We are very happy that we could house- and pet-sit for Robin and Kirsty for more than 2 months. Taking care of the 4 cats and 7 hens was a pleasure. As a reward the cats kept us company most of the time and the hens gave us 5 or 6 eggs every day. The house is beautiful and it has everything you need. We loved cooking and baking in the Aga. We spent a lot of the time inside in the cosy garden room with a log burner. There is also a lovely garden where our kids enjoyed the trampoline and the small playhouse. Robin and Kirsty were also kind enough to provide us with a car so we could explore part of Scotland. The communication was easy and we were shown everything at the beginning of our stay (and also provided with a detailed manual). Every Tuesday a fishvan came to the house and we could buy delicious fresh fish and organic fruit and vegetables. Robin and Kirsty, thank you for this house-sitting opportunity. We had the most wonderful time hanging out with Tortellini! She was pretty shy, as advertised, but she warmed up to us on her own time and even spent a few evenings sitting on the couch with us, allowing us to scratch under her neck, for which she showed her appreciation with the loudest purr! Otherwise, she mostly kept to herself, slept under the bed, and came out for food, potty breaks, and evening rub downs. Zara and Nicky were great hosts. They left the house clean, left us little treats, and were very communicative leading up to and during the sit, as needed. The location of their home is perfect; super close to Torrey Pines and beautiful beaches, and not too far from downtown San Diego. It was a wonderful stay-cation for us during our son's Spring Break week. We'd go back in a heartbeat!
