Amanda and Javier welcomed myself and my partner into their home the night before the sit and provided a delicious supper with wine. The accommodation that we were given was lovely with crisp white sheets on the large bed and a well equipped en-suite bathroom. The house is a wonderful mix of the traditional French country building with deep walls and shuttered windows together with a beautiful backdrop of bespoke wall coverings courtesy of Amanda's professional skills. It also contains many artifacts, paintings and wooden scupltures that I believe Javier had collected over the years. The house has every amenity. A large great kitchen with a new range, copious cooking pans and utensils, enough crockery to start a B&B and a range of cups, glasses and dishes for any amount of entertaining - which we didn't do by the way! I found the house cool when it was cool outside but I am a person who feels the cold easily. Luckily the weather was fantastic from 5 days in to the sit with temperatures in the mid to high 20s. I was grateful for the cool house then! The garden and terrace area is extensive with an orchard and a garden vegetable and berry plot. The terrace was our favourite spot for lunch and dinner and with the pond and fountain and the beautiful flower borders it was a delight. There is a laundry room that is sited in an old building on the side of the house with a shady clothes line area. The washing machine was very efficient and I found it was better to put the clothes on the airer provided and put it somewhere in the back garden where the sun sets to dry. Having met Amanda and Javier earlier this year on our way down to another sit, we knew that Max and Simon had accepted us, which was a great start. Max is a fascinating dog with real character and a tremendous love of chasing a ball. His shaggy long hair looks amazing as he runs across the dunes before diving headlong into the sand on the beautiful, huge beach, for a roll around. Being a big dog, I thought that it was best to keep Max on a lead when approaching other people or dogs although he was never interested in any dogs that tried to interact with him except one particular labrador in a neighbour's property that he had various nose to nose friendly contact through the garden fence. Max always wanted to be by our side wherever we were in the house often lying on our feet just to make sure he was close enough! He was a little wary of me brushing his coat - which was necessary after his time on the beach or even running around the garden - his fur would attract all kinds of leaves and branches - but with a few extra treats available he was happy to stand - or sit - for the process. The property is in a wonderful part of La Manche with many gorgeous beaches and villages close by. We visited a few local towns (St Lo, Granville) we also visited the World War II monument to the Normandy beach landings in Ver sur Mer which was something we had wanted to do again. It was also really useful that the house was near enough to the village centre to be able to walk in to buy our early morning croissant and baguette and also to visit the local market which was held twice a week. It was a great opportunity to buy local produce and chat with the local shopkeepers. The house is also not far from a small restaurant L'Antelope which serves a good rustic lunch or dinner of galettes and crepes. The staff were really friendly and the locals were interested in speaking with us too which was such a nice experience. Simon was a delight. Amanda had mentioned that he was a little fickle with his food which was attributed to his age. I found that he would finish all his breakfast if a little water was added to it and that he would eat all his supper if it was mixed thoroughly beforehand. I am afraid that Max did not get a look in on any leftovers! Simon tried to join in a couple of the ball chasing games with Max which I think surprised him, he also often sat with us when we were watching TV or sitting in the garden. He was very affectionate and loved it if you rubbed his tummy. All in all, I would recommend this sit to anyone that has experience of sitting for large dogs, can tickle a cat's tummy and loves the French coastline. Thank you Amanda and Javier for giving me the opportunity to spend time in a country that I adore and with two delightful pets that I will never forget. Valerie
This is a delightful home, Jack is adorable and Pamela leaves clear instructions and everything you need. Beautiful comfy room, an easy walk in to Teignmouth and beachfront, highly recommended, thank you Pamela and Jack x
Muriel and her family were absolutely delightful. Everything about this petsit was perfect: the house is beautiful with excellent wifi and had so many good books we could have spent years there! Plus it's just a few minutes walk to the underground. Our room was just amazing and Muriel even gave us wardrobe space for our clothes. The area is full of energy with good restaurants and cafés galore, and Archie the cat is so sweet and funny to spend time with. We will always the treasure this special time we spent in Clapham South.
I had a wonderful experience at Nicole's sit. Ryvr, Naia and Bug are simply three cuties! They all are very loving and intelligent. Naia is sweet, with an interesting personality and Bug is just a calm loving baby. They just want to get and give love. Ryvr is the one I wanted to meet the most and was so happy to finally do. He is super smart, sweet and well behaved. He is gorgeous! They all are beautiful animals. Nicole's home is cozy and warm, it was clean and it had everything I needed. It is located in the middle of the forest where it is very nice to go for walks. I took Ryvr with me for some days and we both had a great time. Nicole was super kind, helpful and attentive to any needs I could present. Thank you Nicole for a great opportunity taking care of your babies! I had a blast <3
I loved this sit!!! I had excellent communication with Rama from the start. We first had a FaceTime call through WhatsApp to meet the family and Honey Bunny, and learn the responsibilities of the home. The home was immaculate with very specific information on how to care for the brand new kitchen counters etc. I appreciated that. The home has a real zen feeling. Huge, wide open living spaces, huge garden, and very peaceful. I spend most of my time in the kitchen and this one is dreamy. Note: if you are a tv watcher (which I am not) there are no tv’s. It was lovely to be in a space such as this! Honey Bunny was the cutest and sweetest ever! She was very social and loved to be pet (but not picked up as expected from a bunny) She slept under the bed for most of the day but would come out in the afternoon and hop around until the evening. I was given an excellent note for care as she does have specific dietary needs. I would gladly help again!
Anna and her dog Sophie aka Piggy are both incredible! Anna lives in a very beautiful and cosy barn conversion which we fell in love with. Anna provided us with a very comfortable double room with full access to all of her amenities. We also really loved Piggy, who loves her walks, is extremely smart, affectionate and a strong, loyal, bulldog. She does need to be restrained from cyclists as she may lunge to protect her guardians which we found extremely loyal. Piggy is extremely friendly and loving, adores her tummy rubs and scratches and really loves to cuddle. We walked Piggy daily for our 2 day stay and then bathed her outside as she loves her outdoor adventures trunging through the mud. The weather does not dissuade her at all, she loves to be in nature regardless. We really loved our stay at Anna's place and cannot wait to return to the UK to see them both again! Thanks again Anna and Sophie xx
