This was a wonderful housesit! Jenny and Neil were so friendly and made us very welcome. Communication was easy and Jenny left us detailed instructions. The home is beautiful, clean and in a fabulous location. But the star of the show is Wolfie who is such a sweet natured boy. We enjoyed our daily walks with Wolfie exploring Battery Point and he loves to snuggle up on the sofa in the evening. We would love to housesit again for Jenny and Neil, and we highly recommend this housesit. Thanks for having us!
We sat for Hugh and Jude over a period of eighteen days on their lovely small holding in west Wales. What a great exchange... We arrived the night before and we're instantly made to feel welcome. After a cup of tea and a chat we were shown the ropes. Our responsibilities were minimal and enjoyable, consisting of basic up keep and animal care. Our time in Wales flew past, relaxing with the cats and hiking with Jimmy, the awesome springer spaniel! When we weren't with the animals we were enjoying ourselves in the garden, picking all sorts of fresh delectables. We also spent our time bread making, as Jude introduced us to the preparation and baking of sourdough. Wonderful... We're sad it's over, it was an absolute joy! If you find yourself in a position to sit for Hugh and Jude, consider yourself very lucky. In addition, I can say without hesitation that Hugh and Jude are some of the most pleasant people we've had the privilege of meeting in our past year abroad... Thank you, Hugh and Jude! We spent 6 weeks looking after Jayne’s home and caring for the lovely Lucy. We had an amazing time and would love to return one day! Lucy was a little nervous when we first met, but after a few days she’s warmed to us. Our baby girl Yuna and Lucy enjoyed each other company and would give each other kisses which was just too cute! We took Lucy to various places for her walks, with the usual ones being at West park and at Sharp hill. At West park she would play with so many other dogs and loves to be chased, and at Sharp hill she would love to run around the open fields and often chase the birds. The communication with Jayne was fantastic through out the sit. We would keep her updated now and then and she would help with any questions that we had. The house was located in a quiet cul de sac in a nice part of West Bridgford. There were shops and everything we needed just a 10 minute walk away. Thanks again Jayne! Have fun with your daughter and your grandson in New Zealand :)
Marie and Stephen were extremely friendly and welcoming, we felt very looked after and relaxed at their home. They made sure we had plenty of good food and took us to explore different towns! Their 4 cats are the sweetest. They are all super friendly and easy going kitties. They were always happy to receive cuddles and love:) We couldn't have wished for a more enjoyed sit. The location is beautiful and peaceful. We explored the town with their E-Bikes, which was also very fun! We really loved our time in Confolens and would happily sit here again!
Midgy is a sweet and quite sprightly 18-year-old (she seems younger!). She spent as much time as she could curled up in my lap - a great hot water bottle. I wasn't able to give her her pill by mouth but she accepted it crushed to a fine powder and mixed with a little food. The house is lovely and light and has a lived-in feeling. I loved the artwork on the walls. Deborah provided comprehensive instructions which was really helpful, and she responded to any queries I had. I hadn't intended to do a sit during the cold, dark winter months in Scotland, but when Deborah invited me to look after Midgy, I took the chance because Burghead is a place I've visited often and I've wondered what it would be like to stay there. It was certainly a wild introduction to the weather with high winds (ear plugs recommended for sleep) and snow at the start of the week. However, when the skies cleared, the views from the windows were just stunning and it was so nice to sit and look out over the sea towards the horizon and listen to the sound of the waves on the shore outside. I appreciated my time with Midgy, even though it was during one of the coldest and quite stormy weeks, so far, this winter. Quite an adventure!
I had the best time housesitting for Margarita! She is a perfect host; we got on really well and she provided excellent instructions for everything I needed to do during the couple of days of handover we had together. With 6 cats, you do of course need to be prepared to spend a fair bit of time giving them care and attention, so it helps if you are organised! The cats are adorable - I’m absolutely in love with all their quirky personalities. The apartment has everything you need; I especially enjoyed the covered balcony and really appreciated having my own room and ensuite! The location worked really well for me - stunning views down the hillside and lots of countryside walks. It’s a quiet and slightly remote area - which I loved but you should be prepared for. The best accolade I can give is that I’ve already agreed to return for another housesitting trip - and I can’t wait! Thanks so much, Margarita!
