My partner Erie and I had a wonderful time sitting for Cathy and her pets. Mac is a lovable goofball, but we love giving him love. I think my partner fell in love with Sunny who loved “making bread” on our blanket each night. Blaze tolerated us but I think he has a soft spot for us. The chickens were easy to take care of besides having to watch out for Napoleon (but he just has short man syndrome going on, and the broom deters). The sunsets for next level and we really try to treat her home with respect and keep it clean as well. Cathy was very good at communication and sweet as can be. Even when our second set had to end early she was very accommodating and sweet about it. Definitely recommend sitting for her and hope that maybe will come back to Del Rio and do so!
We met up with Jill & her 4 kitty fur babies well ahead of the sit to check we all got along and could manage the what was required. Nothing demanding or scary, so we agreed the housesit. The sit was a month or so later, & we met a lovely lady called Ali who was doing the first leg of the house sit, and seamlessly handed over, giving us all the instructions & tips she had picked up. She even gave us some wine! I have to add, what an interesting, down to Earth, & caring individual Jill is! A real life superhero. The house is homely and inviting & a pleasure to stay in. The 4 cats are just darlings, and we really bonded with them over the time we were there. Jill invited us back to cat & house sit again, which we were so grateful & happy to do again. She left us a parcel of food to make pasta bake in the fridge with meat in, even though she is does not eat that herself. So thoughtful. We frequented the lovely pub opposite a couple of times too. We will only be too happy to recommend Jill and her kitties for any housesitters, but of course, hope she will invite us back again if and when she has more travelling to do.
Josie was a fantastic host. Her home is beautiful and she made me feel very, very welcome. She had prepared me some food for the weekend and is a super chef ! Ted is a very sweet boy and no trouble at all. Harley and Bonnie have a nice little routine and are equally kind natured and ‘easy’ to do. You have all you need, to do all you need to do ! I have a return already arranged and wouldn’t hesitate returning again after that ☺️
Bernie and Mister were a delight to look after. Bernie was great fun with the energy of a puppy and loved sticks and expressed this my running around in circles before a walk. Bernie was anxious about passing cars which needed to be managed. Mister's hind legs restricted him to short walks but he is calm and has an easy going temperament. In order to walk them both at the same time, it was best to have two of us. Deborah and Martin gave clear and useful instructions about the dog's needs and daily routines, which was very helpful. Their house is superb, equipped to a high standard and situated in a beautiful village with plenty of excellent walks. Thank you Deborah and Martin.
