Five stars is not nearly high enough to leave Tom & Vivienne. What an absolutely amazing, incredible couple. Alan and I were SO blessed to have them watching over our crew while we were in Europe for 3 weeks. As a retired veterinarian, I do my best to take stellar care of our critters. However, with 5 dogs and 2 horses, stuff happens... and happen it did. A week into our trip, our GSD Mica became acutely ill. We had limited communication due to a 10-hour time differential and sporadic lack of WiFi. Tom tried to take Mica to the ER in Tucson, 75 minutes away at least. After waiting SIX HOURS without getting Mica examined, he came home. They managed to limp along until Mica was seen by my regular local gal on Monday morning. Diagnostics performed on that Monday visit indicated that Mica has a splenic mass. Obviously, it was very stressful for me to be out of the country when Mica was so ill. Nevertheless, Tom and Viv took AMAZING care of him. I received constant updates and equally constant reassurance, both of which I desperately needed. Mica rallied and remained essentially symptom-free until our return. Not to be outdone, 2 of the other dogs killed a skunk one night, as they wanted to contribute to Tom & Viv's "good time" as well! The flies were HORRID when we left, and Tom and Viv purchased additional fly products and worked exceedingly hard to keep the horses comfortable. This included washing fly sheets and face masks, and bathing the horses! When we returned home, we found the horses standing at the front fence hollering for us mid-afternoon. It turns out that "carrot time" had been a regular thing at that time of day! We will ABSOLUTELY move heaven and earth to have these two housesit for us again. They are such fun and genuine people and their efforts on behalf of our home and animals were amazing. Ten stars for sure.
