Sitting for David and Lynda was a pleasure. What a lovely home in the most gorgeous location. Jagger, Grover, Trudi, and Jade were a pleasure (well, Jade probably didn't care who put down her food). Each of the three dogs was so loving and affectionate. If you are fortunate enough to housesit for David and Lynda, may I suggest the Gap of Dunloe and Priest's Leap (for brave drivers) and the seafood chowder at Casey's. I would eagerly housesit and care for Jagger, Grover, Trudi, and Jade again.
This stay was such a wonderful experience. Stacie is communicative, flexible, and easy to work with and Tater Tot is just a joy! Well trained, friendly, absolutely gorgeous, high energy but also cuddly, and easy to care for. The apartment is so beautiful and homey and in such a great location! Close to downtown and easy transitions with public transportation. 10/10 I recommend applying for this stay if you have the opportunity.
Dorothy and Cody have a lovely little home in the St. Johns area of Portland. They are just the nicest couple and took the time to have me over to meet Benny and Scout before they left to go out of town. Dorothy left 3 pages of very helpful instructions and notes related to the restaurants in the area, and things to do, and everything I needed to know to care for the dogs. I work remotely, and their internet was perfect for the zoom meetings I needed to attend. Benny and Scout were a joy to care for. Benny, the younger cattle dog mix was eager to play and would do anything for a treat. I had a great time working with him to reinforce what Dorothy was teaching him about loose leash walking. Scout was the older, wiser, more chill guy. He loves to go for his walks, and puts up with Benny's puppy like energy, but his favorite thing to do was to lay under Dorothys' desk while I worked at my feet. These dogs were so well behaved, and really loved the human companionship. Their home is comfy, clean and bright and was a lovely place to call home for a few days. I would gladly sit for them again.
Quite probably this is the most wonderful US housesit I have done with Trusted Housesitters. First of all Michael is a splendid host— warm, flexible, great pre and post sit communication and available if you have questions during the sit. Laka, the cat, while shy at first, is a real love once she warms up. After the first night there wasn’t a night when she wasn’t snuggled up beside me in bed by midnight and if I read or knit in the evening, she curled up at my hip. The house is wonderfully situated (great places to walk and hike) and incredibly well equipped. If you are a “book child” as I am, Michael has a great library which he gladly shares. If you are a cook or a baker, this house is perfect. Great bread came out of Michael’s oven while I was there. Then there is Port Townsend, a dream of a small town to explore. I live in a town whose motto is “they don’t make towns like this anymore”, ditto Port Townsend. In short I cannot imagine a better sit.
I had the best time at Julia’s gorgeous home! Julia was easy to communicate with before and during the sit. Maisie is a sweet dog who was incredibly friendly right away, which made my sit super enjoyable. Maisie knows her way around town and every store has free dog treats! Thank you so much Julia and I hope to be back again.
The sit with Hannah was great! Hannah has an awesome condo. She is so helpful and detailed about the neighborhood. Roy has a hilarious personality and is so much fun to hang out with. He’s a very easy keeper, too. Hannah has an automatic feeder and a litter box that cleans itself, Roy just likes company.
