Maureen and Solenn and two more guests (agreed on beforehand) stayed at my place while I was away for a week to look after my cats. For the most part it went well but I did have some spots where they dropped the ball. I requested contact once per day to make sure everything was ok. That didn't happen although they did respond when I reached out but only with one line stating everything was fine. I left cleaning expectations such as vacuuming and cleaning the kitchen and bathrooms prior to them leaving. They state they cleaned before they left. I’m just going to have to say we have different definitions of clean. They did have clean sheets on the beds for my return which was the most important. A glass was broken and they killed at least 3 plants and a few more probably won't make it. A heads up would have been nice about that and an apology. True I didn't state don't open the windows with the plants on the windowsill in -10 degrees Celsius, so I learned I will need to add that to my welcome guide. The garbages were not taken out on garbage day as requested. They were allowed to use my car and they returned it in the same state I left it so that was appreciated. Pet care: that was well done with no concerns that I am aware of. None of these are make or break deals but there was a lot of them so I can't in all honesty give a great review. I’ve had each incident happen in prior sits but not all of these issues in one sit.

This was a wonderful housesit in an interesting and unique house with two well behaved and friendly terriers.

Lippy and Pistol are great dogs to spend time with and quicky form a bond with you. They get on well together and love to be where you are. As they stay in the large kitchen and conservatory, I spent most of my time with them there, often bringing a chair next to the Aga to sit with them. They have an easy routine and are very settled.

The walk around the garden with the dogs every morning is a lovely way to start the day and they are fond of going down to the river later too. I took the dogs up on to the moor but, as Pistol needs to be on a lead, due to his chasing instinct, I found it easier to stick with walking him around the grounds as he can pull a bit. They are fine walking in the grounds where he is calmer, and this is all that is needed, which again makes it all very simple.

The house feels quite magical in its rural, wooded, edge of Dartmoor setting. It's a beautiful place to stay and I was given a main ensuite bedroom which was very comfortable and had beautiful views down the valley. During my stay the weather was mostly raining or it was misty, which is very atmospheric, but on clear sunny days the setting is idyllic.
In the garden you can hear woodpeckers searching for food, owls screeching at night and many garden birds can be seen. There are also bats!

The historic house has all the quirks and character you would expect and is very special, but you'll need to be happy with creaking noises at night, as the house cools down, and with narrow country lanes and seclusion to enjoy being here. If these things don't worry you, you'll love it.

Jane makes arranging the sit very easy and provides an excellent welcome guide and additional information so everything you need to know is covered. The gardener comes twice a week and the cleaner was also about at times, but not in the house - so there is good back up if needed.
The shops are several miles away and you are near to Lydford Gorge and Tavistock town for days out. Launceston and Okehampton are also close by and, of course, there are all the wild walks on Dartmoor.
A recommended and memorable sit!

Super affectionate fur baby who is always up for walkies in near by parks, and close to transport and great High Street shopping, restaurants and bars. Highly recommended.

I had a great time with Smithy! He is a cuddly pup with an easy routine to follow. We had a great time exploring the neighborhood and spending our evenings on the couch together (sometimes he’ll even watch the tv with you!)

Pat and Audrey were flexible and communicative throughout the duration of the sit. I’d be happy to return anytime!

We do have a soft for labs and even more so after a weekend with Boomer. Perfect weather meant gently walks to parks and to the allotment. Boomer loves his home comforts and also likes to play and have belly rubs. Bath is a beautiful city and we felt very lucky to stay somewhere so comfortable and with such history. Rayne and her husband were very welcoming and had left comprehensive and helpful instructions for our stay, and Boomer is a darling :)

Taking care of Reidan and Ciara's home was a delightful experience. Reidan's affectionate nature made it a joy to spend time together.

Ciara's home exudes warmth and hospitality, and its location in a calm neighborhood with convenient amenities like groceries, restaurants, and public transport, including a nearby Communauto station, was perfect.

The close proximity to Ottawa's main attractions, such as the Canadian National History Museum just 1km away, made sightseeing effortless.

Ciara was an excellent communicator, offering helpful recommendations and attentively addressing any needs. I would gladly return, highly recommend!!
