I am so grateful to Katherine for giving me a truly worry-free vacation. I was delighted to see photographic evidence of my usually standoffish cat warming to Katherine and feeling relaxed and happy. I hope Katherine does not become bored with my house or surroundings, because I’ll definitely be asking her back.
Rosy took good care of my two cats Milo and Edwina for five days while I was away. It was a very pleasant experince. Communication was easy going and reliable and I have met Rosy as a calm and absolutely trustworthy person. When I came home Milo and Edwina were relaxed and in good spirits and the flat was how I left it. Thank you for everything!
Had so much fun taking care of Lexi and Sophie for a week! Lynn was so welcoming and accommodating! Her house is comfortable, beautiful, and located in such a special spot. We loved exploring the nearby Arboretum and exploring all Portland has to offer. Can’t wait for the next time we get to stay with sweet Lexi and Sophie! Can’t say enough about how fantastic this stay was! Thank you, Lynn!
Kat's home is on the edge of the Powderham Castle Estate so the deer park is immediately behind it and you can see deer from the upstairs bedroom window. It's a 3-4 minute walk to the river and there's a great walk along the riverside footpath towards Exeter and a quiet road walk to the nearby village of Starcross. The dogs are very friendly and are pretty chilled at home. Amber is very 'cool' and just observes the world going by and loves a cuddle. Lula enjoys playing with a ball in the garden. Lula is a very strong German Shepherd and doesn't like other dogs. She is very aggressive towards them. She does require somebody with strength to hold her. The house is the 'old gamekeepers cottage' and is full of character. It's adjacent to a work & store area that the gamekeepers use including some dogs that are there kennelled overnight. The house is in a small hamlet with a few houses and one of Kat's friends and neighbour was available for any help. The castle has been in the same family for 7 or 8 centuries and various events take place in the grounds. There's also a farm shop and cafe within the Estate. There's a ferry from Starcross to Exmouth on the other side of the estuary. Dawlish, on the coast and Exeter city are short drives. There's a Sainsbury's in Dawlish and lot's of supermarkets scattered around Exeter. There are some really beautiful towns and villages within easy driving. There are buses and trains within easy access too. There's even steam train passes by every few days. I really enjoyed this sit. I was doing research and a lot of writing and I found it the perfect place to do this. The 6 weeks literally flew by. Kat was very welcoming and helpful through WhatApp while she was away. I'd definitely recommend this sit and I'd happily do it again.
I had a great stay at Maria's with Yohali! Everything was perfect :) Thank you so much again :)
I very much enjoyed my stay in this beautiful house with its stunning view into the forest. Iris and Karel are so kind and caring in their way of handing over their home and loved animals. It will make you feel welcome and at ease immediately. From the welcome letter with little offers of food and wine, to the chocolates you will find next to your bed, it all shows how generous and willing Iris and Karel are to make you feel at home in their home. I loved the surroundings, you can go on long nature walks. I recommend to bring good shoes to walk through the forest, but you can also walk along the street. Mioko the German Sheppard Lady; what can I say, I managed to steal her heart after all, or was it the other way around? ;-) Let say, we got to like each other very much. A very calm demeanor will bring the best results in her trusting you. I didn't touch her very much in the beginning. I was just waiting until she would come to me. Which she did already on the second day by putting her head on my leg to get some loving scratching on her chest, her favored scratch spot. Iris will have a long list of explaining everything in detail. It is written from her experience as a owner and I can only recommend following the advice. It made it really easy to just follow the schedule during the day. And in terms of Mioko, it was good to know to avoid certain movements I was might used to do with other dogs, but Mioko doesn't like very much. Sir Oliver the cat is very easy and happy with getting brushed, cuddles and food. And yes he likes to sing... And charming Mr. Doolittle was already nearly a sleep in hibernation. Easy. I can only call myself lucky to have sat at this house with all its charm and loving occupants. With gratitude to Iris and Karel for having me.
Our experience sitting for Bob & Robbie was wonderful! Their home is peaceful, spacious, and bright with spectacular mountain views in every direction- the photos don’t do it justice! They were warm and friendly and had me for dinner before they took off the next day (my husband joined me after they left as he had a prior commitment). Luna is a sweet old cat who sometimes meows a lot, but it never got obnoxious or kept us up for more than a couple minutes in the night. We really fell in love with her over the 10 days. We did not sit for ZeeBee (the dog) but hope to in the future as she also seemed like a real sweetie. We would definitely recommend this sit!
Kathy was sooo nice and it started the moment she picked me up at the airport. I felt very comfortable in her home and I was sooo lucky to have such a wonderful experience for my first sit. I had the BEST time and I met lots of women in her neighborhood and they were so good to me. I was invited out for lunch with them and to the movies, etc. I also joined them for walks with Kathy"s wonderful dog, Watson who is such a good dog. I absolutely loved Watson and he was sooo well behaved. I will never forget him and the best times we shared together. I would be delighted to take care of Watson again and it was a pleasure to meet Kathy and Watson. I would recommend this sit to anyone, but I want it first!! Ha! Thank you for trusting me with Watson .
