Theresa and Shawn are just amazing. They are kind, welcoming, generous and made my partner and I feel home immediately. The animal crew is incredibly fun and spending time with them was a gift. We took them 2 times a day to the beautiful beach that’s only one block away, everybody up in a golf cart. And adventure. Los Barriles is a really peaceful area, and their home is a safe space. I felt in a retreat for my whole stay there. I will recommend anybody who loves nature, the sea, and doggies to be here. Is a perfect combo. Thanks Theresa and Shawn ❤️
David is a great host very easy to communicate with and all the instructions provided were very clear. Although we didn’t get to spend much time together we really liked both David and the cutie pie Lilo. She is very easy to care for but definitely knows what she wants (or rather what she doesn’t) she is the one to walk you and decide where she wants to go. As David described perfectly she is more like a cat, enjoys sunbathing, playtime with her toys (or a simple plastic bottle), will have her moments of craziness out of nowhere and otherwise she will just ignore your existence. It was a great experience and we hope to see them again in the future!
Dixon is an absolute pleasure, a remarkably chill, affectionate, and communicative dog. He loves his twice daily walks touring the neighborhood, and otherwise will quietly hang around the house, checking in now and then for a bit of petting, or to give you a nuzzle. He lets you know when mealtime is approaching, or if he needs to step outside, with a patient look. I can’t imagine an easier dog to care for. Naomi carefully described Dixon’s routine and needs, and was prompt in answering questions by text. She likes getting pictures of how her boy is doing when she’s away. Naomi’s home is very clean and orderly, a Santa Fe design accented with Nepalese art. It’s very quiet in the house, remarkably so for being in such a fun neighborhood. Santa Fe’s Railyard District is right out the back gate. It’s very walkable, with restaurants, bars, museums, and galleries, and Dixon’s usual park, all a block or two away. The train to Albuquerque is right there, too. If you like conceptual art, I highly recommend the Art Vault and Site Santa Fe.
Dee and Jimmy live in a lovely part of the Country in a lovely house with 3 lovely dogs. I mainly looked after Pixie and Joseph as Ellie stayed elsewhere. All 3 dogs are very sociable, friendly and loving. They are very well behaved with an affable manner and each dog has it's own personality. They were very easy to take care of. Dee and Jimmy couldn't do enough for me and it was wonderful to meet them and get to know them. There are lots of lovely places nearby to explore and great transport links if one wanted to go further afield with or without Pixie and Joseph. Anyone who secures a house sit with Dee and Jimmy will be very fortunate.
This was our favorite housesit! Richard and Fiona are the best hosts! Richard picked us up at the airport and brought us back to the house where Fiona was preparing a delicious dinner for us all to share. We ended up staying up late and chatting with them for several hours - they are just the nicest, most down to earth people. The house sit itself was amazing - the cats were so easy as they had a cat flap and were able to come and go as they pleased. Mungo would join us on the patio most mornings for coffee, and Eric warmed up after a few days and started joining us in the lounge in the evenings for T.V. time. Richard and Fiona have curated a beautiful home that is colorfully decorated and is so warm and cozy, and the garden is stunning - the flowers blooming were incredible and we picked fresh ones every day. They even have a wood burning pizza oven that we used a few times - what a treat! We spent most days with the bi-fold doors in the kitchen open, enjoying the gorgeous weather and view out to the garden. Bearsted itself was completely charming. Right on the corner outside the house there are a couple of corner shops with essentials, a chippy and a pharmacy. And then Literally two minutes walk from the house and you are in the woodland trust - a beautiful area full of little walking trails, a church, a playground, etc. Also about 10 minutes down the road is Mote Park - that was just lovely, there was a lake, tons of walking trails, a little cafe, etc. Walking into the village center was easy as well and there were a few great pubs, a butcher and a coffee shop. We had a large Tesco delivery, but there was also a Coop about 10 minutes walk away that had anything you could need on the daily. We did not have a car and didn't miss it at all, the house is very well located and they very kindly let us use their bikes, although you really can easily get everywhere on foot as well. 10 outta 10 recommend this sit and we hope to be able to come back!
Lisa and Ian were wonderful Hosts. We got to meet them a couple of weeks before since. We don’t live terribly far away. They welcomed us not only with they’re beautiful home but also with a cake and a drink. They were super accommodating and friendly. They showed around the home. We got the opportunity to meet Jura and Angus, the doggos and Monty and Dougal (the cats), briefly. During the initial meeting, Ian and Lisa showed us around the local area, by walking the dog’s walking route together, with the doggo’s. This was very pleasant and helpful for when we came to do the sit. Upon arrival for the sit, Lisa and Ian were just as accommodating as the initial meeting. We were provided with a beautiful, clean and tidy home as well as a homemade brownie, made by Lisa and Ian opened up a bottle of wine, just as they were leaving, for myself and Harriet to enjoy that evening. These were unexpected but very kind of them to do. They were super tasty. Lisa and Ian provide you with a beautiful, big room with en-suite in a stunning home, in an incredible location with a beautiful garden. They’re home comes with a huge garden, where you can enjoy the greenhouse, fresh herbs being grown (great if you enjoy cooking), a hot tub, big pond (with ducks), lots of greenery and kayaying, which you can do on the River Great Ouse at the end of they’re garden, during the summer months. We were fortunate enough to have wonderful sunny weather so we got the opportunity to take out the Kayak’s and kayak up the River. This was a highly enjoyable experience. Very unique! Jura and Angus were just a pure joy to take care of. We thoroughly enjoyed our time with them. They made the sit even more enjoyable with their friendly and bubbly personalities. They’re so sweet. They get very excited initially, to see you and then they’re very calm and relaxed. They really thrive off of their routine and they are so well behaved. They love walks and they’re brilliant walkers. They also love fetch in the back garden. They’re very snuggly and affectionate too. They love attention, petting and affection, oh and of course they’re treats ha. We really connected with them, during our stay, we will miss them a lot. Monty and Dougal (the cats), are much more independent so we didn’t get to see them as much. However, Monty got a lot more confident during our stay and chilled in our space, as well as letting us pet him a few times. Dougal, is even more shy and likes to hide around the house, we saw him less. However, we did manage to pet him once on the first night and I believe, with him, that’s an achievement. All the animals are very easy to care for. They’re all friendly and they make the stay that bit better. Overall, we highly recommend Lisa and Ian’s sit. This sit takes you away from the hustle and bustle and brings you to peace and tranquility. They’re pets, home, the location and them as Host’s make this the ideal place to be as sitter.

