All we can say is Wow!! Elly was a blessing! We can't believe how great she was. She took great care of our pups and our house, and even hung out with our baby for a few minutes before we left the house. We are incredibly grateful for her stay at our house and wouldn't hesitate to have her back.
We were happy to invite Meredith to look after Wally and Ruby. The sit was an opportunity to see if being a lone sitter in our village location without transport would work for us all. We picked Meredith up to visit our home and meet the dogs on several occasions. Meredith took manual gear driving lessons with us and an instructor so that the use of our second vehicle that we had insured for her could be used if it was necessary. Our pet guidance states that the dogs cannot be left alone and the guidance we gave on our dog care highlighted how they positively behaved with food, high value treats, toys and that they are not to be let off the lead in the garden. In contrast to previous sits, being a lone sitter was not an ideal arrangement. Despite considerable WhatsApp support to repeat previous guidance during our time away and not being able to leave the property, the sit proved too much for her, despite the opportunity to leave the dogs with trusted neighbours if she needed help. Meredith found the needs of the cockapoo too much, but always stayed in touch, was respectful towards us and our home, and prepared a thoughtful homecoming. The learning from this sit has been helpful for both parties as to what are ideal sit arrangements. For us that will be a couple, who have transport and understand that the young cockapoo can currently not be left alone for more than hour. He can accompany the sitter on trips or can stay with a trusted neighbour to allow time away if needed. The guidance on the dogs staying on the lead in the garden and the provision of treats needs to be followed. We wish Meredith well, we know it was not ideal for her, we thank her for her kindness and the time she spent with our pets and wish her well for future sittings.
