I had a wonderful time at Jessica's with her two WONDERFUL boy kitties. I assure you, the view never gets old, and working, sunbathing, or watching the sunset up on the top levels provided even more breadth of amazing vistas. These are two kitties that seemed to sincerely want to connect -- not in a needy or demanding way, just sweet, chill, wonderful companions. They're neither loud nor persistent meowers, but are persistently down to hang out if you are. Really special kitties (after sitting over 45, I can say that confidently!). They sleep most of the day and are ready to lounge on the couch with ya in the evenings. They're always ready to chase string or ribbon (but indeed: hide any plasticky or ribbon-y material since Dizzy will likely find & attempt to consume it — we all have our quirks!). They're happy to leave you be if you shut the bedroom door. Jessica was very communicative + informative and left a well-prepared, clean apartment where I found nothing lacking. It had two desk spaces, a well-stocked kitchen, and a 2nd sink in the adjacent laundry room (which was nice since the kitchen basin + faucet need consistent wiping of water droplets to prevent staining). I really enjoyed the upstairs dry spa, gym, and pool table, and pretty much always had them to myself! That ends my "standard" review for this sit, which I would highly recommend! Additional Travel FYIs for fellow bootstrappers: -The building is surrounded by golf course, so to *walk* to public streets, you technically need to loop around the course, but there is a [likely prohibited and mildly dangerous due to golf balls!] shortcut thru the course I found after seeing employees take it. Walking to the nearest mini-mart is about 30/40 mins and the beautiful beach is 40/50. Easy and safe! A car would've been nice to explore more of the area, but I was visiting more as a remote worker than tourist and did not mind. I recommend Isaac as a taxi driver 6550-8584. -Getting there: from the Panama City main bus "Albrook" station/terminal, I easily found a little white (air-conditioned) bus to Coronado for $1.60 (yep!!--look for the counter w/ "San Carlos" or "Anton" signs). Drop off at the McDonald's in Coronado. Then, a 10-min taxi to Jessica's was $7—I just waved it down from the main road. I did the reverse with ease. No need to pre-book the bus; they consistently run along this highway — just wave it down. *Note for car rentals: unlike most countries, Panama does NOT accept credit card insurance for bookings—they are FIRM on this and will surprise you with the additional charge.*
We were fortunate to be invited to look after Elizabeth and Jonathan's delightful house, together with the fabulous Alfie and Billy. The house is situated in a lovely area with plenty of places to visit nearby and is also perfect if you want to spend some time doing not a lot. Alfie and Billy are great characters, very different from each other but the best of friends and very easy to be with. We'd be very happy to return if the chance came our way.
