Gracie and Cleo are perfect—juuuuuust purrfect.

Given my time during the (prolonged) height of winter, I found myself nesting mostly indoors with these two for company. Granted, on semi-sunny days that provided some respite from the dreary gloom, the girls were happier to have outdoor playtime. Otherwise, I could feel their boredom growing while I worked. Poor loves... And when springtime finally seemed to hit, they were full-time outdoor cats, taking hours to return for hopeful snacks and full meals.

I 100% recommend this sit! This is an EXCELLENT gig for someone who has remote work and likes paws and tails for company. Thankfully, towards the very end, Hilary and Henry were so kind and hospitable and allowed me a few more days to transition back to NYC. With their encouragement, it was then that I really got the chance to see Ottawa—a thoroughly vibrant, deeply multicultural city center with a tight-knit community vibe soaked in friendly cheer.

Only once did I encounter a rather unpleasant local whose desire for segregation clearly went unmet. Sadly, I gently warn fellow dark-skinned travelers that, even with an American passport, entry into Canada was not easy; all the additional "necessary" documents (not listed on the official Canadian government's website—only a US passport is required) that I was forced to provide at the border further highlight that our beautifully, colorfully knitted social fabric lies in threat to those prejudiced, xenophobic racemongers in positions of power.

Aside from that, the time was well spent, especially when the hosts returned. It was great to meet them. Lovely to hear from them, and I hope for future trips to be thought of for their kitties. Looking forward to the next time 'round!

Helen
We very much enjoyed looking after Ari. She is the sweetest cat! She kept us warm with cuddles in Winter time and we already miss her. Helen has a cozy apartment in a great location if you want to explore Amsterdam. Recommended and many thanks to Helen!

Dogs Magnus & Einstein were wonderful as were their owners, home and small pool. They live near Tulane University in a safe, friendly, integrated neighborhood. There's a grocery store and lots of restaurants nearby. We adored New Orleans.
One note: Magnus is a cuddly sweetheart but part Akita, strong and can be very protective of his home. You'd best be comfortable with handling a dog like this to do this sit.

Michael & Caitlin
Michael and Caitlin's home was cozy and comfortable. The dogs were a delight and so easy to care for, well-trained, easy-going, and great personalities. They loved snuggling on the couch and in the bed. Luckily all the beds in the house are king size, so lots of room for 2 loving dogs and the cats that sometimes also wanted to be included. The house is nestled in the trees with great privacy and quiet. Walking along the roads in their neighborhood provided some beautiful views of the Smoky Mountains. The hot tub was warm and conveniently located on the deck. Caitlin responded quickly and kindly to any questions. The neighbors were welcoming. This is a great location if you want to explore the Blue Ridge Parkway and the Smoky Mountain National Park. It is faster to get to some trails than it is to get to the grocery store!! This is a sweet and enjoyable sit.

Eddie & Rebecca
Eddie and Bex are such kind, welcoming people! They were extremely communicative and ensured I understood all of Devi and Munch’s needs before they left on vacation. Devi and Munch are both so sweet! Munch spent the majority of his time in the hammock in the basement, but was not shy and would come up to say hello every so often. Devi is a ball of fun loving energy with exceptional obedience skills - it’s clear that Eddie and Bex adore and take great care of their fur children! It was such a pleasure to be trusted with Devi and Munch and I am certainly going to miss them!

Janine and Andrew were very hospitable, and went out of their way to ensure that everything about the sit was smooth and straightforward. I loved spending time with Milo and the chickens who were all very sweet natured and charming company!
