Erik was very self efficient and kept us up to date on how our pets were doing. She kept us up to date with her plans on when she’d arrive and head out. She was considerate of our time and space and did a good job all around.

Tenaj & Tino are a lovely couple. I was happy to meet them the day prior to leaving for a two-week trip to show them around the neighborhood and get them acclimated to the house and dogs. They were very self-sufficient once I was gone but did send a message or a picture every few days. Tenaj also helped me with a personal favor, sending me a picture of a prescription I'd forgotten at home, which was a lifesaver!

One of my dogs loved Tenaj and was begging for cuddles and sitting on her lap in every picture and video. Unfortunately, my other dog wasn't herself when I got back. She's stayed without me for weeks at a time before and since then with other sitters and even in the kennel and always been happy and smiling upon my return. However, this time she seemed timid; she was flinching and stayed close to her spot on the sofa instead of roaming around the house and playing like she normally would.

I asked her dog walker (who'd continued to walk her daily in my absence) if he'd noticed the difference and he said yes, she'd been like that almost the whole time I was gone. He said he found it unusual that when he'd come by to pick them up, he'd have to get her off the sofa instead of her running to the door to greet him.

I asked Tenaj if anything unusual had happened (for example, one time Prana ran into a tree at the dog park and she was scared of the park for MONTHS afterward, so I wanted to rule out any accidents) and she said no, that Prana had been playful and active throughout their visit. I know that my dogs are spoiled, so it could have just been that she was over-sensitive to any corrections or discipline but I was wracked with guilt for weeks after getting home, concerned that her fun-loving personality had changed for good. (it didn't! she's back to her old self now!)

About 10 days after getting back from my trip, I came home to find that Prana had taken a bag from the pharmacy off the dining table (her treats also come in a paper bag) and I gasped, concerned that she could have eaten the tablets inside (she didn't.) When I did so, she immediately cowered with her tail between her legs and looked at me like she was scared. I found that VERY unusual because she loves taking things (like a shoe or a sock or anything I leave on the table) to her bed when she's looking for attention, and I usually playfully take it back as she wags her tail. I DID warn Tenaj and Tino to take that into consideration and to leave anything fragile or important or that could be confused for a toy in their room when leaving the house. Her reaction made me wonder if she'd gotten in trouble for taking their things. Again, perhaps she just got her feelings hurt by a firm "no" but, if that's the case, I would have liked it to be communicated to me.

In the end, I canceled the second sit with them because I could tell that Prana, for whatever reason, wasn't comfortable. I appreciated that Tenaj was so understanding about the change of plans, as I know it wasn't convenient for either of us on short notice so close to the holidays.

Sherry was so wonderful with every aspect of our house sit. She was very easy to communicate with and responded quickly to our inquiries. Our cats were so comfortable with her immediately. While we were away she updated us with photos and news about how our cats were doing. She left our home cleaned and sorted, including vacuuming and taking out our garbage and recycling. We could not have been happier with having Sherry housesit and would invite her again in a heartbeat!
