Ian made sure we had everything we needed throughout the sit. His house is also amazing, really well equipped and in a lovely location. We'd love to come back anytime.
Shiva is a very friendly and hospitable person. His dog, Jeanie, is one of the sweetest we have met. Jeanie likes small walks and playing with her little stuffed animal. She is also very sociable and likes meeting new people. As long as you take her out 3 times a day, and give her her food, vitamins and water, and love, you are good. The location of the apartment was also great with lovely views. There are nice bakeries and restaurants around that you could check out while staying there. We loved Jeannie for sure.

I am a registered nurse and this facility is super friendly helpful and extremely patient as my client was disabled and had service dog beyond just training classes they do boarding day care I know from picking up the owners dog their outdoor setting is cooler than most ideal close to airport convenient and most importantly fun ! it just takes a moment to be kind.
New customer of Paws University. My pup seems to enjoy her time there but I am dissatisfied with a charge they added to my bill. It's not about the $35. It is the principal. A boarding pick up at 12pm (for those who are new) will be charged an extra $35. When I reserved the boarding in person, I informed the person that I'll be dropping off my pup at 3pm and picking her up next day at 3pm. I was not informed that there's an extra charge of $35 for post 12pm pick up. There wasn't an email reminder regarding pick up and drop off time. It's not stated clearly on their FAQ or website. But, when called, the manager said that it is on the boarding contract and on their site, way at the bottom of the page. While I do not mind the $35, this in principal is uncool.
I haven't boarded my dogs here yet but I will say, 5 stars all around for communication. I had filled out the application in 1 day and they got back to me instantly as well as setting up an eval quickly. Because of unforseen circumstances, I ended up having to cancel and AGAIN, they got back to me the same day. I appreciate this as communication is important so people can work other things out. Looking forward to doing business with PAWS in the future.
The Paws team and facility are exceptional! My work requires travel to the mainland monthly and our GS, Kila, always looks forward to seeing the employees and other dogs each time we arrive. I couldn't do my job without Paws and the terrific staff. Brett K

Recently moved to island and needed groomer who not only does good work but is good with my older (age 14) dogs. Really happy with Nancy who has years of experience. The setting is great and my dogs seemed really happy. It's great to have found a really good groomer!
I’ve taken my dachshund to several different groomers here in Kona and Paws University is by far the best. They have many different services. We’ve never done the day care but the two groomers Colleen & Nancy are amazing.They obviously care a great deal about their job and adore all the pups that come in to be serviced. It’s a wonderful establishment!
Our Shepinois pup Koda loves going to Paws! He has enjoyed daycare and boarding. The staff are super friendly as well.
I have been bringing my dog, June, to Kona Doggie Daycare and Spa for the past year for both daycare and boarding, and Donna is GREAT!! June has fun with her dog buddies while she is there, and we are sooo thankful for the air-conditioned setting since Kailua-Kona can get sooo hot in the day!! Donna is extremely knowledgeable about dogs and their physical, behavioral and medical needs, and she has identified areas on my dog that needed further testing/follow-up by my vet so VERY THANKFUL for that!! June LOVES her time with Donna and her buddies at Kona Doggie Daycare and Spa!!!
Donna has been watching my dog Louie for over a year and a half, and even though he is old and has some health issues, she has no problem taking him in. He gets to socialize with other dogs (really important for him as we live alone), and she always makes sure he has/takes his medication. If I could give 6 stars I would.
It was such a relief to have found them at the last minute, however, we won’t use them again. The facility seemed to be very unsanitary and smelled really bad. Most of our dogs were dirtier when we picked them up than when they were dropped off and I’m sorry but when I pay for a service, I don’t expect a business to tell me they did me a favor and now I need to do them a favor!
Wasn't thrilled to leave my dog after meeting the "sitter" but had no other choice as the hotel i was staying in didn't allow animals. Got my dog back with a few bumps more and he drank a huge bowl of water like he hadn't had any in quite a while. He was also skittish. I don't know what happened BUT I won't use this doggy "daycare" again.
!!DO NOT LEAVE YOUR PET HERE!! Like mentioned in previous reviews I feel pretty strongly that there is some kind of mistreatment going on here.

