Gail has 4 of the most delightful pets on the planet. Finley and Sunny are extremely loving and well behaved pooches who thoroughly enjoy exploring the Devon countryside. Mona is an adorable ball of kitty fluff who loves a lap but is not so keen on being brushed. For anyone who doesn't like or understand tortoises, then you must meet Speedy. What a character. Gail is a lovely person and a model pet owner. She's very organised and explained every pets' likes and dislikes before I arrived and left a list to remind me. Ashburton is a delightful town, full of friendly people, antiques shops, upmarket food shops, pubs and cafes, and is the perfect place from which to explore Devon. I would go back in a heartbeat.
I had a PHENOMENAL time at this wonderful week-long sit and so wish I were still there! There was so much to love. I’ll start with the warm and generous welcome I got from the host, Mikki. After introducing me to what I needed to know in and around the house, showing me where and how to feed the dogs, she introduced me to one of her neighbors before treating me to dinner in lovely Ajijic. She also introduced me to her housekeeper (Bertha), dog walker (Ritchie) and assistant (Lilliana) who became my friends--It was wonderful to already know some people before Mikki left town. I feel especially lucky that Mikki and I got to spend time together before her trip! Just lovely! The communication was great throughout. The only hiccup was when I first arrived. There was a slight misunderstanding on where and when to meet at the airport, but we were able to clear it up quickly. I fell completely in love with the six dogs, Arne, Luna, Zoe, Ginger, Henry, and Lola (seems like a handful but they are very loving, well-trained, and sleep most of the day lol). Luna and Ginger were hesitant and shy at first but they eventually warmed up to me! They are all just downright adorable. I got very attached and it was hard to say goodbye. The house: beautiful, filled with light and every convenience you could need. The gardens: huge, peaceful, bursting with flowers, also completely dog safe for the pups. The town: picture perfect with welcoming neighbors. Mikki was kind enough to provide her vehicle so it was great to explore the area and find wonderful cafes and restaurants nearby. If I ever have an opportunity to do this sit again, I will snatch it up. So should every other sitter given the chance.
Milly and Brenda were nice people and the house is spacious, clean and tidy with a cottage character. There are many woodland walks on the doorstep so its great if you like the countryside and woodland. All mod cons. We looked after 5 tortoises and a cat. As it was winter the tortoises were quiet and the cat is the most well behaved cat I have met. Probably because Milly was a vet. You may need your own transport to get into town and out further afield. I would highly recommend this sit to others.
I spent the Christmas and New Year period with Akira , and thoroughly enjoyed my time with her! She was a little suspicious of me at first, but as she got to know me and felt more relaxed, she was playful, friendly and affectionate. She is the sweetest and funniest creature! She was very well-behaved and I missed her a lot after the sit. Celia provided very clear information, was extremely communicative and answered any questions promptly. I really enjoyed sharing with her photos of Akira's adventures :) Her apartment is super cosy, gets lots of sun in the mornings and has many beautiful plants. It was a pleasure to stay there. I am so glad to have met Celia and Akira and would happily mind Akira again if needed!
I had a wonderful time thanks to Victor & Jeju! Victor was very kind and was very helpful which made it possible that I had a really great time staying in his home. Jeju is a sweet dog who loves to be petted and is very easygoing. On walks he has quite the strong will so one must have a gentle but firm hand: though all in all, it was my most favourite times of the day when we went on out for a walk. Amersfoort is a beautiful city, as is Victor's home. I can only vouch for them through my words that this is a sit you'll love to do again, as I will. I hope to be able to stay with them again in the future. Thank you so much for the wonderful time Victor & Jeju!
It was an absolute pleasure housesitting for Amy. From the initial contact, Amy made it easy, comfortable and gave Simon and I detailed instructions with how to care for the house and pets. Coco had a beautiful temperament and was well trained which allowed Simon and myself to enjoy walking her in the lovely neighbourhood. The house is located in a great spot, Putney, which is close to the tube station and to shops. The house was spotless and at a high standard. We were able to make ourselves feel at home and enjoy the love and company of the gorgeous pets. Would highly recommend housesitting for Amy.