Elizabeth has been our dog walker/pet sitter since 2023. Our dog, Charlie, needs 3 walks a day and Elizabeth takes good care of him. He gets exercise and enjoys time in her company. She is also great when our fire alarms went off in our house during our last trip. She disarmed them and sent pictures. We were happy she was able to take care of the problem. She is a great communicator and I highly recommend her to those who want to leave their animal with a responsible and caring pet sitter!

Elizabeth has been watching our first rescue dog Nico since we got him in 2021, and now our latest addition, Vinny. As with a lot of rescues, ours had some social/ behavioral issues in the beginning, but Elizabeth is an expert. She knows how to work with and around those issues and also make recommendations. The controlled socialization our dogs get when staying overnight with Elizabeth have been immensely helpful to their training. They come home pooped and happy from all the playing! She also offers reasonable pricing and flexible scheduling. If you’re in the Davis area, highly recommend giving Elizabeth a call.
Elizabeth is awesome, she takes wonderful care of our Jack Russell mix and border collie mix. They always come home happy and smiling and well cared for. She sends lots of pictures to keep us updated and we are really grateful for her skill with the dogs. Our border collie is on medication which Elizabeth skillfully administers and doesn’t always get along with other dogs in our experience, but Elizabeth is so good with her. She always comes home better trained and socialized then we left her :-)

