The doggies were a little shy and scared at first but ended up being so sweet afterwards. The house was really clean and spacious. Yu-Ching was lovely and left everything ready for us.

We had a great time with our old lady bully Cassie, mischievous Clyo and fairy dog Phoenix. All three are very sweet with their own special characters and all three are always up for a cuddle, a walk through the woods and a carrot 😉. We felt like a star chef every day when preparing the dog meals. Kathryn has put a lot of effort into putting together good, balanced meals for the dogs, especially because Clyo has Adison's disease. Giving the medicine in a piece of cheese was no problem at all, even because Cassie reminded us well in advance!
When the weather was nice we could play with them in the large garden (with fruit trees, so we enjoyed the tangerines and lemons!), when the weather was bad we lay inside by the wood stove.

So nothing to complain about in that regard. However, we would like to mention a - for us - negative aspect in this review. Those were the outdoor cameras. The listing on Trusted Housesitters does not mention this, the sitters guide does mention an alarm system, but not cameras. We found it annoying that Kathryn could see what we were doing via an app on her phone every step we took outside. Taking out the trash, going to the mailbox, getting something out of the car, hanging out the laundry, sitting outside, receiving visitors, playing with the dogs, washing the car and so on. In principle, this could all be followed, basically every time we (or Cassie, Clyo or Phoenix) went outside. We also asked Kathryn to disable the app, but she said this was not possible. We felt very limited by this and we felt this was an invasion of our privacy.

We also honestly say that we invited our neighbours from the Netherlands to my birthday, without telling Roman and Kathryn in advance. They were on their way to southern Portugal with their camper and happened to be in the area. We did not report this to Roman and Kathryn in advance (due to our enthusiasm we had completely forgotten that unreported visits are not allowed according to TH's rules), but we did text this to Kathryn during the visit of these neighbours.

All in all, there were some ambiguities and irritations on both sides. Fortunately, we were able to resolve this afterwards with a good conversation and good, clear email exchange. We therefore completed this pet sitting with a positive feeling and learned a lot from it. We definitely recommend that people who do not mind cameras enjoy Cassie, Clyo and Phoenix!

Pet sitting at Michael’s over the Christmas season was beautiful.
Gucci and Auggie are delightful!! Auggie is very affectionate; he wants to be pet and listened to. He’s a big baby! Ms Gucci is more independent and full of energy!! I was often laughing just looking at her funny face!
The neighborhood is vibrant, different and that’s the beauty of NYC: each neighborhood has something very unique.
Michael’s apartment is very nice and spacious. The bedroom is the the best part of the apartment: bright, comfortable and with an astonishing view. I spent a lot of time in the bedroom with Auggie and Gucci.
Michael is kind, generous and his guidance was detailed and clear.
