We had a lovely 3+ weeks with Miah and Babe....they are very gentle souls who are energetic on their long daily walk, but are very happy to snooze by the fire for most of the rest of the day. They are great in the car, so we were able to take them on lots of field trips to the Abbey, canal, and near by lakes. While neither of them gave us any trouble, they are very strong, so it's important to be on guard, especially in lanes around their house, as they will spot a deer on the horizon and we could easily imagine them slipping our grip had we not been paying attention. They're super easy...one long walk, a couple of shorter ones, and one meal a day, which, after she warmed up to us, even tiny Miah gulped down happily. Ivan and Lesley were so welcoming. Ivan fetched us from the train in Saint Brieuc (an easy 2.5 hours from Paris Montparnasse) and drove Darren around to show him the local boulangerie, local restaurants, grocers, and some of the more interesting walks in other villages. Lesley cooked us not one, but two lovely meals before they departed -- if you have a sweet tooth, she'll be a hard act to follow. It was late fall, so we anticipated the near constant drizzle, but Darren kept the fire constantly going which really keeps even the upper rooms toasty through the radiators. Lesley had made up the entire third floor for us with lovely touches like extra toiletries, copious towels, and enough paper products to survive doomsday. We had a very large room, with separate shower and water closet all adjoining a large attic entry area. Quintin is the closest larger village with bigger grocers, a gorgeous cathedral, and a few really unique shops; but there are also small shops in Corlay and elsewhere -- and we were there for the 30th anniversary of the Street Singers Festival, which was an absolute hoot! It's a very rural sit, so we tend to recommend a couple or very self-sufficient single sitter...but also there are many villages and coastal towns which we frequented when we felt like a field trip. Their home is lovely, large and very comfortable...just keep the kitchen fires burning. Good to spend a bit of time on the front end getting the lay of the land, as they didn't always have wifi on their cruise, but we didn't need them, and had no reason to contact them other than to check in with pictures of their girls staying happy and occupied. We hope we'll be invited for another long visit to Brittany, and wished we'd had more time on the backend to just chill with Babe, Miah, Lesley and Ivan. Wonderful family...we're very grateful for a lovely sit.
Recently had the pleasure of pet-sitting for Tom and Kim, and I can't recommend them enough. They were incredibly attentive and always made sure I had everything I needed to take care of Beau. They were always concerned for my wellbeing and they were always reachable whenever I had questions. Beau although a very independent cat loved attention and receiving love.
Five animals is a lot to watch, and I think this many at once is better suited to a couple. All of the animals in this house are sweet natured and Charles is an olympic jumper for an elderly cat. Lauren has it set up with detailed instructions on how to feed them. It was a bit chaotic at first but then we all got into a rhythm. Lauren and her husband are very nice and have a detailed book for you with instructions which was easy to follow. Their house in Livermore is conveniently located to restaurants and coffee shops.

Janet was such a pleasure to sit for. She communicates very well, is informative with a small list of things to do with the dogs and a long list of neat things to see and do in the area. Her home was organized, spacious, and close to everything! There was ample space to walk and play with the dogs indoors and out. I will say, the two are the sweetest, most well behaved (and quiet) dogs I've ever met. They are full of personality and are VERY well trained. I would definitely recommend sitting for Janet----Janet herself is a gem to chat with! She's interested and interesting:)
We had a great time sitting for Emily in her lovely home in Southwick. Huxley is a big boy with a beautiful temperament, a gentle giant. And Lulu is very sweet and always looking for a cuddle - which we loved. Emily's communication was brilliant and we had everything we needed to make sure the dogs routine was consistent and clear.
