I had a fabulous time looking after Gracie greyhound and the adorable Buddy, who wins the prize as the best ears ever on a greyhound. I'm really grateful Susie chose me as I got to be the greys surrogate mum for a week. I also got lots of pussy-cat purrs from the cat clan.

The communication with Susie was great: we did a zoom call before the sit and she introduced me to her beloved greys on the call (they may not remember). Susie and Gary were welcoming and we had a good ol' natter the first night and they fed me, too! Susie picked me up from Galashiels, which helped me out. Their house is modern and large - my room was set up like I was staying at a nice AirBnB.

I didn't have a car during the sit but Lauder is well connected with Edinburgh and I caught a bus on to Edinburgh at the end of my sit. Lauder is a lovely wee town, two great cafes, bakers, butchers, fruit shop and two supermarkets. There are also lovely walks around it and the greys and I went out along the river and up along some of the Southern Upland way which goes through Lauder. I didn't miss having a car, but you might want one if you want to visit other nearby towns.

Buddy and Gracie were typical low maintenance greys, they slept most of the day and ignored their food until they felt like eating it. Both of them love company and dutifully followed me to whichever room I was in. The cats were great - all four would line up when I got up in the morning and wait for their wet food. The two gingers were chattier and wanted pats more than the black and white cats.

All in all a great sit and I recommend the house, the animals and the hosts.
Thanks Susie!

Ben was a great host and has a lovely home. Tuko was adorable and very well behaved. FaceTimed Ben before the sit so I had all the information needed. I would happily do another sit for Ben and Tuko in the future ☺️

Helen
Hazel is a joy to be around - she is energetic and loves her walks. She is easy to walk off the lead and has great recall. She has a lovely nature and will sit with you and rest. Oh and she is so attractive- you will get into conversation with other dog walkers!

Helen is so nice, was great to work with, communication was easy and straightforward. She has a gorgeous house in a great location. Easy reach of nature, for Hazel’s walks, and close to Guildford town centre. Perfect.

The house has everything you need and is comfortable. There is a table and chairs outside for relaxing in the sunshine and the garden has some lovely plants and flowers.

We loved this sit, highly recommend.

Taking care of Claudia was a joy. She's a lovely and sweet cat, easygoing and affectionate. Helen's communication was smooth and hassle-free. She provided clear instructions and was always there to answer me if I had any questions. The apartment's location is super convenient, with a tram stop right outside for easy travel and for any sight-seeing. Overall, it was a positive experience and I would go back whenever possible. If you get the opportunity to meet Claudia, do not hesitate. Thank you very much again Helen!

Champayne
My kids aged 15 and 11 and I spent 3 nights pet sitting for Champayne and her lovely pets. The house was lovely and homely, and even though we were given a bed each to sleep in we only ended up using two as my son wanted to sleep in mine so we were all in the same room. The house was warm, with great wifi so I could work on my laptop when needed, plus we even got to see the match on the big TV which my son loved.

The dogs, Al, Bess and Holly were friendly and my kids were very comfortable with them. If we couldn't walk them down the lane we took them into the field, the nearby graveyard/paddock for a run or also loved playing football/fetch with them. We never left them unattended without a lead to make sure they were safe. The ducks and chickens thankfully all stayed safe while we were there seeing as there had been recent fox attacks and though we hardly saw the cats they were also friendly and relaxed.

Responsibilities were mainly focused on mornings and evenings with the animals but we enjoyed just being part of the vibe so hanging out during the day in the chicken field and watching them or playing with the dogs was nice as opposed to a chore.
We did explore the surrounding area a little each full day, but we were never gone for more than 4 hours at a time. Navan shopping centre, the hill of Tara, and Laytown beach were our little adventures, even though we never got to walk on the bog but we'll have to keep that for next time.

We would definitely love to sit at Champaynes home again. Champaynes mum was there to greet us when we arrived and say goodbye when we left and she's a lovely interesting lady.
All in all we had a great time, thank you!

We LOVED this house-sit! Gemma and Simon were very welcoming and we felt instantly at home. The labradors, Inca and Roger, are adorable: fun, very loving and well behaved. We stayed in The Aviary, a converted barn and a beautifully bright space. The village of Wanborough has many great walks. There are numerous public footpaths leading to woods and meadows for exploring. The village currently has four pubs, all very welcoming to dogs and all serving great pub food — especially the nearest one, The New Calley Arms. We would highly recommend this sit and hope we can return soon.
