Eddie & Alvin
Alvin and Eddie have a lovely home filled with affectionate animals. I first pet sat with them in 2019 through Trusted Housesitters and developed a friendship with them which has stood the test of time and distance. We have shared many laughs and a few tears when some of their beloved pets passed away. They reached out to me this summer to pet-sit again while they vacationed abroad. I got many cuddles and laughs from the quirky and loveable pets. The feeding schedule is very straightforward and easy and all of the animals are potty trained and love getting their energy out in the fenced in back yard. This time around I took Pepper out on walks every day and got to see the developing neighborhood with many nearby restaurants. I've been so lucky to know this family and to share so many beautiful moments with them.

Darlene
Amazing experience surrounded by nature with stunning views and many furry friends.

Communication with Darlene was clear, and she provided a comprehensive guide about the house and pets. We were lucky to stay with her for 2 days, which helped us get familiar with everything and meet her friends. Darlene also picked us up from the city and dropped us off when we left.

If you love being immersed in nature, this place is for you. The view from the house, visits from toucans and monkeys, and the fireflies at night were unforgettable. Three weeks flew by. Keep in mind that you're 2 hours from the city and hospitals, or 40 minutes from the nearest village, but the minimarket in El Bramador (15 minutes by car) has basic supplies. Buy special products beforehand in Santiago, and you'll have everything you need to cook. The house is surrounded by fruit plants, arugula, and fresh eggs from the chickens!

Shaley is an energetic black lab who loves walks, waterfalls, and chasing crabs at the beach. She's obedient but can get distracted, so you need to keep an eye on her. Niña, the old lady, is quiet and likes to relax on the balcony. She needs help getting into the car but enjoys chasing crabs too. Patina, Radar, and Ronny are the three cats, free to come and go, but always around for food. They just need food, water, and cuddles. The chickens are fun and independent; just feed them, give them water, and collect fresh eggs. Check if they're all in the coop at night, as the door closes automatically.

For any emergency or unexpected situation, there's a supportive community of neighbors ready to help.

We highly recommend this place to anyone who loves being remote in nature, needs a break from traveling, or wants to work online (Starlink works great, and there are UPS systems for short power outages. For longer outages, mobile 4G works well).

We can't wait to come back!

Kirsten
We had a delightful stay at Kirsten’s cozy, ocean view beach bungalow on the hillside in Red Beach, NZ. The area has supermarkets, cafes and great restaurants within a few minutes drive.

Mabel is a super friendly, lovable, yellow lab who is affectionate and enjoys daily, long walks on the beach. One of the sweetest dogs we’ve sat for. Mostly obedient off lead and good with other dogs. Treats help :-)

Nono, a super fluffy Maine Coon cat, is more reserved, however, very friendly at feeding time. She liked to spend most of her time outside.

Both Mabel and Nono get fed twice daily.

As winter in NZ is chilly, thankfully the house has a working fireplace and space heaters. Surprisingly, very few flying insects in such a lush, green setting. Do take care to ziplock open snacks as ants can find them.

We appreciated that the stay came with the use of the dog car for beach trips. Most days, we took Mabel to Cooper Reserve right up the way for easy parking and beach access (check tide chart as it's best to go during low tide). She loves being off lead, exploring and swimming in the ocean plus it gave us a great excuse to get out in the fresh air and exercise too!

Kirsten is welcoming and helpful getting you settled in. A treasured stay on the North Island of New Zealand. From the heart, we will miss Mabel ❤️

Emily
It was an absolute joy to sit Ferris & Wilbur for Emily and Luke and a purrfect way to end the year .
Because of Omicron we did a virtual handover but Emily and Luke went over and above to make sure I was welcomed, arrived safely and settled me in.

It was wonderful to arrive in their exceptionally clean , organized and beautifully decorated home. We kept in touch after the sit confirmation and I got to know Emily and the kittens hilarious antics through our texts. Emily did a stupendous job of the virtual handover with video tours and the clips more than covered all the relevant points. THS should emulate Emily’s virtual handover to make it a standard THS template. She’s just so organised, it made the sit a breeze and easy to do.

I’ve done a lot of sits and can unreservedly say Emily and Luke and their well mannered and trained kitties are hands down every sitter’s dream. Both are just genuinely kind and ever so thoughtful and considerate of their sitter’s needs. Even though they could not be there, from the moment I stepped in, I felt welcomed and appreciated. It was bliss and SO nice to be given generous wardrobe and cupboard space, complete with hangers. Literally Emily has everything you need and could wish for. On top of that, their generosity has no bounds. One of the rare times I didn’t need to buy essential supplies - massive thanks Ems. You’re the best. In every instance this sit is what sitters dream and wish for - tons of tips and suggestions… even on bad weather days. I can go on forever but I hope I’ve given them the credit they so deserve in being exemplary hosts, above and beyond.

The location of their home is just brilliant. Everything is at their doorstep, within walking distance. The beachfront is paradise, even bad weather can’t rob the beauty of Hove and Brighton.

I saved the icing on the cake for last. Ferris and Wilbur are such characters . On my sit, I think they swopped roles. Wilbur was the fearless outgoing one. Ferris took a few days to overcome his shyness and soon enough there was no turning back. When not engaged in manic rambunctious play, tearing up and down the hallway, they make wonderful company just chilling or recharging their batteries close or next to you. They both have their own winning ways and you will be hard pressed not to fall in love with them. But Wilbur will have you in stitches with his unbridled energy. I thoroughly enjoyed every moment with both and can’t have enough . You will too. Both will outwit and outsmart you given a chance but Emily will preempt you on what to look out for.

Sitters looking to sit, pounce for a chance to do this sit. It doesn’t get better than this. Great hosts, brilliant communication throughout, wonderful home and location and to complete it all just purrfect lovable pussins to boot.

Thank you Emily, Luke, Ferris and Wilbur

Rosie
Rosie's home and pets were delightful!. Nala spent quite a lot of time hanging out with us, Zoe (boss kitty) was sweet too. Steeler loved his daily walks and true to his name stole a few items from our room when he got a chance..but didn't destroy anything..he's mischievous for sure! They all stole our ❤️ hearts. The house is immaculate and yet cozy and inviting. We celebrated Easter dinner with my daughter and her family (with Rosies permission) as our original plan to have a celebration at the beach was dashed with bad weather. All in all it was a wonderful experience.

Gabby
It was such a pleasure to care for Gabby’s home and pets. Iris the dog is so loving and well trained, and the the three cats are really cuddly and easy going. Gabby’s house has a beautiful location, near wilderness hikes and half an hour drive to Malibu beaches. Recommend having a vehicle, although Gabby was kind enough to let me use her car for local journeys. A beautiful sit, I highly recommend.
