Sandra and Paul are a lovely couple. Caspar is so easy to look after, he's very obedient and obviously well trained. Truffles and Boost are such affectionate cats and love to be cuddled, Boost especially. We had a great few days exploring Exmouth and the surrounding area. There is plenty to do and see. It was a really enjoyable house sit.
Lulu is a shy but very lovely little Dachshund. She was doing great with us, we really enjoyed taking her for walks. Janette and Peter were very kind and they made us feel welcome. Fremantle is a lovely town, so many things to do. Recommended to all out there!
This was my first sit with THS and my first visit to SE Ireland. And I spent it thinking all my Christmases had come at once. Firstly, William and Rojer were superbly welcoming and helpful. I arrived a day early and it’s a huge asset that they have a self-contained annex where I could stay without feeling I was getting under their feet as they prepared to go away. What I did not expect was to be invited to a real treat of a meal on the evening of my arrival. What could be more welcoming? (I still want that recipe, guys!) Nor, when I applied for the sit, did I expect to be collected from Waterford (the bus from Dublin airport is super-reliable and easy) or so heroically driven to Rosslare at the crack of dawn for the ferry away. Both kindnesses were much appreciated. William and Rojer showed me, with great patience, everything I needed to do and also all the household stuff. They reminded me that they would only ever be a phone call away, if I had any questions. And sure enough, my queries were met with quick and constructive responses. They were also very reassuring when I made mistakes, which was important because looking after someone’s animals and home are big responsibilities. The animals..Oh boy! The four cats are different: You have Milo, the alpha (when he can be bothered), to whom everything is edible until proven otherwise, without a mean bone in his substantial body ; Cosmo the Spaceman with the emerald eyes; Pretty Polly who is either Not There (literally) or on your lap, purring to rattle the crockery - and Liffey, who can generally be found snoozing in a vegetable basket, when not pouncing on pesky leaves. The birds are wonderfully entertaining. Give them a scoop of food just before bedtime and settle down for a good old giggle as they squabble over the best morsels – the indignant “B’durk!” of a bantam being dragged from prime spot by a duck is priceless. Having barn owls to look after as well is a bonus. They’re very low-maintenance, but I learned a lot about them. As for the plot.. The photos don’t do the house or garden justice. Rojer and William have created their home from the shell of an old farmhouse and no detail has been missed in terms of comfort or aesthetics. It was jaw-dropping, for example, to watch the light bounce off the house and set the maple sapling in the courtyard on fire, towards the end of the afternoon. We went through a very cold patch during the sit, when the temperature outside didn’t rise above freezing for a few days. It was great to come back into the always-warm house after seeing to the birds. There’s a range of supermarkets and everything else you might need about fifteen minutes’ drive away in the town of New Ross, including a vet – which, luckily, I didn’t have to call on. Despite that, the spot is incredibly peaceful, with views over open fields. When not looking after the animals, I got a lot of work done, with no distractions (apart from trying to stop Milo eating the furniture). My partner joined me part-way through the sit and we were able to visit lots of nearby sights: Kilkenny, Hook Head and Dunbrody Abbey were highlights. We’re keen bird-watchers and there was much to interest us there, too. Wexford Wildfowl Reserve is impressive. The use of their car was another huge generosity by Rojer and William. Can’t recommend this sit highly enough. Although you’ll have to fight me for it.
A wonderful housesit in London with sweet lovable Gus the dog and his cat friends Twinks and Lionel plus a whole parade of chickie ladies strutting around the yard! The owners Chloe and Gareth were incredibly welcoming and the animal care was actually straightforward as they are all very well behaved and the house organization keeps it simple. The location is perfect for exploring all of London but the neighborhood has everything needed within a short walk. Great experience!
My stay was great. The girls Carrie and Molly were full of life. The walks with Molly were not easy as she didnt want to walk, but she did remember she had legs on the 4th one. The rest was very easy, just a few pees on the floor. I slept very well as there is no noise in the street. Sioned was very nice with me, made me dinner and explained everything to make me feel home. Thank you ! Cardiff is very nice in Fall, the walks were my favorite time of the day in this beautiful season.
We had a lovely time in Helensburgh! The three days passed in no time at all! Sarah and Adam were incredibly welcoming and very helpful and made us feel right at home. The three dogs were very cuddly but lots of fun on walks. They loved just spending time near us and were a joy to take care of! And the surrounding area was everything we hoped for when visiting Scotland! We are very thankful for this opportunity and would definitely and wholeheartedly recommend this housesit!
