It was a pleasure to care for Willow and Pudding. We thoroughly enjoyed it. We met with Liz and Roger for a handover and communication was good throughout. The house is lovely and comfortable set in beautiful gardens within a very welcoming village. The guest room, with ensuite, has the most comfortable bed!! We spent our evenings on the sofa with the cosy log fire receiving plenty of affection from both Pudding and Willow. Both are such lovely characters. We had to keep Willow on her lead during walks and she was very well behaved, off lead she loves sprinting around the garden especially with a ball. We would love to return if our dates coincide in the future.
Gotta love housesitting, in great part because you get to meet lovely folks like Brad and Lynn, explore areas like Houston's East End, and hang out with sweethearts like Bella (Arabella, officially). I'll note some specifics below, but the short version is that I enjoyed this sit immensely and will absolutely visit again if the stars and calendars align. Arabella herself: What a gal! Big, strong, gorgeous, protective, and well trained. It's screamingly obvious that Bella and her people (Brad and Lynn) make a great team, everyone adoring everyone else. Bella was one of the largest dogs I've sat for, but there were no issues in that regard. She walks great on the leash and responds very well to commands. Okay, let's be real... I'm not used to big dogs so I didn't "command" anything. I simply requested that Bella sit (or stay or whatever), and she responded every single time. She's beautiful AND smart! Her voice can be loud because there's lots of room in that big muscular body for her bark to reverberate before it explodes into the world. It wasn't an issue for me 'tall, but might be for someone who startles easily at unexpected or loud noises. No worries, though... she's just making sure you know that the mailman has arrived. :-) The home and surrounds: Lynn and Brad have updated their home beautifully with lovely art and fabrics, unique fixtures and décor, and a comfy open layout. Just east of downtown Houston, the surrounding area ranges from updated classic to boho trendy to graffiti warehouse to brand-spankin' new three-story construction. It's an up-and-coming revitalizing area that is fun to explore, with lots to see and do and eat. Brad and Lynn's house is in one of the "updated classic" nooks, and I felt very safe walking around (I always try to mention safety factors for the benefit of fellow solo female sitters). If you're looking for suburban uniformity in a housesit, look elsewhere. Otherwise, come ready to explore! Brad and Lynn: I can't say enough about how great these two are as hosts! They embody all the aspects of great hosts: accessible, friendly, flexible, communicative, generous, and just plain NICE. They clearly love their Bella and their home, and it shows. These are folks you want to housesit for, and then hang out with later. Brad and Lynn, thanks bunches for a most enjoyable stay with your girl, Bella. Loved it! Future potential Bella-sitters, if you're good with the occasional loud bark and ready for some urban exploration, raise your hand high for this sit. It's a good one, so I'll be raising my hand again, too. :-)
Perfect sit in lovely Ely. I fell in love with Kitty and could have easily taken her home with me; such a gorgeous, good-natured and affectionate cat with the most beautifully soft fur (honestly think she is part rabbit!😄) Becky was great with her communication and seemed lovely (we didn’t actually meet) I’d recommend this sit to anyone wanting to visit the Cambridge area.