Susan from Pet Gal Kona took wonderful care of my multiple cat household. Her visits were on time and very thorough and she provided detailed reports about each visit and each kitty. I highly recommend her and will be using Pet Gal services in the future for all my pet sitting needs.
We had not used a dog walker before so we didn't know what to expect. Turns out it was a wonderful decision! Susan was exceptional! And our dog absolutely adored her. In fact, she would wait on the couch for her to come and they became best buds. Highly recommend!
Danielle was a terrific cat sitter! She communicated with us daily and provided pictures of our cat; as well as the water fountain level, cleaned cat litter, wet food set on the feeding station, and the dry food dispenser. She also cleaned everything up and retrieved our mail. I am extremely happy with the service she provided and will definitely be using her/Pet Gal in the future.
Pet Gal, especially Danielle, was fantastic! Danielle was able to get my shy little Lucy to come out of her shell. The reports and pictures made it much easier to be away, knowing she was in good hands. I will only use Pet Gal in the future.

I recently went on a mother/daughter trip. My husband cannot physically walk our Whippet/Border Collie mix, Thalia, so while I was gone she started misbehaving. I was desperate because she was taking her own walks and sneaking into the neighbors yard. Yikes! I knew she needed her walks and I contacted “The Pet Gal Kona” to see if they could help me. Mind you, I was not home, traveling on the Mainland but was able to easily contact them via their website. Wow, I got a response immediately! Susan was quickly set up the next day for a meet and greet. My Thalia is a bit on the shy side but Susan won her over on their daily walks. She gave me a follow up of their walks everyday. Wonderful that they show they care about us dog mamas ❤️ It was such a success that I will continue to use them. Mahalos to the team at The Pet Gal Kona!
Susan was kind enough to open our home for a day long drop off of our very elderly Peanut. Susan is very experienced and tremendously companionate. She sent us several updates through out the day (including videos) and we felt our Peanut was in the perfect hands. We have already booked Peanut for another stay this week. I have been using The Pet Gal weekly for 3 months now, and I can absolutely vouch for their service. My main walker is Bre and she is just fantastic! I think my dog loves her walks with Bre more than with me. Bre gives her enough exercise and then reinforces my dog's training with healthy treats. I live the app they use to track what is going on during the walk and to add commentary and photos from the walk. It is very comforting to know that my dog is getting what she needs in my absence and that she enjoys it.
We were delighted with the help from PetGals. They were very very dependable, kept our dog happy, and provided a steady stream of email and photos to show how well things were going. Definitely recommend.

