We loved our 3 week sit at Alison and John’s house. It’s beautifully situated in the country side and very peaceful. A car is necessary as local towns are too far to walk and there are no buses. We arrived early for handover and they kindly put us up in the cottage just next to the main house. It is fully equipped and very comfortable however the internet doesn’t reach the cottage so you’ll need to use internet in the main house. The house itself is very comfortable and nice to stay in and has modern comforts. We looked after their 2 dogs, 3 cats, 3 horses and chooks: The dogs are very sweet and we fell in love with them. Eddie is a darling and happy curled up on the couch under his blanket. He especially loves a snuggle in bed (under the blankets) where he’s nice and warm. Cyril has youthful energy and loves to run around the back yard and play fetch with his toys. He needs an eye on him every now and then to make sure he’s not getting into mischief. Both eat dry food and are crate trained so it’s easy to leave them for a few hours. The cats are self-sufficient. They come and go as they please and eat dry food inside the house. Just be careful because Elsa does like to leave care packages of things she’s hunted.. make sure Cyril doesn’t find them and roll in it. The horses are all beautifully natured and fairly easy to look after. Bailey needs some spray and ointment/paste for his skin. They eat fresh grass and a dry feed mix. Mucking out as required. We loved watching them run around in the evenings. Despite being well natured, it is important to have experience with horses as they’re fairly big and need a daily once over. The chooks are easy and lay lots of eggs. They need feeding with scraps and pellets daily and mucking out as required. J&A are lovely, generous people. They were proactive with communication before the sit and gave us a thorough handover so we were well prepared. Overall, we loved this sit and recommend it for people with a car, who enjoy the piece and quiet and who have experience looking after big and small animals. We would happily return if the opportunity arose! D&C
