Tom and Dawn are such a lovely couple who immediately made me very welcome into their lovely home set in such beautiful surroundings and then, even though they were thousands of miles away, were always very responsive when I contacted them, or sent them videos and photos of their cats and chickens. I soon developed an amazing bond with all three cats, namely Sian, Bat and Haf, each one having such different personalities, which is something I always love about cats. On my final day, it was amazing that they seemed to know that I was leaving because Haf, who had become my shadow following me everywhere, spent the whole time on my bed, where she'd slept with me most nights, and wouldn't move! Sian on the other hand, appeared to be very wary, and although being quite aloof initially began to allow me to hold her paws, and would even reach out and place them in my hand! Whenever she saw me in the distance outside, she would start walking towards me, then suddenly gain speed until she launched into a full scale gallop, arriving at my feet and reaching up and headbutting my hand! On the day I left, I noticed that she was watching me pack up my car from a distance and she stayed there in the same spot until I finally drove away, and I ended up feeling really guilty that I was leaving! Bat is also such a loveable little character who always enjoys a good fuss. He has his special chair in the kitchen, and this is the only place where you will find him in the house, as his next favourite place is to be outdoors exploring, and visiting the neighbours! Unfortunately, although he came in for something to eat a couple of hours before my departure, he had gone out shortly afterwards and I wasn't able to say my goodbyes to him. Although I fall in love with all the many cats I have sat for, I would place these three at the top of my list in relation to character, and would return to look after them in a heartbeat. Not forgetting the lovely chickens, who always ran to greet me whenever they saw me... although that was probably because they were hoping that I would feed them, even when they'd already been fed for the day! It was clear to me that they too had very different personalities, and it was obvious who the leader of the pack was! Incidentally, their supply of eggs were truly delicious!
Looking after Hina at Reed and Renee's beautiful and comfortable home was a dream! Highly recommend this sit on all counts - fantastic home, wonderful dog, and responsive, accommodating hosts. Hina is a young and healthy wonder dog - she is smart, affectionate, and very communicative. Adjusting to her home was a breeze - Hina is such a "people person" that she was a sweet companion from the moment of our arrival. She is very well-trained, whether spending time with her at home or exploring her area on walks - her easy-going nature made for an always smooth and enjoyable sit. The worst part of sitting Hina was saying goodbye after several weeks of playing and cuddling! Hina's home is located in Volcano Village, just bordering Volcano National Park, which makes for easy access to fascinating walks. The home is so conducive to caring for her - there are plenty of spaces that facilitate Hina's routines including an entrance room for her belongings; her area in the garage for wiping muddy paws after a walk; and a fenced yard for quick bathroom trips, sunbathing, or playing fetch! Reed and Renee were fantastic hosts - remaining available to us throughout our sit for any questions or concerns. Our transition into their home was very smooth with their welcoming and accommodating hospitality, ensuring we ha everything we needed for our month-long stay. We shed some tears when we left this sweet pup and her lovely home - any sitter for Hina would surely have a wonderful time.
It was great to stay at Jeanne’s with the two sausage dogs. The place is spacious and comfortable and clean and modern with beautiful views from the living room, the dogs were affectionate and trusting and very very cute. Jeanne was really friendly and helpful. Would love to come back! Thank you!
Fi was incredibly friendly and welcoming. I spent a lovely week at her beautiful home in Dore, just on the edge of the Peak District and it’s very easy to get out and make the most of all the amazing walks and scenery nearby! I was able to work from home on Fi’s wifi and didn’t have any issues with connection etc. Bo and Gracie are such sweet dogs - very chilled and easy going. They love a walk, but also enjoyed a lot of sleeping on the sofa and lots of fuss! They were no trouble at all and I’m really missing them! Would definitely recommend housesitting for Fi - it has been a great experience and would love to come and stay again!
Sheralee has a beautiful home! I was very comfortable during my stay and the cats are so wonderful. Buddy is such a lovely snuggle bug and Max just loves being around you all day. GG is shy but so sweet. Her instructions were clear and easy to follow.
It was very unfortunate but we all agreed to cancel this house sitting, but we had good exchanges and I will definitely apply for another opportunity in Lynn's place.
