Trudy and David did an excellent job dog- and house-sitting for us. They went above and beyond. Our fur babies received excellent care! They co-slept with them, even though we indicated that this was not a requirement for us. They asked detailed questions; it was aparent that they read the welcome guide thoroughly. They took our bulldogs' care very seriously, which we greatly appreciate. As for our home, it was immaculate upon our return. They left it even cleaner than when we had left. For example, I found the sink in our mudroom sparkly clean (a wonderful treat to come home to). After a long day of traveling, we unexpectedly came home to a homecooked Pumpkin Pie, detailed notes about their stay and the bulldogs, and a freshly cleaned kitchen. I look forward to working with Trudy and David again soon. Daisy and Jorge miss them already too.

Dawn & Greg

Dawn and Greg were the perfect sitters from the start. We had a great FaceTime with them since they were coming from a different time zone, which immediately put us at ease! We ran into a bit of an issue night one (our fault) and they were flexible, adaptable and SO gracious! Dawn was great about communicating with us, sending pictures and keeping us apprised of how our kitties were doing. We would gladly have Dawn and Greg again.

Michelle did a great job caring for our two cats. She had great communication from start to finish, our cats were happy and healthy upon our return, and our apartment was just as we left it. She also washed the sheets for us before she left. We would definitely have her sit for us again if the opportunity arose. Thanks Michelle!

From a pet sitting aspect we were not unsatisfied with Sara. Our dogs seemed happy and our chickens were also tended to well. However, from a house sit I will say we were disappointed with a few things. There was a bad storm the day before we left and we requested some photos of the damage to our property that was done. I asked multiple times and never received what I asked for after saying she would send it. We also agreed to daily updates in form of text or pictures of the animals and I did go the first couple days without reliable communication which didn’t sit well with me. As for the state of the house upon return, while it was mostly clean, one of our curtain rods was ripped from the wall. I wouldn’t have been upset had we just been notified of the repair that needed to be done but she never even told us that she broke anything in the house it was just left. She also very clearly rummaged through our drawers and took brand new unopened toiletries from areas that we did not specify she could use and she never reached out asking if it would be ok to take.

We were lucky enough to have Dede sit our house and yellow lab for a little more than two weeks. She treated our house as if it were her own and did an outstanding job looking after our three year old yellow lab, providing the requisite exercise for her, as well as the love and attention she so craves. Our home was spotless upon our return with everything in order and although our pup was happy to see us, she may have been a little sad to see Dede go. We would reccomend Dede, with our highest praise, to anyone who is seeking a responsible, caring, communicative and considerate sitter, you will not be disappointed!

Rakel

Serena is such a sweetheart. She’s incredibly friendly with people and she adores playing with other dogs at the park. She rarely, if ever, barks or whines. 

Rakel’s place is in a nice, family oriented neighbourhood in Berlin so even as a solo female I felt very safe walking around. The space has a calm and peaceful vibe to it. Rakel and her mom were very friendly and kind, always quickly communicative and making sure I had what I needed. 

Note that walking Serena and taking her to the park once a day is quite a big time commitment, as the parks are quite far away. I would say I spent about three hours of my day in total for walking Serena and taking her to the parks and allowing her time to play. So there isn’t much time if you want to do sightseeing. 

There is not air con in the house so it did get pretty hot and the rooms do let in a lot of light in early in the morning.

We spent a month caring for Tito. Tito is adorable small dog that we loved to hang around. He is shy yet independent at home but needs close attention outside due to his tendencies to eat everything on the ground. We had no problems with him.

The neighborhood has a small park that we used to bring Tito to. The house is about 15 mins walk to the metro station and 20 mins to the sea.

A few things that we didn't like that much: the welcoming part of the sit could be improved in many ways. And there could be less daily supervision about how it is all going. 

We are grateful to Maria and Pablo for the time spent at their house with Tito and the opportunity to get to know Denmark in no rush.
