Maureen
An absolute joy of a sit. Maureen and the home she has created is warm and welcoming. And then... there are the princesses Daisy Mae and Annabella. They are as precious as can be, such personalities and so adorable. Great neighborhood for dog walking and a greenway close for more walks.
Looking forward to returning in a few days for another visit.

What a pleasure it was to meet Robert and family. Their dog Champ is a delight,
with lots of personality.
Beautiful home in a historic section of Salem, with lots to see and all walkable.
They are gracious hosts with all details for our sit at our fingertips, that made us
comfortable from the beginning.

Gosh, Jerimiah and his kitties were delightful. He is very easy going and his home is cozy and full of light and plants. His kitties are adorable and low maintenance. I would absolutely pet sit for them again.

Trinity
We experienced quite some issues with this house sit and we didn’t feel comfortable or welcome at all. Paul and Trinity treated us like a doormat, they were very demanding and insensitive. When asking them for something their reactions were harsh and unsupportive. Despite all that we took our responsibilities and tried to make the best out of this housesit. We sent nice pictures and videos regularly, but they didn’t even bother to respond to those.
Paul and Trinity haven’t been honest with us. During the initial interview they only stressed the importance of grooming Gillan every other day and they wanted to know if we were okay with that. They withheld important information that was also not mentioned in the welcome guide. In hindsight we realize that they haven’t posted any pictures of the interior of the house on their listing on the website, only pictures of the terrace, the dogs, the pool and the view. Had we seen pictures of the livingroom and guestroom we probably would not have chosen to sit here. The biggest issue was the cramped bed of 1.37 wide in the guestroom and also the fact that this room is next to the dog room so we woke up with every squeak and bark the dogs made. The masterbedroom was on the other side of the house and had a wider bed so we kindly asked if we could move into that bedroom, but the answer was not favourable.

They had recently installed an alarm system and used the alarm log to control how long we had been away from the house. They told us to not leave the dogs longer than max 5 hours alone, but on a couple occasions we stayed away 5,5 – 6 hours because of unforeseen circumstances (once we were lost on a hike for example). Dogs can perfectly be home alone for about 6 hours, although I agree this is not something we would do daily. And we didn’t, because we worked from home so we spent many days with the dogs at the house. The days were not hot in May/June and we always left a window open in the dog room and we walked them before we left so we were sure they had defecated before we left. We also made sure they had plenty of water.
One day there was something wrong with the alarm and a technician had to come and fix it. That night Trinity sent me a message telling me that she didn’t want us to use the blanket that was laying on the couch. This felt as an invasion of our privacy and I was really upset. After that we didn’t feel really free in the house anymore because they were able to take a picture (or even a video?) at any time. I told her so and also told her that I put the blanket on that couch in case the dogs would jump on that couch and Paul had told me (and it is in the welcome guide) that they don’t want the dogs on the couch. Since I cannot watch them all the time I put that blanket there, I thought she would appreciate that but instead she told me to obey the rules of no dogs on the couch. I tried to make her understand that if you have other people in the house that sometimes things go a little bit different but that she could trust on us to take good care of everything but her answer was very rude.
They also “forgot” to mention the daily scooping of the dog poo from the terrace. We both found this was a disgusting chore. The fact that the dogs pee and poo everywhere they like is very unhygienic. The bucket that Paul told us to use was so filthy. He uses the lid to scoop the poo into the bucket and waits for the whole bucket to be full (which will take several weeks) before emptying it in the field. Can you imagine how that looks and smells?

Honestly, I don’t think that Trinity and Paul could have found more responsible and caring dogsitters. The “boys” were perfectly taken care of. I groomed Gillan every other day like I was instructed. We took him to the groomer in Torrox (took us half a day) and the groomer complimented me that he was so well groomed and she didn’t find a single knot. We took the dogs for short sniff walks and they absolutely loved it. Every time we put our shoes on they were so excited, it was really heartwarming. Trinity and Paul never walk Ossie, Max and Gillan, they are backyard dogs. Experts say that backyard dogs easily get bored and need sniff walks of at least 20 minutes every day because it is good for their mental health. So I think we not only made them happy dogs, we made them happier dogs. Despite all the negativity we experienced, the last weekend we went to the market in Competa and bought some nice flowers to put on the terrace, for Paul and Trinity to enjoy when they were back home. We also left them some Dutch stroopwafels with a little note that we hoped they would enjoy them. We also sent a positive email to Trinity. We spent all morning cleaning before we closed the door behind us to go home after 3 weeks.
Despite all this, Trinity gave us a devastating 1 star review without ever talking to us. We are really upset about this review. Not once did they reach out to us. They never told us that they were worried about the dogs and that they thought we were not treating them well. They could have sent some friends over to judge the situation. They could have sent us away if they were really thinking we were “not in their dogs best interest” (Trinity’s words). They even could have come home sooner. They did none of that. All she claims we did do or did not do is based on assumptions and misinterpretations. Everything she says is beside the truth. We have no idea why they are so resentful but we do know we did nothing to deserve this treatment and we know that we have taken really good care of Ossie, Max and Gillan – we loved those dogs, they were very affectionate, all with their own funny personalities.
You are invited to read her review about us, you will see the tone is very aggressive and disrespectful. In an honest review both the positive and the points for approvement are mentioned to come to a well balanced review. We would have given 3 stars to this housesit, but are deducting a star for the way Trinity and Paul have treated us during and after the housesit.

Jacqueline
From start to finish, one of the most pleasant sit I've experienced. Following our Zoom chat, the hosts invited me for a meet-and-great and tour of their lovely home. There I was introduced to Luna, Chloey, and Babou - the sweetest fur kiddos ever. Luna is frisky and playful by day, by evening she's a couch potato who's out like a light by 9PM. When Luna wasn't chasing her off, Chloey - a Netflix and cuddle kind of girl - was my constant companion. She'll follow you from room-to-room then disappear for hours when she wants her space. Babou, the shy one, stayed in to himself mostly. But I think we established a slight bond by the end of the sit.

If you're up for a stroll with Luna, the neighborhood is super quiet, safe, and walkable. If not, thanks to the huge backyard and doggy door, she can practically walk herself. Other pros include the guest room, separate bathroom, and exercise area in the basement. Jacqueline's warm, easy-going spirit made communication and planning throughout the sit an organic and stressless process. I can't wait to see them all again.
