I was in for a treat for my second sit with Trusted House Sitters: a flat right on Deptford High street, where the groove is, full of life and fun. Hannah made me feel at home. Maria is a tender cat full of life and play. I enjoyed working on the terrace, while Maria was sunbathing. We had fun together.. Highly recommended. Would love to sit for you guys again.
I really enjoyed this sit! Sara's house is super cute and tidy. And Pete is just the sweetest! It was a very relaxing few days and I hope to sit for them again in the future!
Lovely stay in a beautiful converted chapel, where I felt very safe and well-connected to London and the motorways. Pre-sit Meaghan was very helpful with my travel arrangements. When I arrived for the handover it was very thorough. Lewis is timid and still getting used to sitters; I’ve had a lot of cat experience over 35+ years, having grown up with them, I adore cats and their weird quirks, so could manage this. Just be mindful if you’re to sit that he needs lots of love and attention and needs peace and quiet and someone caring and conscientious. Thanks for having me stay Meaghan, I’d be happy to look after Lewis again.
First the bottom line - if you get the chance to sit for Jo and her lovely dog Ollie - do it! Ollie is a sweetheart. A loving dog who will quickly become your best friend. When we met they had recently lost their other Labrador, Izzy, and Ollie obviously missed her usual canine companion. Because of that I encouraged Ollie to sleep with me nights, and made sure to give her extra attention. She is so adorable! Her walks are always fun, especially as she swims in the river. She walks beautifully both on and off leash. Ollie has trouble with one paw - I took a video of Jo wrapping it and that was very helpful. Jo and her husband are fabulous hosts! The best food we had in the UK was the two dinners he cooked for us! Communication before and during the sit was excellent. Any question I had was immediately answered with a helpful, encouraging response. You will love their home and gardens! The kitchen is a cook's dream and the rest of the house is beautiful and tranquil. We got to see the roses coming out and loved it. Rhayader itself is a delight. You don't need a car - you can walk everywhere. Things to be sure you don't miss: the local butcher has excellent meat and eggs and was very helpful telling 2 Americans how to cook somethings. The butcher also makes excellent meat pies, which we had for at least one meal each day. I recommend the chicken and leek pie! Be sure to eat at the Golden Triangle, the food is excellent. The hardware store is a great place for souvenirs, and the best craft and arts store I have ever been in, Quillies, is just down the street. Check out the music offerings at the Lost Ark. Most places are dog-friendly, and you can take Ollie anywhere confident that you will be treated as a friend, most people in town will recognize Ollie. Have a wonderful time, and I know that all other sitters will feel the same way we do, that we got lucky enough to enjoy one of the best sits possible! I'd happily return any time.