My big boy Bengal, Dezi had a great time here. The facility was very nice and clean too. He got his own two room suite! The staff made him feel safe and loved and he wasn’t stressed when I picked him up. This was his first time away from home and I wasn’t sure how it would go. He will be coming back to visit again.
I have used Best Friends since 2002. All of my dogs have done great and I had a dog with some “issues” and she was handled well. There were never any problems after their visit at the “spa” as we referred to it. My two small dogs just returned from their spa visit and Max was on medication and he did great and our Gracie was happy too. Highly recommend!! 🐾🐾

We brought our Golden, Lola, here for the first time for a full grooming experience. She is terrified of loud noises--the girl who met us at check-in was extremely gentle with our dog, calming, and got her to settle down. We knew immediately that Lola was in good hands. They brought Lola out looking better than she ever has at any other grooming appointment--complete with a fresh bandana and bow. We loved our experience here!
First time with Best Friends over the Christmas holiday. She was pretty excited to go with the staff and seemed great when we picked up. We had a long delay on our return train ride and the staff was very understanding. I felt very comfortable with her accommodations and would definitely use them again next time we travel.

Rose has been our go-to pet sitter for three years now. We have two large male house cats. Rose provides peace of mind while we are gone, in part because she posts us by text early each morning with a short report on that morning's visit and how the cats are. She also makes written notes on each visit and leaves them for us. She is careful and conscientious and very easy to work with. We have never had a problem with her service and recommend Always Available whole- heartedly.
Rose watched my two boxers for me. It was somewhat nerve wracking having a non family member watch my girls. But Rose is very professional and thorough. During the meet and greet my dogs seemed to settle fairly well with her presence too. She texts a picture and update every day. Would definitely use her again!

I recently had Rose watch my eight dogs (two large dogs and six small dogs) and my two cats. I was gone overnight and my pets are not used to this. However I am pleased to say that my pets have taken kindly to Rose and they were well taken care of when I was gone. Rose sent text pictures with each of her visits. Unfortunately she had to clean up after one of my dogs but the place was immaculate when I got home. I highly recommend rose for pet sitting and I plan on using her in the future.
We highly recommend Rose, Always Available Pet Sitting. Right from the beginning Rose was organized and business-like, taking note of the names of each pet, the amount of food, times of day to be fed, locations for food, treats, etc. Rose cared for our 4 dogs and cat for 9 days while we went on vacation. She did not hesitate to come an extra day when our flight was canceled last minute. Rose did a lot more than just feed our fur babies. She spent time playing with them as well as watching their behavior to make sure they got along and played together safely. (We have 3 large dogs and a small beagle.) She even called us to make sure we were comfortable with what she saw. She left notes from each day and also texted us notes and photos. It’s clear Rose loves animals and has experience with animal behavior. We felt so much more at ease on our vacation knowing Rose was watching our pets. We will be using Rose’s services again.
Tug Dogs and owner Erin was one of the best finds in our first-time dog parent experience. We began with trainer Rebecca on some foundational training for our puppy, Bandon. These days we take him to Tug Dogs for doggy daycare 2 - 3 times per week, as well as for boarding. To say we have peace-of-mind when our dog is at Tug Dogs is an understatement! We know he is safe, having a total blast, and getting all of his high-energy needs met running, wrestling, and swimming with the other pups. Erin is incredibly knowledgeable and takes great care in grouping the right pups for play, and knows/helps reinforce everything we’re working on behavior-wise. She’s also great at posting regular updates and we love being able to see what he’s up to during the day! Our dog is incredibly friendly and well-socialized with other dogs and we know it is all because of the positive experiences he has with all his doggy friends at Tug Dogs. Highly recommend Erin and her team!!
I think Erin with Tug Dogs is the 11th trainer that we contacted for help with our sweet but very sensitive 5 year-old dog. She is the only one who actually helped us make progress. She did this by teaching us how to recognize our dog’s emotions so that we can make sure to help him feel safe, which resulted in a significant decrease in his problematic behaviors. My dog is a much happier and more well-adjusted version of himself thanks to Erin guiding us on how to best support him. She has truly changed his life, and ours, and I could not be more grateful to her. I trust no one more than her when it comes to dog behavior.
This positive review has been due for a long time. Loba has been one of Erin and Tug Dogs team's clients since he was 7 months old. Debby, Loba’s big sister, joined us when she was 2 years old. We sent Loba to Tug Dogs for a 3-week board and train program 3 years ago, followed by twice-weekly daycare and boarding whenever we needed to be out of town. He has come such a long way, from being a timid, fear-aggressive dog to becoming dog-friendly and able to socialize with guests visiting our home under our guidance. We never thought these days could happen, but our dream came true with the tremendous help from Erin and the Tug Dogs team. They also offered customized new dog introduction lessons when we knew Loba desperately needed a companion. They helped us introduce Debby to our family and settle them into their new environment smoothly. Now, Loba and Debby are best friends forever, and I can’t imagine anything separating them. If you are struggling to get your life back in order, need peace of mind with dog training, daycare, and boarding, we cannot recommend trainer Erin and Tug Dogs highly enough. She saved my boy’s life from behavioral euthanasia and brought our life back on track. Now, we can go to restaurants, camping, dog parks, and anywhere else that is dog-friendly with our two fur babies. Our dream wouldn’t have come true without their professional help.

