Leslie gave us frequent updates on our fur babies just as we asked. She was good about keeping the house as we left it. She also stepped in when our previous sitter had to cancel. She said the day!

I arrived at the house in the evening, after the host had left. We had a Zoom call before I accepted the sitting, but I hadn’t been to the apartment before. When I arrived, I saw the apartment was extremely cluttered. There was stuff covering all horizontal and some vertical spaces. Leaving enough floor space to allow walking from room to room.

The bed linens were not changed. The clean linens were left on top of the bed for me to remove the used ones and put on the fresh ones. I texted the host to verify that this was the case, and she replied that yes, “she just couldn’t get motivated to change the sheets.”

There was literally no space available in the bedroom for anything. The floors and any furniture (such as dressers and the closet) were covered with boxes, baskets, dirty laundry, clothes, and personal items. The nightstand was covered with personal items including toiletries, medications, and a travel mug with liquid still in it.

There was nowhere to put any of my stuff. The only space available in the bedroom was a few square feet between the closet and the bed to put my suitcase on. The only seating in the house was one armchair in the living room, and any desk or table were covered with piles of stuff. There was nowhere to eat unless standing up or sitting in the armchair with your plate in your lap. The kitchen counter and stovetop were cluttered and dirty, and the fridge stank and had moldy food in it.

This was supposed to be a one-week sitting, and I don’t think I should have to deal with filth and mess just to be able to perform basic daily life activities such as cooking, eating, and using the bathroom! When I spoke to the host and told her I would have to clean the bathroom before I could even use it (this was before I saw the dirty kitchen), she said, “It’s clean! If it is not up to your standards, leave!”

Because I did not have anywhere to go to that night, I said I would stay. After a bit, I realized it was unreasonable for me to live like that for a week and decided to take her up on her “offer” to leave. I wrote to her that I would stay the night, but she should make other arrangements for the rest of the week. I told her that if she couldn’t find a solution by the next evening, I would stop by to take care of the cats. Her only response was “ok.” The next morning, after taking care of the cats, I left and sent her a message reiterating that if she needed me to, I would stop by in the evening. She said it wouldn’t be necessary.

Gayle launched a dispute against me claiming that I abandoned the sit, which is a lie. I took her up on her suggestion to leave, and I made sure the cats, who are really sweet, by the way, are cared for. Luckily I have plenty of evidence to show that this was the case.

Previous sitters either did not leave a review, or only referenced the cats and the neighborhood, not house, and barely a word about the host, which now I know are huge red flags!

I am posting this review to help other sitters avoid this horrifying experience.

Oscar the three month old kitten was a joy to look after. I was expecting a lot of mess as yoIt u would normally get with a baby cat, but no he was great.

The house was comfortable and had most things we needed. As there was no TV we may good use of our laptops and 'SkyGo'. There were no mirrors to speak of, that we could find anyway, but we were local so popped back and grabbed one from home, so no problem.

It was a bonus to be able to park on the drive and there was plenty of street parking too.

We would be happy to sit for Oscar again in the future.

We spent more than two weeks in Ludwigshafen taking care of Gus, the lovely MaineCoon.

Upon our arrival, Marco was more then welcoming; he explained us everything needed to know. The home is very clean, cozy (overlooking the rhine river) and in a lovely area (Bakery and grocery store are nearby). We felt like at home. They did a great job preparing everything and introducing us to Gus and his needs, so we would feel comfortable taking care of him.
Warren and Marco are really lovely people and we enjoyed our time with Gus so much. He is such a wonderful Maine Coon, we miss him.

Thanks for everything, it was a great pleasure!

This is a one of a kind housesit we’ll never forget! The dome itself is simply beautiful and cozy, with plenty of space to work, relax and enjoy the beautiful nature. Mikel and Evan are two incredibly open and friendly people, making us feel very welcome from the moment we arrived. We had tea together on the sun terrace and they explained everything very well to us, even with a handout, where we could all look it up again. We stayed in very well contact over the whole time!

But the real star of the show is Lidl! This furry little guy is the most cuddly cat I’ve ever seen. He builds up trust very fast and will ask for his daily belly rubs. How could someone say no to that. He will bring you some presents from the outdoors, so be aware of that ;) We loved spending time with him, and we were sad to say goodbye when our time in Portugal came to an end.

Aside from the dome and Lidl, the surrounding area is stunningly beautiful. We loved having our daily morning coffee watching the cormorants by the river or exploring the hiking trails. You do have to love nature and be fine with temperature changes, bugs and spiders and some work to maintain the dome to enjoy this housesit. For us this was just part of this amazing adventure!

Overall, we cannot recommend this housesit enough. Mikel and Evan are fantastic, Lidl is the cutest, and the whole experience was simply unforgettable. Thank you so much for the opportunity to take care of your lovely home. We hope to return again someday!

Wonderful to look after the pets for a second time, they are all a joy to be with, Tauri, Wednesday and Adolfo are all great characters and Nashira is such a gentle, loving and well behaved Mastiff, absolutely no trouble to walk on the beach no matter the weather, a great location with the centre of Malaga just a stroll or a number 40 bus ride away .... great people, great pets, looking forward to sitting again sometime in the future

Jesse and I had a wonderful time meeting Yoshi (when he came out of his hiding places, lol). Yoshi was super easy to care for and communication with Liz was excellent.
The area was great for a walk to downtown Petaluma with plenty of shops and Brewster’s Beer Garden is a beautiful spot for some drinks. We had a wonderful time! Nice meeting you Yoshi!
