Denise and Chris are a charming couple, welcoming us into their home with a delicious dinner on arrival while we got to know the essentials for their sit. They have a lovely practical home in a quiet neighbourhood, with everything in the home that could be needed. Denise had compiled a very comprehensive Welcome Guide information pack. Their property is on the outskirts of the village where there is a small supermarket and a bakery. There is also an extremely talented Butcher/Charcutier, as our stay was over Christmas, we ordered a refined Christmas Dinner dish and accompaniment which was truly excellent. There is also a local wine Cooperative a few minutes away, with good typical wines. There are lots of things to see and do in their part of ‘France Profonde’, Bergerac, Montbazillac and the regular local markets, especially in Ste Foy la Grande, to mention but a few. Denise and Chris have 3 lovely cats, who are not difficult to look after. Toby and Izzy are very independent, and as it was Winter, they spent a lot of time indoors, more or less hiding until it is time for food... Maisie is quite different and enjoys a stroke and your company at night if she chooses. We really enjoyed house and pet sitting for Denise and Chris and would have no hesitation in recommending them, their home and pets to other house sitters.