Ongoing socialization is crucial for the well-being of most pups. Tug Dogs provides a safe setting for just that. I am not a fan of dog parks and feel comfortable leaving Theo with Erin for the day. He absolutely loves spending time with her and the playful four-legged friends. We love Tug Dogs!

We've gotten coaching on training techniques, advice, troubleshooting and board and train and every time I've seen clear improvement in my dog's behavior and walked away with a solid understanding of how to continue the work. A couple of years ago, my husband and I adopted a stray dog from the Placer SPCA. We knew nothing about this three year old boxer-mix; she had no name and no history. We knew she was adorable, very sweet and could walk on a leash and that was all. We didn’t know if she liked other dogs or children, so we needed an expert to decode our pups body language for us. We reached out to Erin at Tug Dogs hoping she could help us. After a one day observational visit at Tug Dogs, Erin knew just who our new girl was! We arrived to see our girl playing with other dogs (what a relief). She had tailored a plan just for us and our Roxy girl. Roxy now visits Tug Dogs regularly to spend quality time socializing in Erin’s playgroup so that positive reinforcement there, makes her a success every where we take her. She is so well behaved that she is invited back every where we visit! Roxy is a social butterfly, confident, well mannered under all circumstances and we have Erin and Tug Dogs to thank for that!!
The Trainers Course was so informative and covered so much. The format was easy to follow in that not only was there the lecture but instructional videos on every aspect of the training. The sections on behavioral and client coaching were so helpful. I have followed Erin and Tug dogs on social media for awhile, I am very impressed with her success and training methods. I highly recommend Tug dogs trainers course. I hope to be able to join the Trainers Club and anymore courses Erin offers. Thank you, Erin, and happy training 😁!
Took our Golden to the splash pad night. They had the nicest facility!! So much room for the dogs to run around in, very clean and no broken toys/furniture. My golden had so much fun and I will definitely be signing her up for a day care session.
Great place to take your dog for day care or swim fun. I've taken my bullmastiff to day care and open swim. She lived both and came home tired and happy. Bit expensive buy you're paying for good care of your dog. I really appreciate that they screen your pet and have separation of different temperaments. Open swim in wknds is great and pretty cheap at $10 per dog. I highly recommend and will be back often. They have boarding service too, but I've never used it.
We rented the pool with some dog park friends and had a blast. The staff are very friendly and the pool was ready to have our pack of dogs rage. Some seating provided, bring a towel for yourself and wear clothes you don't mind getting soaked because the dogs will shake all over you!

