Toby was the best pet-sitter we could ever ask for. Our two cats fell in love with him immediately, which we could tell from the daily photos and updates he gave us. He organised his travel to and from the sit well in advance, and always replied to any messages in good time. We arrived home to 2 very happy and healthy cats and an immaculately clean home. We would have him sit for us again any time, and could not recommend him more highly to anyone else.
Tamara was a great sitter and a lovely person! She kept in contact regularly with us, sending daily updates about Daisy and our home. The house was left clean and Daisy seemed to have enjoyed Tamara’s company. She is very organised and reliable, so would have no hesitation in recommending her!
I really enjoyed meeting Helen Ann and would like to use her again. She was very easy to get along with and understood instructions easily. She was even willing to wash the dog.
Lovely family. Excellent communications. Yvan took the time when I arrived to explain everything in detail. Enjoyed a nice homemade dinner getting to know the three men in the house (dad and two delightful sons). Had the pleasure of meeting Lisa at the end of the housesit and exchanging some funny dog stories. Beautifully renovated home that was always a joy to return to. Located in a quiet village with amenities - fruit/veggie store, recommended boulangerie with long opening times, a pharmacy, a car wash, Lidl (if you like carpaccio pick it up here), E. Leclerc nearby. Enjoy a delicious affordable weekday lunch at ‘Le Scorlion’ in St. Jean d’Angely or pick up some local delicacies at the Saturday morning market. Nice hikes along the Boutonne. The syndicat d’initiative will provide details. If you want to meet locals and enjoy activities such as hiking, ping pong, yoga or improving your French reach out to the AVF in St. Jean d’Angely. There are lots of places to visit in the area..Drive over to Cognac, take a tour of Hennessey or another producer, check out the public gardens behind the helpful tourist bureau. Spend half a day in Saintes or the Marais Poitevin. La Rochelle and Ile de Ré are approx a good hour’s drive away. All worth a visit. I looked after two chicken and two chocolate labs. One lab is older and the other still a pup. Both were very sweet and attentive. The older one - Izumi - will let you know by barking when to let her in and out of the house (I had the door closed as it was winter). The fenced garden is huge and has a creek that passes through it which the dogs love using. The younger dog - Tonka - is a hoot. Every day she would come up with new ways to keep me entertained. Both dogs love lots of cuddles and love. And Kimbereley’s eggs are delicious (she’s the gre/ay hen). You will be lucky if you can get this housesit 😄
