Ryan and Luis were wonderful house guest that took super care of my babies during My time away. They were respectful to the property, shared updates while I was away, communicated well and left the house as good (or better) upon their departure. I would gladly have them return again for caring of my home and pets! Thank you Ryan and Luis!

Aideen
My partner and I recently had the pleasure of dog sitting for Finn and Shadow, and we couldn't have hoped for better dogs. They were incredibly affectionate, well-behaved, and an absolute delight to care for. We were very sad to say goodbye to them at the end of our stay, as we just absolutely fell under their spell.

Aideen and Barry were wonderful hosts. They were very welcoming and kind, providing us with all the details we needed to care for the dogs and the house. They were also very considerate, offering recommendations for the local area and central Dublin, which enhanced our stay. We are very thankful to them for making us feel so comfortable in their home, and to Finn and Shadow for never leaving our side and offering constant affection.

Upon our arrival, I watched Aideen walk the dogs, which immediately put us at ease that we were well equipped to care for the two dogs - one young, and another having a disability. It was the highlight of our day when walking Finn and Shadow in the local park nearby (or rather, it felt like they walked us!), and all the fun was to be had watching them socialise in the designated dog park with the other dogs; having gained their trust, they responded well when it came to returning to the lead and being good boys. It was a big plus that the locals in the park were very chatty and welcoming, too (come rain or shine), which we loved.

Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and we very much hope to see them again soon

We loved sitting for Emily and taking care of her sweet cats. The house was super comfortable and cozy. I definitely recommend this sitting.

Florence
Florence and I never got the chance to meet but I could tell on our interactions she was a lovely caring person. She kept in touch when she was away to make sure we were ok and had everything we needed in her comfortable home. JC and Ralph were a pleasure to care for. They loved spending time in the garden and playing with the fishing lines. Ralph was always not too far from us and was happy to have lots of attention. JC was more independent but when he got to know us he enjoyed head scratches too. All in all they were a delight and we would definitely sit for Florence and Max again if the opportunity arises. Thank you for choosing us Florence🙏

Peggy and Tom were warm, friendly, generous hosts. From taking us to dinner, to a nice homemade breakfast before our departure, they made us feel welcomed and appreciated. They are “our home is your home” type of hosts. We feel like we have made new friends. Their lovely, well appointed home sits beside a beautiful marsh in a golfing community. The guest room was very comfortable with everything we could possibly need thought of. Our favorite place was the comfortable, light filled sunroom to watch the tides come and go, read a book, as well as bird watching. There are beaches to visit, seafood to eat, and easy to take a day trip to close by Charlston. Of course, the star of the sit is Stella! As most cats, she lets you know when she is ready to do anything, to be petted, fed, or just be left alone. Her favorite spot is around your neck when you’re sitting on the sunporch. She also loves to watch the birds at the feeder and occasional foray outside to check her kingdom. This has definitely been a five star sit and we would gladly return when our schedule permits.

Debbie
We enjoyed our stay with Couper in Debbie's beautiful, comfortable home! As Couper had recently lost his companion Kota, it took a bit for him to warm up to us on his own. He's still got some of his puppy energy, so be sure to give Couper plenty of time to run and play in the yard. Would recommend this house sit!

I've been really busy, but wanted to take some time to provide a review of my experience from this sit here.

I enjoyed meeting Shelley and her friends this past summer. The area was just beautiful, and her dog is nice.

I will say that the host seems wary of using Trusted Housesitters, which made me feel a little uncomfortable at times. Mayhe hiring a professional paid sitter is the better option for this person.

I will say I do have a few concerns I will express here :

Shelley :

when I asked about the possibility of staying one extra day, your communications in response felt concerning to me. It is perfectly fine to decline a sitter staying an extra day. I do know it is totally common among the Trusted Housesitters community to have the sitter arrive or stay a day early. However, it's also totally fine to decline that request if it doesn't work for the host. Interestingly enough, I later realized that on my next sit thr host had invited me a day early, so I later realized I didn't need the extra day anyway.

When you asked me to pick up pumpkin for your dog, it felt like a demand, and when I stated that I do a lot of delivery work and try to minimize extra errands, your response felt entitled and disrespectful to me. I feel it is the responsibility of the pet owner to have the necessary food items available, and only in an emergency should the sitter have to make an extra errand to pick up a food item. The safety and well being of any pet I care for is always my top priority. At the same time, since Trusted Housesitters is not a paid position for the sitter, I have to set boundaries and parameters around my schedule as I have to be working deliveries to make income. Additonally, I had never been to the Bay area before so was still learning my way around, I didn't know how whether this extra errand ypu demanded was close by or not.

You said that you were unwilling to allow me to stay an extra night of a $300 per night value when I "objected" to running an extra errand to pick up a food item for your dog. This communication felt very arrogant, disrespectful, and condescending to me. I don't appreciate being talked to that way. I felt like I was being treated like a personal servant.
A more helpful message would have been "hey, in exchange for the extra night you requested, could you pick up some pumpkin for the dog?"

Also, I drove 45 minutes out of my way for a meet and greet to meet you and your dog several weeks before you departed for travel. I definitely went the extra mile already! It is best to arrange a time for the sitter to come a few hours before you leave, if possible, to save them an extra trip out there. It is not uncommon for hosts to have sitters come a day early, such as the night before the host departs. However, that's totally fine if you're not comfortable with that, but then you need to make other arrangements do the sitter doesn't have to make an extra trip if they are further away. I had never once been to the Bay area and was new to learning my way around the area.

Additionally, I'd recommend if possible to just find one sitter for your dog while you're away. I enjoyed meeting the other people, but it felt like a huge hassle to have to be communicating with several others to coordinate things with the other contacts. My recommendation, if possible, is to just stick with one sitter. It would probably be easier on everyone involved, including the dog as well. Given that your dog is elderly and needs special attention along with the watering of plants and pool care, I think a paid professional sitter outside from the Trusted Housesitters platform would be the best fit. It is asking way too much from an unpaid person. The home is absolutely lovely, but it is not necessary that a solo traveler such as me needs access to those amenities, so in hindsight it sounds like it wasn't the best fit. And from what I recall looking up regarding airbnb prices in the area, I didn't see 300 dollars per night listed. To say you're giving me a 300 dollar per value night sounds like you're doing the sitter a huge favor, when in reality you're receiving conscientious, caring attention from an unpaid person that is of tremendous value to you as the owner.

Addiotnally, your friends brought over 2 additional dogs they expected me to watch, and even though it was brief and minimal, it did create an extra burden of responsibility. I had to keep an extra eye on these small dogs in the back, as they were getting close to the gate and could've tried to squeeze out underneath and escape!

I really at times felt taken advantage of. I care a lot about the Trusted Housesitters community, that's why I express my concerns.

Given the way I felt disrespected and taken advantage of, I would not want to return to a sit like this.

All the very best.

Respectfully,

Brad
