Kristi and John thank you for coming to stay. Sadly there was no Rainie to care for because she had disappeared a week prior. We are so grateful they were still willing to come just in case our beloved cat showed up. No such luck. I still gave them five stars for pet care because I know they would have been perfect for her. The house was tidier than we had left it for them. They also went on sites to look for missing kitties and wandered around the neighborhood looking for her.
We thank you Kristi and John and want to say you will not go wrong welcoming Kristi and John into your home.

This was an absolutely wonderful rural sit. Everything about it was amazing, and I can't recommend it highly enough. Gareth and Fiona are really friendly, warm, and welcoming, which isn't surprising given that they operate gites, and have a lifetime of experience in high-end hospitality. They prepared a meal for me when I arrived, which is much better than it sounds, because Gareth is a highly qualified chef - so it felt like I was in a 5 star hotel!

During the sit I stayed in one of the gites, which they've recently refurbished to a very high standard. It has everything you could want, including a lovely log fire.

But of course, the highlight of the sit was the company of Samy and Daisy, two of the sweetest dogs I've ever come across. Samy is the cutest little beagle you could possibly imagine, and loves a good snuggle on the sofa. If you like beagles (who doesn't?!) then you won't be able to stop yourself falling for him. Daisy is a cross, and looks like a beagle mixed with something larger like a Labrador. She's very affectionate and lovable, and is definitely one of the most beautiful dogs I've known. They're both obedient, and easy to look after. They just needed a 30 minute walk in the morning, and then they stayed outside most of the day, playing and exploring by themselves, and would come back in by themselves at dusk.

During the sit I also got to look after the chickens, which was a little unusual, because unlike others I've looked after, these chickens were super-friendly, and liked to be picked up!

The location of this sit was also great. It's in the middle of farmland, quite far from the roads, so you don't hear any traffic - just the gentle sounds of the countryside. The nearest town is only a 6 minute drive away, where you can pick up fresh bread and other provisions.

Once again, a highly recommended sit, and a huge thanks to Gareth and Fiona for their generous hospitality :-)

Michelle
We had a grand time taking care of Harlow and Anouk. Michelle and Maruan are a great couple who were welcoming and kept in contact throughout our stay. Harlow is very independent, but will come home when you call, mostly because he knows food is waiting for him. He loves it when you pet him while he’s eating. He likes being around, and especially loves hanging out at the top of the cat-tree. He will extend one paw when you walk by the cat-tree. Anouk is more of the homebody and most often is sleeping in one of her three favorite spots in the house. It makes it easy to find out if she is or isn’t in the house.

Louisburgh is a quiet and charming little town that is a short pleasant walk away. There is much to explore in the area, and explore we did. Of particular interest were the various memorials to the Famine of the mid 1800s, and all the ancient burial cairns and old ruins of churches and abbeys.

Michelle and Maruan’s apartment is clean and well organized and easy to keep it that way. Off the main floor is a small deck that looks out over the nearby stream. It is beautiful and the sound has a zen-like quality to it. The upper floor bedroom also looks out over the stream.

We were not able to see Michelle and Maruan upon their return due to travel time issues, but surely wished we had the opportunity to share more time with them. Would absolutely want to take care of Harlow and Anouk again.
