Buffy and Rocky were absolutely lovely to look after - Buffy is so gentle and the best cuddler. Rocky is a beautiful cat who loves food and sleeping - modelling ‘self care’ to the max !

Jayne was always on hand to answer our questions and was flexible around our arrival / leaving time which helped hugely. Thank you Jayne !

This house sit will always stand out in our long line of house sits as it coincided with the pandemic lockdown. But let us start with the location. John and Hazels house is one of around ten in a tiny hamlet up on a ridge, surrounded by vineyards and pear orchards. You can walk with the two dogs, Biscuit and Noodle for miles on dirt tracks through these vineyards in very scenic surroundings. There are coffee bars and bakeries within a mile or so but these soon closed for us due to covid-19 but will be open for you. Supermarkets are in Caldas da Rainha about a 20 min drive, well stocked even during the food and TP crisis in UK. The dogs are a delight, very affectionate, well behaved and will soon be a fixture on your lap. We got to know our hosts, John and Hazel, much better than we would normal hosts as we spent three weeks with them after they were able to return from UK in lockdown but we were stuck with our motorhome in Portugal and no ferries running from Spain. Anyway, they showed themselves to be gracious and generous hosts long after normal hosts have waved goodbye to their house sitters and resumed their normal lives. Bravo John and Hazel! We recommend this sit!
