Jenny and Kenny welcomed me with open arms into their home to take care of Woody. They had everything all lined up for me it was such a smooth transition. Woody is such a chill cat. He was great to hang out with. I would most definitely sit for Jenny and Kenny again if the chance ever comes up.
What can you say about Brian & Nellie's home? The manner in which the animals interact, protect and love is so representative of their home. Their home is welcoming and gorgeous, including the area, which is wonderfully filled with wildlife. We saw a new species of animal! Have you ever heard of a Giant Black Fox Squirrel? But it's the animals that will steal your heart. Tobin is such a sweet, snugglefest of a puppy who only has one issue, which is not an issue at all- he loves so, so much, so he'll get excited to see you- a lot. Willow is so relaxed, and knows exactly what she wants, and she'll convince you to give it to her. She can also open the door by herself! Not the doggie door, the front door. Squeaky is so fun and goes in and out of the house. Everyone loves when Squeaky comes around! And although you may not see Kiki often, we tried hard to make that relationship happen, so we were blessed with her cuteness every time she ate. The gerbils were also fun, though they didn't need much at all. But they were having a blast. And the fish.. were fish. Easy, pretty :). Long story short, this was a wonderful experience we hope to have again. And we already miss the animals. Brian & Nellie, thank you!
I had a great time with Duncan and Regan in Kindsbach! Communication with Marnie leading up to and during the sit was great, and the place was very clean and comfortable. I had everything I needed to take care of the doggies and also the number of a neighbour, which was helpful. My favourite part of my short stint was taking the dogs out for walk through the nearby woods, which are super beautiful and have lots of different trails to check out. Both dogs are total sweethearts but need to be walked separately as they can really pull on their leashes. I got in the habit of pulling them over to the side of the road/path and getting them to sit when another dog/person came by and that made things easier. Indoors, they are both super affectionate and cuddly, which was so nice!
Emily and Jack were the most obliging and sweet sitters, I had a long drive and they waited up for me as I was arriving late, and I was greeted with chocolate and a card! Very lovely and interesting people. Baxter is gorgeous, a perfect example of how time and commitment to training really makes all of the positive difference - they have done an amazing job considering he was a street dog. Particularly surrounding food, he had very good manners! Lovely company to have around the house, and I definitely felt like I had been initiated into his pack by the end of the sit. The estate is nice and spacious, and very quiet so it was easy to manage Baxter's reactivity and other than barking at other dogs, he's a lovely walker on the lead. The house was spotless and airy, and Emily even had a spare toothbrush! The area is amazing, with two beaches only a 20 minutes walk - would totally recommend a morning or sunset swim in the summer. The South West coastal path was very accessible, since Baxter can be left for 4 hours - I would drive a short way each time and pick up the next part of the path, it was easy to do and a cool way to access the more secluded beaches. Definitely recommend this sit!
I had the best week pet sitting for Melanie and Roy. I was lucky to arrive one day before so I was able to meet them both in person. They are wonderful people who made sure I really felt at home and had everything I need. I am very grateful that they were always just one message away. The house is beautiful - a perfect space for all their pets + some exciting squirrels and pretty birds in the patio. The location in the Old Town of Alexandria is perfect to feel like a local for the time being. It‘s only a few minutes to the vivid King Street and about 15 min to the pretty riverside. It was so interesting to get to know all 5 cats! All of them have a different but unique personality. I enjoyed waking up early to join them watching the squirrels eating their peanuts. In exchange, they loved joining me on the comfortable couch when I watched some TV in the evenings. At first, the boys are a bit more trusting and open than the girls but they will eventually warm up when they can feel all the love and care. In between, I was excited to enjoy some peace when being with the tortoise Tommy. He is such a calm soul. I am already missing him as well as all his furry roommates!
Charlie and Gon are SUPERfriendly, cuddly cats! Gon came right and greeted me at the door at the first meeting and does a kind of dolphin jump with her humped back against my hand. Charlie joined her when I arrived for the actual sit and then was very very affectionate. They were both respectful and attentive and easy to care for. I wish it would have been longer. Kazuna herself was also friendly, energetic and generous. She was very easy going about pretty much everything, and generally responded to my updates very quickly. The studio apartment was very comfortable and has an interesting, shape with high ceilings. I slept very well and it was extremely calm and quiet. You would never guess you are right smack in the middle of one of the hippest, busiest parts of town with every sort of restaurant, old movie house and bar at your door! Even public transportation is right there, should you for some reason desire to ELSEwhere... If you love cats, coziness and city life, this is a sit for you! Thanks again, Kazuna and girls, I would come back any time.
