Layla is a sweet dog and fairly easy to sit with. She likes to snuggle and she loves to sleep under the covers in bed with you. She loves her walks and treats and is happy to play at home with toys or just cuddle on the sofa. She will let you know if you forget a meal by more than a few minutes. ;). She is somewhat change averse, so best to stick with her schedule as much as possible. This was a fairly short sit, so I didn't have lots of time to explore the town, and I failed to plan ahead to schedule an activity. Campbell River is said to be the Salmon Capital of Canada. I wish I had pre-booked a fishing trip. If you land this sit, I'd recommend looking into pre-booking an activity if you want a guided trip to fish, see grizzlies or fly on the mail plane. Those all book well in advance. But there is plenty of hiking and other things to do and nice beachfronts just to watch the water a few minutes from the house. There are several good coffee shops and a handful of restaurants and at least one really good brewery. Layla's neighborhood is full of easy walks very near the house, and many of the neighbors are out walking dogs morning and evening. It's a very safe and friendly area. adjacent to an elementary school. And Layla will lead you on the way to go. It's her walk, after all! She has a few different routes, and she seems to pick one at random at the start of the walk, but don't try to tell her which way to go. The map on your phone means nothing to her. The home is lived in by a family with a young child, and there are toys and such around. If you are the type of sitter that requires a pristine, clutter-free environment, this sit may not be for you. But if you are the type that takes joy knowing a happy child lives in the home in which you are sitting, then by all means apply. Erika was good with communication and hospitable. Overall a really good sit.
I was dismayed and the clutter and amount of cleaning I was confronted with at this sit. Every other home I have sat was left in pristine condition. For the sake of the platform I cannot honestly say this home currently meets THS stands for hosting a stranger. The kitties are super sweet and the neighborhood is fine. With a thorough cleaning and an effort made to stow all the children’s equipment this could be a very nice sit.
Kelsey's cats were delightful and easy to take care of. The cats loved window watching and found that more interesting than the laser pointer, especially when someone was paying attention to them. Kelsey left clear instructions and options for help if needed. Cute, clean apartment and walkable neighborhood (very close to my massage therapist and took advantage of that!).
Omar was a little shy on the first day; but warmed up to me after that and was an incredibly sweet and sociable cat! He was very curious and loved to follow me around and sit with me. He wasn't quite sure of what to do in the kitchen; so be very careful when preparing food or using the stove top, as he may try and jump up. Holly was so kind and even did a personal tour/walkthrough of the complex and apartment so I knew exactly what to expect. Her apartment was very clean and cozy. She was very easy to communicate with. I would definitely do this sit again if the opportunity presented!
Adaline and Jose were wonderful hosts. Great communication, and a thorough welcome guide. Jordan and I arrived to a very clean, lovely place close to San Francisco. The bus stops were about a three minute walk, and they are quite close to the ocean! Their dogs, Luna and Stormy were adorable. Stormy, as a puppy was a little rascal, but so loveable and sweet. Luna was timid at first, but turned out to be the biggest cuddler. We loved watching them play with each other and talking daily walks. Luna had a surgery while we were sitting and was so great at taking her medications. We already miss the pups! Thanks Adaline and Jose for everything, and the lovely flowers upon arrival. <3
Moonshine and Cricket are two loving, playful cats who will take just a bit of time to warm up. TJ’s home is in a super walkable part of Santa Monica, just a few minutes from the beach and a lively street. He is super communicative and very invested in helping you befriend the cats and enjoy your stay in LA!