I took my dog, Huffy, to the Animal Den for their open swim. She had a blast! All the doggies loved the pool and I got to enjoy some wine while she played. It was a win all around! My only gripe is the admission fee is $10. The fee is reasonable but it does keep us from going as frequently as we would like!
My dog has been going here for daycare 4 days a week for the last year and is so happy and excited whenever we arrive. Previous places we went for daycare I could see him on camera just sitting by the gate wanting to leave, and he was never eager to walk through the door. I think the staff here have gotten to know him and what makes him happy to be there so he feels much more comfortable. They also do cute holiday activities and dogs of the week which are adorable extra touches. Overall it’s been a great experience!
Such nice and caring individuals! They can accommodate almost anything! Very patient and compassionate for not only the fur babies but the fur parents as well! As for my Meeko he is having the time of his life for his first time. He is literally smiling. Great decision to board him here. I would high recommend this place!
They have been taking care of my loved ones for nearly 40 years. I've never boarded my dogs anywhere else and hope I never have to. They give great care and love and my dogs have fun there. And I have peace of mind.
I am so thankful to Vickie at BOW -WOW PET SITTING!!! I am the kind of dog mom that puts my 2 boys Doug and Rusty (dachshunds) above myself. I set my house up so that THEY are happy and comfortable. I have a low bed,, doggie ramps everywhere and there are dog toys all over. I would say that they are a little spoiled ❤️🐾🐾❤️ I only trust a few people with my dogs. I recently moved to Fair Oaks. I searched online for pet sitting and called Vicky, the owner of Bow-Wow pet sitting and boarding. I asked many questions. I then looked at her reviews on Yelp and decided that I would give her a call back. She was able to take my dogs the next day. She was so great! My dogs were barking and have separation anxiety. I immediately felt comfortable with Vicky. She is very kind and obviously loves animals. Her house is set up perfectly - she can separate dogs if necessary but still see them, they are not locked away in a closed room. She had a big wonderful yard to play in. When I picked up my boys they were happy and not stressed. Now they WANT to go there! Even though I'm done moving I intend to to take them to Vicky's at least once a week because they love her and I don't take them in the car and leave them when running errands. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND VICKIE AND BOW -WOW PET SITTING!!! She is reasonably priced and very accommodating. ******************!!!!💕
I am appalled at the neglect and inhumane treatment of my dog. We left my dog Roxxy there for the weekend over 4th of July. We made sure they were aware she was a rescue dog with anxiety, and we were guaranteed that our dog would not be left alone during the fireworks. After we got our dog home, that night we realized her mouth was severally injured. Apparently, she had been left outside in a metal crate during fireworks while the owners of Bow Pow Pet sitting went to the liquor store, and tried to chew her way out causing the damage to her mouth. Multiple teeth had been broken off, her gums were destroyed and she had literally chewed so long and hard the bone of her jaw was damaged. We were never notified that our dog had been injured under their care, we had to wait to find out when we got her back, and with the extent of the injury being as bad as it was I have a hard time believing there were no signs of blood or injury when it happened. The surgery to fix my dog's mouth was over $3,500, which Bow Wow Pet sitting never even tried to repay. I felt the owners of Bow Wow pet sitting were unprofessional and down right negligent to have let this happen. To top it all off, after multiple complaints from us they still have pictures of my dog on their website, against my approval, to advertise their business. Usually I am not one to write angry online reviews but I feel strongly that they were negligent towards my dog.
My dogs were well taken care of in a family style environment. Both had individual needs and their needs were well taken care of. Was so pleased with the great care both dogs received! Recommend!

