Carolyn and David were wonderful hosts! We were able to meet Black, Grey, and Ginger a few weeks before the sit and get some more details about their care. Our hosts left a very helpful set of instructions and communication was a breeze, as well. The cats are very sweet, well trained, and we had a lot of fun during our time with them! The house is a beautiful property in a very nice, green, and quiet area of Cork, accessible by bus, and the perfect distance from city centre, shopping centres, and walks. We had a wonderful time, and we highly recommend this sit!
Have you ever dreamed of living in a log cabin home made of Canadian cedar? This is your lucky chance! Not only is the home cozy and comfortable, the two large dogs were a delight to look after. The older one, Missy, is affectionate in a dignified, wise way. She patiently and quietly stood when I told her that we would go for a walk and calmly would wait for me to put on her leash. Missie likes hip massages and will turn her back to you when she is wants her massage. Young Gracie, while just as affectionate, was a bubbly bundle of joy who could not wait to get into the woods behind the house to explore and play. She loves her belly rubs. Both girls had exceptional manners thanks to super trainer Alan. Alan took me on a few walks with the girls through the woods and taught me the various dog commands. Missie and Gracie would always follow commands 'come around', 'Fuss', 'komm her' and others to a tee. If only all my housesit dogs were this well trained! Missie and Gracie love their daily 'Easter egg' hunt and would remind me when they thought it was time to play and I had not prepared the game yet. Missie will even bring you the emptied dog food bowls all the way to the dishwasher! I tried to teach Gracie but was not successful. One of my favorite past times was walking the dogs through the forest. I would let the girls choose the path. Gracie loved being the leader. She would constantly look over her shoulder to make sure we were all following correctly :-). Most of the time we had the entire forest to ourselves. The few times we encountered other people and dogs, Missy and Gracie immediately came when I called them. We often came across deer and here too the girls were very attentive to me and would not chase. Alan and Sheryl are a very sweet couple. They showed me all the ropes - how to feed the dogs, where to find their food, how to separate the garbage (always an involved task in Germany), how to maintain the s*** hill. If you get a chance ask them about how they met and what happened next. A heart-warming love story. They were very kind to drop off my son at the train station at an unearthly early hour when Alan was taking Sheryl and their son to the airport in Frankfurt. If you are lucky enough to be chosen for this housesit, you will take home sweet memories of two delightful dogs and a most pleasant housesit.
We are very grateful to Rachel for choosing us to care for her home and 5* Hatty, the purrfect puss. It was a partial “going home” experience for us as we used to live close by and amazingly, Rachel is treasurer of the choir I used to sing with. It was wonderful to be able to visit family and good friends in the area. The whole experience got off to a delightful start as Rachel and Ian hosted a meal for 6 house guests….the other two couples being close friends overnighting before heading off for their holiday together the next day. An amazing accomplishment at the end of a busy week, as they also hosted their son’s special Birthday! Another mention of Hatty, the true star of our stay. We bonded straight away. She was very affectionate and playful. We loved the way she curled up on the bed at night. A gentle face tap let us know when it was time to get up - some mornings earlier than others! 😉
I looked after Rosie for two weeks for Clare and Roger. Rosie was a gorgeous, sweet puppy and I would look after her again in a instant! Whitley bay is a gorgeous area to go dog walking and explore around. Clare and Roger were very accomodating and left me with lots of helpful information and knowledge for the sit.
Tiffany was very friendly. Nice, easy kitty who likes to be around you.
Gus is one of the friendliest cats I have ever met! It was a total joy spending time with him. A total sweetheart and extremely gentle and well-behaved. I loved the house - - extremely comfortable, great working space downstairs and an office upstairs. The window AC units kept us cool during the heatwave, and it was really relaxing to sit out in the backyard in the evenings. Great location 3 blocks from the J train to get into the city or transfer to other lines. A ton of fantastic restaurants all along Jamaica Ave. Forest Park just up the street.
