Nature lovers will love this sit. The property is like being on a retreat. It's in wine country with many local wineries to choose from and is about 30 minutes from Charlottesville and an hour and a half to Shenandoah National Park, with incredible nature. The hosts were incredibly gracious people, and there was great communication throughout the process. There was an issue with the dogs that came up during our stay and the host handled it in the best way possible. Our family had an overall wonderful experience and all the animals are sweet and relatively easy to care for.

In summary, Sue was a great “host”, the house was more than adequate for the three week stay, the cats were all unique, interesting and enjoyable, and the area was fantastic! I noticed some negative comments from a previous sitter. I can safely say those comments can be ignored. Sue did a great job of providing any information needed in advance of the sit so there were no big surprises when I arrived. She provided a multi page set of instructions for everything possible with numerous contacts for almost any situation. The house has everything I needed. It’s nothing fancy. It’s small in some ways, small kitchen, but spacious enough everywhere else, and it felt very homey and comfortable. Sue clearly did a good job cleaning before I arrived. The garden space is fantastic for just sitting outside and enjoying the mountain air. The cats each had their own unique needs that were clearly spelled out in Sue’s instructions. Everything was easy to do, simply follow the instructions. Sue also went over everything with me when I arrived, and allowed me to adjust as needed for some of the feedings. And she was readily available to answer questions by phone or text. I can’t say enough wonderful things about the area around Rossland. If you are into hiking, mountain biking, lake swimming, beaches, trail running, track running, and more, the area has everything!! And it’s not crowded like Banff or places like that. I love it there and I’m definitely going back!
I had an amazing time with Katrina and her beautiful cats! Absolutely loved Hamilton and the proximity to the train made it easy to explore Glasgow and the surrounding area. Katrina’s home has everything you could need and was very tidy. She made me feel right at home and I would come back in a heartbeat. The kitties are very easy to care for and Marie is especially affectionate.