River dogs resort is absolutely amazing! I am a bit overly protective of my dog and I never hesitate to leave him at River dogs resort. He can tell when we’re pulling into their driveway and is immediately excited. He gets to play with lots of friendly dogs all day and I never have to worry about how he is doing. The owner, Dina, is a true dog lover and treats all the dogs as if they are her own. She is flexible and always looking out for what will be best for your dog. My dog is an 85 pound German shepherd mix who has lots of energy and he always comes home happy and tired. You should look no further if you want a place your doggo will love.

River Dogs is a home-away-from-home for our 2-year-old Golden Retriever, Emma. She is always in a good mood after we pick her up. River Dogs is the best! our dog loves it there and the owner is so nice and helpful and loves dogs! our flight was canceled at Christmas and rescheduled for days later after we had already dropped our dog off. River Dogs extended our kennel time so we could spend longer with family and took such good care of her. so helpful and understanding!!!!! will always go there!!!

Yep, a 5 star review for Dina and River Dog Resort! We needed a last minute fun and safe spot for our 12 yo American Foxhound and were so happy Dina had an opening for Chuck. Shortly after arriving, Chuck was adventurous and tried to escape by scaling a fence but Dina did not let that affect her ability to provide safe and loving care for his stay. Upon our return she told us what happened and figured out solutions for his next stay communicating in a professional, caring and understanding way. We are impressed and highly recommend RDR!
Our boxer Abbey LOVES going to see Miss Dina every week! Abbey always has such a fun time playing with her dog buddies. We also board our dog here a few times a year and always know she will be very well taken care of. River Dogs Resort is such a great location and we will never go anywhere else!
Dina and her staff have been taking care of our two large dogs for about 5 years now! They were always responsive and easy to do pick ups and drop offs. The pups were always well cared for, happy to go(could not wait to get taken back to play!!), and exhausted when we picked them up! We were very sad to move away because it was such a wonderful gift to have found such a caring place for our fur-babies! I recommend them without any hesitation!!!
We have always been a let's-find-a-house-sitter type family. We were in a pinch and River Dogs came to the rescue! We have ditched a house sitter completely now, as our rambunctious golden puppy loves to wrestle and play in their large yard while our small dog hangs out, snuggles and shares kisses with Dina. We highly recommend giving River Dogs a whirl!
We had a great experience with Bentley’s. Boarded my dog over Christmas holidays. The place seemed super clean, and my dog was in a great mood, and smelled great when I picked her up. I’ve boarded her in other places where she comes home smelling of urine, so it was a nice experience having her come home so happy and clean. The owner was also super accommodating and friendly.
We just had a pretty awful experience at Bentley's Ruff House. Our dog stayed there twice, but I can no longer recommend this place. The second day into our trip I received an upsetting phone call from the owner and video clip that was sent showing our dog in a corner with an employee and our dog acting aggressive toward her which we have never witnessed from him since he was a puppy until now 5 1/2 years later. I was pretty upset the rest of our short trip and wanted to pick up my dog a day early once we arrived back in town, but because it was outside of their pickup window of 7-9 am that day she absolutely refused. I asked her to reconsider and let her know I was willing to come at any convenient time for her that afternoon or evening, but she made me wait until the next day which was extremely difficult and emotional for me. The owner repeated to me several times over the phone during our two conversations that "this is not a home environment this is a boarding facility and is very stressful for dogs". The owner showed zero sympathy on our phone call and continued to use my first name while talking over me, and even had her employee listening in on the other line. I know this because she also started speaking over me during the conversation. I received the worst customer service ever from Bentley's. Thankfully, we were allowed to pick up our dog the next day first thing in the morning and he seems to be back to his old, sweet self. I am not one to write negative reviews, but I think others need to be aware of our experience.
We have been taking our dogs here for years. They are fantastic! My dogs always are happy to go & are clean when we pick them up. Sometimes our lab isn’t (but that’s her issues, not because they do not try). I know they have had some bad word of mouth, but please be open to the fact that there are always 3 sides to everything! Each individual parties experience and what actually happened! Please don’t try to shutdown a small business that provides excellent care for many of our fur babies!