Everything was perfect. My senior dog Skipper was very well taken care of and loved while I was away. We received texts with pictures of him everyday. Bruce even gave him a bath before we picked him up!! We will definitely use Kona Dog Care again in future. Thank you Bruce!
Bruce was an unbelievable dog sitter! Wow did he take incredible care of our pug Roxy while we had to be off island for 10 days! She was loved, sat on his couch, had sit in the sun time in their beautiful backyard, and he even sent daily text updates! Bruce and his family went out of their way to settle our skittish dog Amber. After 2 days she settled in and had a good time both indoors and outdoors with the other dogs. After 8 days together Amber will be happy to go back the next time and Bruce will be happy to have her.
We can’t recommend Kona Dog Care enough. This was out first big trip since our pups joined our family, and we were very, very nervous about leaving them. We are so thankful to Bruce, Tata and Harry for the love and care they showered on Kea and Mea. We received almost daily updates, with pictures, which gave us peace of mind, and allowed us to have an amazing trip. Bruce has such a kind, gentle nature, and really helped Kea and Mea feel settled. Honestly, they had such a wonderful time and bonded so well with the other dogs that were in-house at the time that I’m not sure they were thrilled about coming home 🤣 It is a small, family run operation where the dogs live in the home, which makes all the difference in the world. Bruce and Kona Dog Care watched our dogs during Memorial day Weekend. They worked with us on food and eating schedule. We made sure that food was labeled with clear instructions. Bruce was so kind to ask about their personalities and habits. Bruce's son supplied lots of extra attention to our youngest dog. They limit the number of dogs allowed so each dog is well cared for. They have a fenced area for play and doing their business. We appreciated the daily notes and photos, making our trip less worrisome. We texted them as we left the airport to head to their home. Both dogs were leashed and ready to go when we got there. I feel like we have found treasure with this family. I made new travel plans the next morning. Finding an honest, kind, generous family that loved my dogs is such a blessing. I highly recommend them for your smaller dogs.
We are very pleased with the care of our pet provided by Kona Dog Care. It is very difficult to find someone you can trust and care for your pet. We had a great boarding kennel that we intrusted for over thirty years until they retired. So finding a boarding for our pet was a important process. We had a site visit and was very satisfied with the home that only took in small dogs that had other dogs with a outdoor run. It was a home type environment with no cages to house the pet. Bruce was very accommodating with food and feeding. Daily photos and comments on how our pet was getting along with the other dogs was sent to us on our 17 day trip. Our pet did very well and adjusted back at home upon his return.
We are happy to have Kona Dog Care take care of our dogs while we are away from home. We felt very comfortable with Bruce and his family the 1st time we went to see their place with our dogs. I can’t say enough about how amazing Kona Dog Care is. I have never been able to leave my 8 year old rescue dog, Ollie, alone or with anyone else due to his anxiety. When I had an unavoidable work trip scheduled, I was in a panic as to who could care for Ollie the way I do. I researched pet care all over the island and decided on Bruce and Tata because of their reviews. I was immediately impressed with the mandatory interview to see if Ollie was the right fit for them. They take great care in ensuring that those selected aren’t aggressive to other animals or humans. While I was away, I received daily updates along with pictures that really helped ease my own anxiety about leaving Ollie. They were loving and kind and paid extra special attention to Ollie’s needs. They even gave him a sweet bath before my arrival! If you’re looking for caregivers that will treat your fur baby like their own while simultaneously soothing your anxiety about leaving them, I highly recommend Kona Dog Care!
My dog had an awful experience here. I have never experienced such negligence leaving her anywhere. One of their excuses was that she is old but she lost 15 pounds over about five days and had poop on her butt when she was picked up. Never did I receive a phone call or text about her having diarrhea or not eating. She was shaking the whole way home when my sister picked her up and when I got her from my sister she wasn’t excited to see me. She was scared and thought she was in trouble which is very out of character and has never happened before with my high-energy and happy pup. Although I did get several follow-calls, their good standing doesn’t matter to me when the care could have been there all along. I’m very disappointed and she’s still recovering a few weeks later to gain her weight back. Do not bring your dog here or especially an older dog that cannot afford to have these experiences! They are not attuned to animals even though they’re probably nice people.
My dog's were full of life when I picked them up. Communication with the owners were easy and the area for them to run was awesome. Mahalo to Jim, and his team.
This is Buddy and Bailey third time to stay at Lucky D kennels. I am grateful there is such a place here in Kona to take your dogs. They don't have to be with a bunch of other dogs they have their own huge fence area to be with each other. My dog buddy isn't the most social dog so it is great that he doesn't have to be put with lots of other dogs. Jim, Megan and Dawn are great with my family - they are open to anything you might ask. I microwave chicken to add to the dog food and so does lucky D - if you ask them too...
How do I know it’s a great place? My dogs jump out of the car immediately and then sleep for days after. And for a few days after if they are outside and we open the truck doors? They jump in
My dogs LOVE Lucky D! All I have to say is "Wanna go to Lucky D?" and they get all excited! The private yards are plenty of space for them to run around and cruise. They have the company of other dogs, without the chance encounter of an agressive dog. Jim and Marie are the BEST! Your animals are your family, so when I'm away I know they are safe and having a ball! Mahalo for taking such great care of the Ladies!
They were a life saver when we needed a place for our dogs to stay in October 2022. I initially talked to the owner and he was very professional and friendly. I felt comfortable leaving my dogs in his care. Check in was good (rest of staff was just as friendly) and the facilities clean. When I picked my dogs up, they seemed well cared for. Thanks Lucky D!

