We thoroughly enjoyed getting to know Dave and Ruth during dinner the night before our trip. They were great company; intelligent, lively, self reliant, and genuinely interested in our home and pets. We have 5 pets, each with it's own distinct personality, and they immediately seemed to know how to approach each one to make them comfortable. Our old cat, Pinot, is easy to win over and found 2 new laps in no time. The young cat brothers were very shy at first, but Dave and Ruth were gentle and patient and won them over as well. And they seemed to enjoy interacting with Max the parrot and handled her without any qualms. They even discovered that Lizzy the dog enjoyed fetching a tennis ball. They kept us informed of how everyone was doing, as well as their discoveries as they explored our island home. The weather wasn't ideal for beach sitting, as it was rather windy, but they made the best of things and seemed to enjoy being here. They seem very capable of handling any situations that might have arisen, which is a wonderful trait in people that are new to your home and animals. The house was tidy when we returned. They had even emptied the littler bin, washed the dishes, emptied the trash and taken care of the laundry. What a treat for us to return home to. We look forward to their return visit in August.