They love our dogs and treat them like their own. Great for a one day or week long drop off with reasonable prices and fun accommodations. Great staff and owners who really care about all of the dogs.
This place advertises boarding for a flat $50 a day and they say it includes free play all day for your dog. They state they aren't like other boarders who charge extra to let the dog out of a crate. But as you read further down you discover they have added a $25 per day for "day care" so essentially its $25 to let your dog out of the crate. For two small dogs it would total $150 per day and I have to bring my own food. Plus, the drop of and pick up times are extremely and ridiculously limited. For the same weekend my room at the Holiday Inn is less! So its costing more for two crates than it is for a hotel room with free maid service! This place is set up for the comfort and convenience of the owners and not for customers. They have the audacity to charge these exorbitant amounts and then severely limit when you can drop off or pick up your dog. Unbelievable.
They are an amazing group of ladies here! Always so friendly and helpful! Ive been taking my boy Kingston here when I need to travel and they have always been the best! Kingston is always super excited when I take him there and when I pick him up! Its a fun doggy vacation for him. They always go above and beyond and give me peace of mind knowing my dog is loved and safe. I will never go anywhere else! 1000% recommend them! 6 stars if i could!
This place is much cheaper than its competitor on the other side of town. They are further from our house but it's worth it. They are a great family and take care of our dogs when we are gone for a few days. They always cater to their usual customers and let them know when they are getting really busy so that they can set dates. Their facility is very clean and they will even give the dogs a bath if they are there for longer than 2 days. Highly recommend.

