The background to our story is as follows . We lived and worked in Australia. My darling wife Evelyn developed cancer and wanted to return to Ireland where all her family lived while she was still well enough to travel. We brought our little stray cat Lily with us. Evelyn got her wish, to die at home, surrounded by friends and family. After she was gone I resolved to return to Australia with Lily. Then I discovered about the rabies regulations. Lily would have to have a blood test and then wait 180 days before she could return to Australia. Then I heard about zeewoi and that was how Audrey came into our lives. A date was set but then the COVID crisis was upon us. I had to bring my departure date forward to get back to Australia before the doors closed. Audrey came earlier at short notice. We only had two hours together before I had to leave for the airport but her goodness and kindness were immediately apparent. I left our house with a happy heart knowing Lily was in good hands. Over the following months Audrey kept in touch with me by email , phone and Skype, sending me regular photos of Lily. We have become close friends. Lily was due to fly back to Australia on 15/07/20 but then the second wave of Covid hit us and all live animal import to Australia was banned. Her flight was canceled. Audrey was due to return to her home but offered to stay on and did so until last week. Whatever it takes she said. I can hardly express the depth of appreciation I have for Audrey’s help. She soldiered on through the lockdown, contact with her family in Ireland limited because of restrictions. She made the best of it. She made friends with our dear neighbors. She sent me a happy photo of Lily with a card which arrived on my birthday last month. She went the extra mile and I will never forget .
Renee was great at communicating with us, took Ani on lots of walks, and the house was just as we left it, super tidy and clean!
