Sarah & Juan
Sarah and Juan are so great and understanding. We really enjoyed meeting them, but especially Chula and Lala! They are the sweetest, just gotta keep an eye out for Lala because she's an adventurous one haha. We honestly had the best time cuddling with them and we definitely miss them both so much!

Buster was a dream to look after, just a fluffy little prince, very easy so care for! Nice clean place close to downtown. Good size, me and my partner definitely had enough room for the both of us. Larissa and Brandon are friendly and very helpful, if I had any questions they where quick to respond. Just great all round!

Imme
I had a great time looking after the two dogs, Kai and Ozzy, 3 cats Mister, Zoe and Soot and the chickens for just over a week. I arrived a day early so there was plenty of time for Imme and Mark to give me a tour, walk the dogs together and explain how everything worked.

The dogs and cats were great company and all very affectionate. Kai looks like a Lab but is very much a Collie. He is always looking back at you for instruction and loves to play ball. Ozzy is more his own man but he still loves to snuggle on the sofa and have a belly rub. The cats each have their own favourite place in the house and love attention. The chickens were no problem.

The house is cozy and comfortable with plenty of logs for the wood burners. Although it's on a lane, it's very peaceful and there is hardly ever any traffic (or people) so the dogs can safely walk off lead. They know to return to you when they hear a vehicle.

Imme and I both bake bread so we did an exchange, I was greeted with a sourdough while they were welcomed home with a wholemeal loaf and some freshly picked produce from the garden.

William
I’ll start with the positive things.
The Cats are wonderful, sweet, affectionate
Margot is loving and caring she follows you and sleeps with you from day one, loves to sit on my lap and watch tv. Lewis is a bit shy but also very loving once he warms up to you.
William home is nice and comfortable with everything you need to enjoy the stay. However I had a four-star experience housesitting for William. The location is perfect off Michigan Avenue, walking distance to all the shopping, the water tower & the lake when it’s warm fabulous perfect location.
However, there were some drawbacks. William expected me to be at his place all the time, limiting freedom for anything and holiday activities in Chicago.
His Maid, is also the building housekeeper, added a layer of surveillance as you see her often when coming & going as it’s a small lobby. The doorman controls access to the building at all times so entering, exiting & the elevator, making entry and exit monitored. Which I had no problem with since I never have quest. They just see your every move.

While the location was great, the pressure from William created anxiety. He insisted on strict feeding schedules for cat even while they have a automatic feeder, Their wet food meals & dinner has to be at a certain time or he seems to get upset when I couldn’t be there by the time I had said I would try to make it by.
He later apologized that’s day one. 🤦🏾‍♀️🤷🏾‍♀️
At which point I emailed TH and ask for help and emailed them over and over asking for advice as this was a interesting sit with a lot of high expectations.
Even changing the robot litter box and providing photos proved challenging. I should have not touched it but it smelled and I decided to empty it but I couldn’t do that right neither.
He again started with the questions. The bag is in wrong what lights are on, did you leave? what time will you leave? When I didn’t answer his questions he said answer then questions. I didn’t answer because I was waiting for TH to reply. He wanted to communicate on WhatsApp. But I insisted we stay on TH as I could see he was going to be a challenge.
My concerns led me to contact TrustedHousesitters during this sit
It’s Christmas we already have enough stress during this stressful holiday period. We don’t need more stress from a owner.
Overall, not the best fit for those seeking freedom and flexibility during a housesit. If you want to stay home and watch his cats 24-7 this is perfect for you.
I don’t like to be micromanaged,
I’m 60 and I have been doing this for 30 plus years.
William I’m sure is a nice person
Offered me anything in the home to eat
But the pressure was just to much,
I wonder why none of the other sitter left reviews
I think I under now why.
It’s important that we share our experiences both good and not so good so other will know
Please read his profile
He expects you to be home with his cats all day. I also left him a gift
Which he never said thank you for.

Thanks for the life lesson.

Peter
Pete was welcoming and helpful. His home is very comfortable. The friendly village has a number of walks and is on a well conneted bus route. The pets are great characters and I enjoyed their company, though would suit early risers! I really enjoyed this sit and would recommend it.

Carolyn was great, very fast communicator and thoroughly explained everything to me. Sadie was so sweet and I had a great time hanging out with her. Would definitely sit for them again!
