Cristina is a smart, fun loving lady has a lovely home with everything conveniently at hand. She explained everything required of me before leaving for the mini-break. The three furry friends were lively and friendly. The house is fairly close to Sintra/Cascais/Estoril which makes for interesting visits.
Sitting with Sue's sweet kitties was a delight! Frieda, a beautiful long-hair calico, is just a perfect princess and stays indoors. She loves to be gently combed and pet and would occasionally sit next to me for some extra love. The two indoor/outdoor kitties are quite a duo and seem to stick together much of the time. Handsome Mr. Gray was fairly hesitant around me throughout my stay. He would come in for food a few times each day. When I called him in for the night, he would nearly always come but sometimes refused to come in. Last but definitely not least, Kitty Garbo is a cutie pie! She warmed up to me fairly quickly and was more willing to come indoors at night. She allowed me to pet her here and there and even brought a gift one day. Canned food was the best way to get them inside, so they were a bit spoiled during my stay. Sue's home is an amazing place situated on a bend in the Shenandoah in a cute little community. Some neighbors have chickens, so roosters can be heard periodically. The really magical thing about this place is simply nature; the river and woods and all the wildlife are really fantastic! A few times each day I saw deer right in the yard, grazing or drinking from the fish pond or just passing through. There was a cute little raccoon nearby, a groundhog, and the birds and squirrels are literally nuts! Feeding them was a thrill, a few times squirrels took peanuts in the shell right from my hand! The bird feeders need refilling often but the reward is well worth it! All day long, various woodpeckers, cardinals, chickadees, nuthatches, bluejays, and others can be seen from the decks or from inside through the amazing windows facing the river. We even saw an indigo bunting pecking at seeds which had fallen to the ground below. The river is incredible, and there is a path mown along its banks which leads to an open field and a little beach area. The scenery and serenity of this place is truly remarkable. It's a terrific sit for rest and relaxation but also allows one to focus on work when needed and to go on various nearby adventures. Sue is very detailed in explaining how to care for her home and her kitties. She is communicative, easy to reach, and a considerate host as well as a warm, interesting person with a special connection to animals. She keeps her home clean and has pretty much everything available that one might need during their stay. I truly enjoyed my stay and would definitely sit again!
Betty is a truly adorable cat. She's a rescue cat and has experienced some unfavourable treatment in a past life so it helps to be calm around her. But she loves being near you and occasionally sitting on your lap. She just wants to be loved. I will miss her a lot. Chris was great. He did a last minute check before he left to make sure there was enough supplies for Betty. He informed me of Betty's likes and dislikes. The spare bed was really comfortable and warm and I had great sleeps (with Betty). The location is fantastic - really close to shops, trains and buses. I was initially concerned about parking for my car but realised it wasn't a problem at all. In each of the streets around Chris' house, there's both 2-hour parking and unlimited parking. You just need to park in the correct part of the street. I would definitely sit for Betty again. Oh, and the neighbours were really nice too.
Nick and Andrea were fabulous hosts. They provided lots of local information and Dubi was an absolute delight to look after.
Ryan and Jen were very communicative and welcoming, and the apartment was very clean and comfortable, perfect for working from home. Zoe was such a lovely sweet girl. She snoozed most of the time I was there, and she would come sit on my lap for cuddles and to make biscuits once in a while. Very easy to take care of and really cute! I would definitely sit her again :)
A lovely house in a quiet village with two goegeous cats. Monty and Elvis were easy to look after and stole my heart! Communication was great and I really felt welcome.
