Fern and Bud are very different in character but despite their differences (and being siblings!) they actually get on very well and were a pleasure to look after.
I think I was lucky with Fern as she seemed to take a liking to me from the first day - happily playing with her favourite toys and following me everywhere. She has a sweet nature and I enjoyed having her around in the office when I was writing. She initially spent more time indoors but, by the end of the sit, she was ahead of Bud in the morning rush to get out into the garden.
Her brother took a little longer to warm up to me, however, after a day or so he relaxed and became very affectionate - adoring getting brushed and cuddling up whenever I was sitting reading or watching tv. Bud also loved being outdoors and exploring in the garden and beyond - plus he would regularly test my nerves by some high-flying tree acrobatics.
Both cats are very well-behaved - no temper tantrums or sudden scratching. Bud would go in a huff if he couldn’t get out due to pouring rain - but if you played with him or got out the brush he soon forgot about the closed door. Fern would lie on top of the keyboard or try and distract me if she felt like I was typing for too long. So cute - and a good reminder to take regular breaks!
John and Martina were great hosts - clear, organised and friendly - which made me feel more confident about looking after their beautiful home. We spent time together beforehand and they patiently explained routines, showed how things worked etc. Thoughtful detail: they left a nice bottle of red and a card - both of which were really appreciated.
The house is light, well-designed and has an amazing kitchen. Everything has been considered and organised for modern living with lots of lovely personal touches. The wildflower garden makes for a soothing view as well as a perfect playground for the kitties.
Neighbourhood is quiet with nature walks and a high street of interesting shops and cafes nearby. Bus service is good and there is a metro station within walking distance.
Recommended sit for lots of different reasons but I’d probably say that having two such delightful companions was the top one.
