I had to leave out of country. Sue started walking our dogs when we made the crazy decision to add a new puppy to our family. Our older, 10 year old dog was a strong alpha female who was very particular and our new puppy was a wiggling ball of energy. Sue was amazing with both of them. When we first met Sue, the intake interview she did with us to get to know our dogs put the interviews we had with potential nanny's for our daughter to shame. She took time to really get to know us and our dogs and figure out how to keep everyone happy. Her patience was endless - from dealing with our puppy submitting to others and peeing in her car to accommodating our older dog by ensuring that she had a private place to sit up front in the car. Sue was consistent and reliable and we always knew our dogs would be well cared for. Our dogs loved her and ran to the door any time she arrived. Sue went above and beyond the call of duty and always returned us tired, happy dogs. We brought Sue on when we had a full house with a puppy and a young child and were crushed to leave her when we moved 4 years later. I have since highly recommended her to other friends in the area who have loved working with her. The care she provided to our furry family members was outstanding!

Sue has been part of our family ever since our husky was a pup of about 1.5 years old, and she is now 12. She has been a second mommy to our girl and helped us raise her. She is very attuned to her pack, and has always let us know if our girl has been acting out of sorts and alerted us to any concerns. She has always been very flexible with scheduling, and always provides ample notice for time off.