I used to be a loyal customer and highly recommended them, but I unfortunately can no longer support them after having a deeper understanding of their protocols. Before getting into the worst of it, I'd like to point out that they have astro turf which unsurprisingly causes dogs' feet to get irritated on hot days. In their report cards, they will simply say they noticed they were getting irritated and treated them, but probably won't tell you why unless you ask. I started as a client with my husky Freya. Unfortunately she died in their care due to unknown causes. Their story was she was outside and started having irregular breathing, so they took her inside where she collapsed and died. She was 9 and had glaucoma, so I gave them the benefit of the doubt even though she was otherwise a healthy dog who had no problems going on 3-5mile runs with me when the weather wasn't too hot. Looking back, maybe I should have been more skeptical. When I got another husky mix, Loki, I started boarding him there and he loved it. However after a little over a year of boarding him there with no major issues other than being an overly enthusiastic husky puppy, he developed a food aggression issue while in their care. Freya had some food aggression issues when I first got her and I have taken care of multiple dogs with the problem before, so I am very well educated on prevention and training for it. When I asked about their feeding protocols, they stated that they simply drop the food in front of the dog, leave the room for an hour, and then come back in to take it away to get pressure washed whether there is food left or not. When Loki first demonstrated food aggression, their response was to attempt to remove the bowl with their foot or a fake prosthetic hand. This is textbook what not to do and will absolutely CAUSE AND INTESIFY food aggression. When I pointed this out and suggested that they should implement standard sit/stay feeding protocol, use redirection techniques, or to not try to take the food bowl away while the dog is still in the room, their response was essentially that they don't have time to do that and don't want to train their staff in standard dog handling practices. They even commented that past customers have suggested the same thing. This tells me that they are entirely aware that their protocols can cause food aggression and that they refuse to do anything about it. Apart from this incident, Loki seemed to love all the workers I saw him interact with. They all looked on the younger side, but they were extremely friendly and positive. I just wish the owners cared enough to train them better.
From my work account 3 years ago: I have a Husky mix who’s a handful, mindful but energetic. The staff have always been patient and loving towards Luna. I feel blessed to live close enough to use Local Bark. Last year I traveled almost 70% of the time for work. If it wasn’t for them I’m not sure how I would’ve gotten by… EDIT: I have since moved to Midtown Sacramento so I no longer go there but or Pomeranian gets groomed at their Power Inn location "Response from the owner 2 years ago Oh Luna! 🤗 She keeps us on our toes and we love that crazy girl so much! Amazing staff. Reasonable prices. All types of services from Daycare and Boarding, to Grooming, to Day Training, Boarding School, and Puppy Prep School. THEY EVEN HAVE A WALK-IN POOL MADE SPECIAL FOR THE DOGS!! Large & Small Dogs are welcome, as well as PITBULL FRIENDLY!!! You can tell the staff LOVE dogs, and genuinely care about what they do. Very trustworthy, welcoming, and easy to leave your pets with. The girls at the front desk and attentive and polite, and make things like checking-in your dog, or providing any information needed about the business easy. I highly recommend The Local Bark for all your Dog Care, Boarding, Grooming, Training, and occasional swimming needs!
Our dog has a great time at Local Bark... always comes home happy and tired. It's awesome that they have a pool that he can enjoy, one of the reasons I picked Local Bark in the first place. The facilities appear to be very clean and the staff are always nice. Oh, and they post pictures every day on their facebook page... so it's fun to see what your dog has been up to. Definitely recommend!
We love the Local Bark! Our dog has been coming here since she was a puppy ( she is now 9! ). We don’t use it as often as we did in the past as their prices have gone up, but when we need care for her overnight this is our go to place. They have different sized “rooms” for the dogs to stay, all day play time out back and offer grooming services as well. Our dog is happy here!
There is nothing that excites our yellow lab, Austin, more than going to the Local Bark. I usually take Austin to the Local Bark, but the first time my husband took him he passed the turn to go in to the Local Bark. Immediately Austin started barking and vocalizing. We are sure he was saying, "Dad, you missed it! You missed it! Turn around! Turn around now!! Austin just graduated from their 18 day in house training. Ivyonnne is a great trainer and Austin has made great strides in his obedience and self control. The Local Bark is an absolutely wonderful place for dogs. Austin gives it five paws up.
My puppy is very energetic and needs to socialize more with doggy friends. This was his first day at his evaluation. It made my day when I saw his picture, he looks happy and looks like he's smiling. He was happy and very tired when I picked him up because he must have played a lot. I will definitely take him on a regular basis.

Editing my review after picking up my dog.I'm so happy I found a good boarding facility! The local bark is definitely a five-star place. My big mush of a pitbull really enjoyed her 13 night stay here over Christmas!I love the pictures I got to see on Facebook of her enjoying herself. I picked her up and she was so happy and clean, they gave her a bath for me. She's practically dancing in the waiting room while we were leaving. I like that the local bark has the most rigorous vaccine requirements in the areabecause my dog came home very healthy so I appreciate it! Also not much more expensive than any place around it's affordable in my opinion and they provide trusting and safe care for your dogs. Highly recommended I will definitely use again!
Chloe has been going to the Local Bark since she was 16 weeks old. She loves all the attention she gets from the staff and has a blast with the other dogs during Play Care and Overnight visits. Love them.
Cindy is taking care of our 2 cats now for quite some time now. They love her and she sends us pictures and short videos every day. She’s taking great care of the cats and our house too. She is very thoughtful and thorough and trustworthy.
Our kitty knew Cindy when they first met; don't know how, but it was comforting from a pet mom/dad point of view. Previous care was reliance on friends/neighbors/family. Trust of your home and your pet to a sitter was very important in selecting the right person. We have used Cindy many times and are so grateful to have her as trusted sitter.
We had a great first experience with Cindy watching our big goofball dogs. Cindy took notes at our meet and greet. Plus her forms ask all the important questions to make sure your pets get the best care. Pics and videos showed how much our boys enjoyed Cindy's visits! We already have her booked for our next getaway.
