Angie and Bill were our first-ever pet/house sitters, and we hope all our future experiences are as good as this one was. They were truly wonderful, and we can’t say enough good things about them. But we’ll try… Our cats, Phoebe and Dora, received great care and lots of love, and they've been asking when Bill and Angie are coming back. There were no problems administering their daily meds. Communication throughout our 15-day trip was spot-on, with reports on how the cats were doing and pics of happy cats every couple days (which was exactly what we requested). Bill and Angie readily understood how to manage the house, and we returned to a spotless home, bed linens already changed, dishwasher empty, towels washed, fridge cleaned out, etc. Bill even tried to keep up with the barrage of pine cones that drop at this time of year--the pine cones narrowly won, but it was nevertheless a valiant attempt. On top of all that, Angie and Bill are some of the most pleasant and enthusiastic folks we’ve met. We hope they enjoyed their stay here, and we’d welcome them back to sit or just visit any time. Others would be lucky to have them as sitters.
Do not, under any circumstances, accept Glenn as your sitter. He left my apartment a total mess, complete with food and bathroom trash strewn about the place. He ripped my antique lace curtains, left an enormous coffee stain on my white kitchen curtains, left pubic hairs all over the bathtub, as well as a mysterious rust stain on the white tub, shit stains in the toilet, dirty wet towels all over the bathroom, bathroom trash strewn about the floor... I could go on. He also moved many of my items around to "make room for himself" but neglected to put anything back where it was. Also, in moving my things, he was extremely careless -- picture frames are broken, hat rims are bent, and precious artwork was knocked askew and even knocked off the walls. He left a bunch of his food in the fridge, including gross-looking leftovers, a dirty stove, and also forgot one of his own cartons of clothing here. But wait -- there's more: he left the heat on, despite explicit instructions to turn it off before he left, and overall I have received a utility bill that is literally twice what I typically pay for 1 month. To top it all off, my cat's two water bowls were bone dry when I got home. I was up until 3am cleaning and putting everything back together, though of course the broken and stained items are beyond repair -- not exactly how I want to come home after a month-long work trip. Frankly he should be kicked off this site altogether. If I could leave 0 stars, I would.
Everyone needs Brian in their life. Brian took the best care of Callie the cat and she can be a challenge in her twilight years! He loved her like she was his own. As well, Brian did the best tidy up ever, cleaning the bedding and towels before leaving and welcoming us home. He sent regular pictures and assured me that all was well while we were away enjoying a holiday with 'peace of mind' all thanks to Brian. You're a star Brian!!
Nan's one-bedroom apartment is located at the southern edge of the unfortunately named 'gourmet ghetto' in Berkeley, very close to excellent restaurants, transportation, exactly as listed. Gracie, her chihuahua bonded with me immediately as she was a pure joy to care for the whole month. Kat had some issues but I was mostly able to resolve them with Nan due to good long-distance communication. Plus I was able to send regular photographs especially of Gracie who is very photogenic. This was a great stay for me, as a 'digital nomad' working remotely on my projects.