My poor puppy stayed for one night. I got a call an hour before pick up time asking if she came with a limp and when I said no the owner had lots of excuses as to why she was limping but no actual explanation. 7/27 update still no contact with owner

I've taken my dogs to Lucky D Kennels for years now. It's the only boarding facility I trust with my dogs while I'm away. The property and kennels are pristine. The experienced staff are absolutely wonderful and very friendly. They treat my dogs like family. My dogs recognize the staff and get excited to see them every time! I couldn't be any happier with their care and customer service. I highly recommend them!
I have been a client of Kamuela Pet Care for 14 years and Lisa has always been a safe and trusted pet sitter. My dog Mochi loved staying there it was a second home to him. He was so excited to be dropped off there he would run into the house like a bullet and not look back. We have a new puppy now and plan to take our dog there when we travel again. Very safe.
Lisa at Kamuela Pet care is an absolute gem. She truly cares for all of her guest pets as her own. My dog has been visiting her for years and gets so excited every time we turn down her street.. he is ready to jump out of the car! As soon as my car door opens he runs to her front door and starts barking in excitement until she opens the door. The second the door opens he runs inside and starts playing with her other dogs! We don't have to worry one bit when he is with her. I don't know what we would do without her. We travel a ton for work and vacations which we would not be able to do without her!! Our boy is well fed.. we always bring his food and he gets to eat with the rest of the “pack”. We bring his bed for him to sleep in although sometimes I think he sneaks into bed with her and he husband who is also just amazing with the dogs! Our boy gets plenty of love and attention at his Auntie Lisas and when we pick him up he is sad to leave and all worn out from so much play time! Its a dream!! 🐶🐶
Lisa and her family have been dedicated sitters to my fur baby (which cane before my human baby) for years. Being my first (kid) it was imperative I felt I could trust Lisa and never once have I had an issue. Lisa's kind, loving, inclusive pack is an ideal setting for my little darlings, and I have never considered an alternate sitter. Lisa hasn't ever turned my request for service down and i always know my babies will be well fed, safe, and cozy. Kudos to Lisa and her entire family!!!!
Our pet sitter moved to the mainland after 10 years, and we were very concerned to find someone who could give our 11 year old French Bulldog the care she needs as a senior dog. We were thrilled to find Lisa and Kamuela Pet Care. Lisa is very focused on the dogs' needs and comfort and our RuthAnne was as happy and healthy as ever after her first stay with Lisa. We would not trust anyone else with Annie than Lisa. I love that she cares for smaller dogs and has them indoors at night. My Annie is timid and not much of a socializer. Lisa picked up on that right away and takes extra care. Her yard is nicely landscaped and well gated allowing dogs to explore, play and do their business. Lisa will text photos to you by request which for us is every time we she sits for us. We are so glad we found Lisa for Annie.

Tiphany was fantastic. She provided lots of feedback daily and took the cutest photos and we really felt good that someone was watching our for babies. She was really excellent and we really appreciate her. We have been using Shelley for almost 2 1/2 years now on a weekly basis to let our dogs out during the day while we are working and for overnights when we are on vacation. She is wonderful with our dogs and with us! She always lets us know how things are going. She was pet sitting our dogs during a brush fire last year that came close to the village and we were off island, and she had everything under control in case they needed to evacuate. She's marvelous! Now we always check to see if she's available BEFORE we make our vacation plans. I can't recommend her enough. Happy dog mom and happy dogs.🐾
We have had months of great experiences with Noreen and Bre! Noreen has been our main dog walker and Bre the backup so we know they will always show up. Noreen sends us great pics and shares the story of her visit, we love getting updates while we are at work. We highly recommend using this service for your fur babies
This was our first time using this service for our cats since moving to the Big Island. We received a text when the sitter arrived and a summary of the visit along with photos of our cats while they were playing with the sitter. We are now confident we can use this service for future visits and longer travel plans we have going forward, knowing our pets will be well looked after.
Shelley is amazing! We lost our 12 year old Rhodesian just before leaving for the mainland to see family. We knew we were leaving our other boy in good hands even though he missed his brother terribly. Shelley kept him close, made sure he ate and by weeks end he was playing again. Wainoloa pet sitting is a great company to do pleasure with. They took care of my 2 dogs while I was on the mainland , they send pictures of the dogs and give updates on them too . I'd recommend them to look after your pets!
Love these gals!!! My dog is notorious for trying to run from anyone that’s not me but the team has been so great and understanding of our concerns. I love the pics they send of his walks too!!
