This was a delightful house sit in every respect looking after Stanley, a gorgeous young Border Terrier who became my little shadow buddy and rather stole my heart. Jo and Ian are very warm, friendly and relaxed people who made me feel so welcomed to their beautiful home in Kew. Communication was seamless from the outset, with very comprehensive instructions sent in advance, covering everything about Stanley, their home and the local area. I loved looking after Stanley, our walks in the parks and along the river, chasing games round the sofa, grooming sessions in the garden and cuddling up every night on the bed. He is the sweetest little companion who I took to meet my mother several times as she lives nearby, he made a big impression! Jo and Ian’s home is in a fantastic location by the river with such friendly neighbours, the kind shop owner who gave a treat to Stanley whenever we passed by, the many dog owners we met on walks who knew Stanley, I felt I was stepping into a lovely community. Jo and Ian were very kind, giving me a lovely gift on their return and Jo even dropped me off at my sister’s which was so kind after her long journey. I’m sure I will see them all again and highly recommend looking after sweet Stanley for such lovely owners.
We had a wonderful time hanging out with Lolo, Izzy, and Winnie! The location is beautiful and the pets are so sweet. Kimberly was available for any questions we had. Thank you for sharing your home with us!
This sit was an extremely difficult sit for varied reasons. The review is reflective of the pet-parent and would not wish the same experience for anyone ( having previously met wonderful people, great sits and reviews through this platform). To start with Reem posted dates looking for a sitter. Upon receiving my application , she mentioned that she had not firmed up the dates yet and this was tentative so we would discuss when she is aware. She took a longtime to revert and when she eventually came back and realized that i was no longer available for the initial day she started to blame the trustedhousesitters platform for publishing the dates without her approval She also bitterly blamed the platform for not finding the right sitters as previous sitters had canceled on her. She called me severally and begged me to take the sit knowing that I would not make it the first day ( i.e that day she was leaving) and that i would only arrive on the second day late in the evening as I was traveling via flight from another city. In this case she understood that there was only 1 flight scheduled for that day and the time it was landing as I informed her before booking. With this understanding and with her proposal to get a colleague/neighbor to feed the cat before my arrival , we agreed that I could arrive the next day which she was ok with and had a colleague come in. Updates -As soon as I got to the flat I spoke with her and updated her on my trip and the cat. She got regular pics and updates but she was very intense in sending messages. Some days I would even send upto 3 pics. At one point I did ask her if she preferred to have a video call as I sensed that I couldn't keep up with sending endless texts but she declined. The cat was very active and notorious about leaving for his hunt through the open garden that leads to the forest. It worried me at first but she said that its a male cat and he is free to leave and he comes back at his time. I also had a word with the neighbors who also said the same thing . The day I was leaving, she asked me to vacate the house by 5pm. Unfortunately the cat was not back by the time I was meant to leave. As courtesy I messaged her and said if she would allow me to wait for the cat to come back as she had mentioned her flight back was delayed. Again she bitterly complained and used very difficult statements and language which i found very disrespectful. Light fixture- One part of the kitchen light fixtures was already broken. She had alerted me about it as the fixture which was position too low and the cabinet doors hit directly on either side of the bulbs. I unfortunately hit one of the remaining ones and acknowledged my mistake. Upon informing her and asking if she would have liked me to compensate her for the part I was responsible i was instead met with over 20 Whatsapp text in one day. Which i found very unrespectful.
We had a great time at Sarah and Nick's home in SLC with their pup Sammie, she's such a sweetheart. Sarah was very helpful and easy to text with during their trip and when we met before the pet sit started. Their home had everything we needed during our sit, comfortable bed, lots of space to hangout and a well stocked kitchen. It was great that we could use the garage when the weather was snowy/rainy. Sammie was such an easy dog to sit with, she has a really fun personality, warmed up to us quickly and enjoyed cuddling on the couch under a blanket in the evenings. Thank you again Sarah for sharing your home and pup with us. We highly recommend a sit with Sammie at Sarah's.
Joy and Angelo were super helpful in the short time we had together before the sit. We met their two kids and Lexi before their trip, and they showed us everything we had to do. Their home is well lived in as you might expect with both parents, two kids and a dog all at home. They are a very fun family to know, and we certainly enjoyed the sit. You will, too. At 14, Lexi is amazingly fit. Even so, she only does walks on her terms! We usually put her on the leash and carried her to the corner and let her do her business and sniff around a bit. But that was generally enough for her because she insists on going back to the house and she wastes no time getting there! Sometimes giving the medicines to Lexi was difficult, but once we understood the correct procedure it was quite easy.
This was my first pet-sit with Trusted Housesitters, and Rachel and Rory (Boo) made it so easy and pleasurable! Rachel was warm and easy to communicate with, and her instructions were clear and very easy to follow. My husband and I fell in love with Boo. Although she was shy at first, once she got acquainted with us she just loved to snuggle and be petted. It was wonderful to care for her. Finally, Rachel's apartment is lovely and located in a beautiful part of the SLC area. Would happily sit for Boo again!
