It was good to arrive the afternoon before Martin and Irene left and be taken through the afternoon and morning routines. Martin cooked a wonderful meal and the apple pie was to die for. Toby didn’t take long after they left to settle into his routine of assuming the position. This is when he lays down on the floor in the snug and demands you give him lots of head and back rubs, typically rolling from side to side to ensure all areas are suitably attended to. With no cat flap he does let you know when he needs to go out and likes to peer in from the kitchen window or snug glass doors if you’re a bit slow checking whether he wants to come back in. Especially at this time of the year given lots of rain and wind. Ginge pops by, but not every day, for a feed and eventually let me give him some strokes. The neighbours either side dropped by and introduced themselves and I bought some wonderful eggs from Keith. You definitely need a car but there are lots of places to discover within easy reach. I especially loved Cockermouth and Keswick.
It was a pleasure to take care of Morro and Mija. They are very friendly and funny cats, very complementary. Morro is very playful and talkative. Mija is more shy but sweet and graceful. Andres was a perfect host, very welcoming, giving clear instructions and always responsive. The house was very clean and well located to access the city center, the lake and the train station. Very nice pet-sitting!
