We had a simply incredible seven weeks at Sue and Steve's home near Rochechouart, looking after the delightful Rita. Sue and Steve made everything easy, with plenty of communication before and during our stay, and a very comprehensive set of notes, as well as a very welcome lunch and orientation the day before we began the sit. They even left the contact details of some people in case we needed anything, one of whom we met and became friendly with. They are a really nice and interesting couple, and had some terrific recommendations of places for us to visit. Rita is a sweetheart. She has her own routine, comes and goes as she pleases and loves to receive strokes and scratches whilst on her favourite "throne". She would occasionally join us for Netflix sessions in the snug lounge, and sometimes we would see her as we walked through the hamlet where the house sits. The house is amazing. Very comfortable, with a lovely log burning stove, well equipped kitchen and plenty of space. The garden is enormous and we had fun relaxing and playing in it. There are walks to be had straight from the front door, and we had fun creating new routes made up of the numerous paths, farm tracks and roads that criss-cross the area. Sue left us a stack of maps and guides which was very helpful. Rochechourat (about 4km away) has a couple of supermarkets, so you are never far from restocking whatever is needed, with Saint-Junien about 15 minutes further which has everything you would need, including a bustling Saturday market. We feel very blessed to have had our time at Sue and Steve's home, have made wonderful memories, and would highly recommend this sit if you get the chance.
Diane and Julian were very hospitable. They offered a meal together before they headed out in the morning. They left a very detailed notebook with instructions, directions, and contacts in case of emergency. The week went very smoothly, the dogs were very friendly and loved to play. The house is located a short drive from the downtown area.
I really enjoyed looking after Bailey and Islay. They have very different but complementary personalities and are fun to be with. Both cats love to play and have a range of toys they adore. Bailey is more of a snuggler than Islay who is quite shy and takes a little more time to warm up to you. Both are beautiful and enjoy chilling out and snoozing when they aren’t playing. Mealtimes can be quite lively and are a definite highlight. They love their food and will remind you about the correct time so you don’t forget. Gina and Mike’s flat is very centrally located and welcoming with everything I needed for a great stay. It’s close to Waverley train station and the main coach/bus station and very near shops, bars and restaurants. Communication before and during the sit was excellent. Both the written notes and the run through I had with Mike before the sit were helpful and both cats were very easy company. I’ll miss them. Thanks Gina and Mike.
What an absolute pleasure it was to watch over this beautiful home!! Excellent location close to the beach, tennis courts and restaurants! Joy made it feel like we were staying in an air bnb, everything was so clean and laid out perfectly for us. We got to meet Joy and Johnny before hand and I was sad for them to leave. They were so friendly and fun felt like I had gained a friend in 2 hours. The boys Gozo and Haggis are giving main character energy! They light up any room they walk into with their gorgeous jackets and cute little faces. Gozo was our best friend within the first day, followed us everywhere. He will keep you entertained and laughing all day with his poses and willingness to jump in just about anything! Haggis took a few days to come around but loved being talked too and scratched under his chin. We enjoyed the mornings outside with him under his favorite tree and walks in the front yard. They are SO WELL behaved, they let us clean their eyes, clip their nails didn't even fuss!! We will miss the boys dearly and think about them often. You will be blessed if you get to sit these handsome boys!
