Debs was a fantastic house and kitty sitter! Coordinating with her was really easy and she took great care of the kitties. She was thoughtful and considerate; we came back to a spotless home. Would love for Debs to host again and highly recommend!
Corey lived so gently in our home that we felt it had just been professionally cleaned upon our return after a 3 week vacation! There were absolutely no issues--our cat and plants were happy and healthy, and every part of the house was well cared for. We are happy that we've already been able to schedule him for another stint next month.
Unfortunately , this is the first bad review I’ve had to write out of thirteen sits and I hate having to do it but I feel I need to forewarn anyone considering Mary for a sit. For the record, I have a dual membership and have been a zeewoi for thirteen different households all with five star reviews given to me by pet owners and given to me house/pet sitters. In addition, please know I have one ring camera at the top of my outdoor staircase leading to my front door. As stated in my list of responsibilities on Trusted and when we interviewed one another, Mary agreed to feed the cats at 7 AM and 5 PM give or take an hour. Gato gets fed half his food at each feeding and then fifteen to 45 minutes later, the other half. Both cats need to be SEPARATED when being fed as Gato is overweight and will eat Milo’s food. I asked for photos of their morning feedings. The following is my experience working with Mary: Short story-1) Mary left for a long period of time and spent an overnight in LA, left extra food (according to her) thereby letting Gato graze on Milo’s food which she was NOT supposed to do. This was not at all the agreement we had. She got home at 10:30 or so the next morning. 2) Mary brought poisonous plants into my house when I texted and specifically asked her to bring them into the garage sink. 3) Mary did not send evening photos on the last night of the stay thereby reiterating to me that she cannot follow instructions (especially after being in trouble for leaving for a night when I needed that extra knowing in my heart that she was actually feeding my cats). As well, Mary locked herself out the first night. If you care to read the details, they are below and accurate with times and through the use of my ring my outdoor camera. 1. On the morning of 8/8 Mary texted me that she was going to “West Hollywood.” I thought that was long way to go and get back to my place by 5 or 6 PM but it’s none of my business. I texted her at 10:40 that night as I noticed there had been no movement since the morning on my ring camera and realized Mary had not come home yet. This was 5.5 hours after they are to be fed. She did not respond to my text until 6:25 AM Friday morning. She wrote, “morning! my happy hour with a friend in LA turned into a later night than I had planned! im so sorry. im stirring to head that way now.” In the meantime, I reached out to zeewoi because I was in a state of shock and wasn’t sure how to proceed. I think it’s assumed the sitter will be spending the nights in one’s home unless it is otherwise discussed in advance and mutually agreed to that they may not. After several texts, I spoke with Mary on the phone at around 10:25 AM, she said she had returned her rental car and was being driven back to my place. She also stated that she left them extra food (which she was not supposed to do). I don’t know if she locked one cat in the bedroom and the other in the living area or if she let both of them free so Gato could eat all of Milo’s food. I asked her to call me when she got in the house because I wanted to talk to her again. Instead she texted me two photos of the cats being fed so I video called her because at this point I needed to have a face to face conversation and because I was scared of what the condition of my house and cats might be in. Thankfully, all looked well with the exception of her suitcase being on my bed. In my notes I left for her, I ask that no suitcases be put on the bed (I don’t put my own suitcase on my bed or anyone else’s for fear of bed bugs). At this point I expressed my disappointment and explained that I no longer entirely trusted her and for this reason in addition to sending morning photos, she also needs to send evening photos of them being fed. 2. When I originally gave Mary a tour of the house and property I mentioned to her that the two plants sitting on the outdoor table that were given to me for my birthday were poisonous to the cats and I was giving them away. I was never able to complete that task before leaving so I texted Mary and asked her to bring those two plants “to the garage in the sink.” I watched Mary bring the plants up the outdoor staircase (where my ring camera is) in through the front door of my house!!! The plants are poisonous and she did not follow my instruction at all. Essentially she could have poisoned my cats had I not had that camera at the top of the staircase! 3. Because a trust had been broken, I asked her to send additional photos each evening of when they were fed. She did not do that on the final evening but did it the rest of the evenings. Mary seems to have trouble following simplest of direction. As well, I left one key for Mary which I told her went to the dead bolt only. She ended up locking both locks and locked herself out on the first night. I had a spare key hidden but there was this tiny voice inside me that said I should not give it to her. She was able to jimmy her way in with the use of a credit card! I forgive Mary but will never forget, could never recommend her and would never have her in my space again. On the up side, Mary did leave a very clean house and I was very appreciative of that as I left her a very clean house as well. She actually went over and above what I asked her to do which was unnecessary although very appreciated.
We absolutely enjoyed our stay. Pete and Chris have a very beautiful, clean and well equipped home in a great location and neighborhood. We immediately felt comfortable and could have easily stayed longer. The cats have been great company and just so cute 😻 We already miss them. Would recommend this housesit opportunity 100% and we would be happy to come back anytime.
