This was a sit of two halves. Let me start with the positives and there are a lot. Judith and her family are lovely, Communication was easy and Judith always replied quickly to my messages. Judith's home is clean and comfortable with all the basics covered and we were left with all we needed in the fridge, plus we were told to help ourselves to the beer fridge. A lovely bonus. Wellington is a lovely county town, everything is within walking distance, a supermarket, chemist's, an excellent bookshop, pubs, an excellent Indian restaurant, it even has a wetherspoons just up the road. You really don't need a car for this sit. Kaz the parrot is very easy to look after, feed him, change his water, spray him with water, and talk to him. He's not very chatty but he does a very good impersonation of Ed the dog whingeing. (Had us in stitches). Now for Ed, we're not sure he likes men outside of his family members. It was several days before he accepted Ken was going to stay. By the second week he was wanting to play and sit on Kens lap!! Ed can be sweet with his grumpy little face, and to be fair to Ed we still have all our fingers.
It was such a joy to house sit for Claire and Paul and to take care of their furry family. The dogs (sweet Baxter, shy Alice, and cheeky Buddy) were easy to care for and fun to be around. Annie and Pepper, the guinea pigs, were low maintenance and would chirp their appreciation for their dinner salads, while Fuzzy the cat grew to trust us after the first week or so and then would spend the evenings on the sofa with us. Claire and Paul's house is really comfortable and there is a great kitchen for those who like to cook (and the village is only 1km down the road for those who don't). We spent many an evening sitting on the terrace enjoying a glass of wine as the sun went down, but the view of the sunrise is really the more spectacular of the two. Best of all, Claire and Paul made us feel completely at home - more like friends than petsitters - and we left the sit feeling like we'd made new friends that we could pop in a see if we were ever in the area again. We'd happily come back and pet sit for them again if they needed us and would definitely recommend them.
Amy was great about having the place prepared for us and left everything that we needed to take care of Cooper. it was a pleasure to hang out with him!
What a pleasure it was to sit for Roz, Ray & their 2 delightful dogs Vala & Teal’c. They have a beautiful house in a magic little place & we were given good explicit instructions on care of the home & animals. Vala & Teal’c are the most talkative (in a nice way) dogs we’ve ever cared for & are so well known in the small community. It was a privilege to care for them & looking forward to catching up with them again.
I absolutely loved this sit! Silly has the cutest personality. We had so much fun . The entire house is beautifully organized and a joy to stay in! Each time Silly and I went for a walk Margot followed us staying just close enough to be part of the experience Their neighbors were so welcoming and made me feel so welcome. I loved this sit!
We had a lovely time staying with Stanley. He's such a chilled dog and so easy to look after. Jody and Lee's house is a tranquil sanctuary and their garden is equally therapeutic. There are several walking trails from the house. Jody and Lee provided a detailed guide on how to look after Stanley, their garden, and the plants in the house. We enjoyed our stay with Stanley and highly recommend this sit.
