We were made very welcome from the moment we arrived. Our stay was really relaxed and enjoyable. Everything was as described, above our expectations. Taking care of Monty and the chickens was such fun. Delightful countryside around us. The house was gorgeous and felt so homely and happy. Thank you for having us to "sit" in your home. Moira and her family are a joy to meet.

Connor
Connor and sweet little Olive were the best! It’s such a lovely apartment and Connor really made sure everything was provided for and comfortable. Communication was excellent and although Olive can be a little shy at first, she warms up to you so quickly and then will happily be your cuddle partner the rest of the stay :) She’s absolutely adorable and could play laser tag for hours. Overall, it was such a pleasure! Would definitely housesit for them again, given the chance.

Otto is great company and a delight to look after. He is easy to walk on the lead and showed me where he wanted to go. He enjoyed some lovely back scratches and head rubs. We had a very relaxing weekend enjoying the local area. Diana and Jonathan are really great hosts and have a wonderful home in a beautiful part of the country. Thank you very much for this opportunity.

This was the perfect house sit. The cottage is lovely, clean, comfortable and tastefully furnished and decorated.

Rosie is adorable, loves her walks and cuddles. Good on the lead, and recall was excellent. Motivated by food, although a carrot is a snack of choice. The cats, Sienna and Sooty are affectionate and love nothing more than trapping you in bed in the morning, purring loudly. The routine was: feed Rosie, put the kettle on the Aga for tea, let Rosie out, take tea to bed followed by the cats. Listen to the birdsong, and then after breakfast of fresh eggs, made in the AGA, a walk over the meadows or along the river.

The chickens greet you, expecting corn, as soon as you open the kitchen door, and reward you with fresh eggs daily.

Locally there is an friendly pub in the village, serving good food. There is also Hanlons, a micro brewery and smoke house, and The Beer Engine, a traditional pub, next to a railway station, about 15 minutes drive away. Both are welcoming and serve good beer and food. All three ideally need to be booked ahead, they are popular for good reason.

There are three very different National Trust properties close by. One, Castle Drogo, was the last castle to be built in England. Highly recommended. Topsham, on the Exe estuary is also worth a visit.

Although there are no shops in the village, there is a Farm Shop a short drive away, Tescos about 20 minutes drive away, and a good cheese shop called Quickes, near to Hanlons. Exeter is also a short drive away.

Caroline communicated well with us before the sit. Detailed instructions were provided and gave us a video tour of the house as we would be arriving after she and her partner went on holiday. Her friend in the village was also helpful.

I would thoroughly recommend this sit and hope that we can return here to care for the home and the pets again.
